Homicide – 200 Blk. S. Tancahua

Early this morning officers were called to the 200 block of S. Tancahua after witnesses heard unusual noises coming from the residence. When they arrived they located an 88-year-old woman bleeding from what appeared to be stab wounds; she was not responsive but had a pulse. Medics transported her to the hospital in critical condition.

Officers at the scene were informed that a light complected male subject, either Hispanic or White, was seen running from the apartment shortly before the victim was located. Witnesses described the individual as clean-shaven with a shaved head, 5′ 8″ to 5′ 10″ in height, 150-170 lbs.

While investigators were still at the crime scene they learned that the victim had succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

Burglary Suspects Run From Police

Officers responded to a burglary in progress call in the 400 block of Indiana, where they were directed to two male subjects getting into a blue Ford F150.  After the men saw the police, they both fled on foot, leaving the truck.  The bed of the truck was found to have a TV as well as other items which were linked back to the house where the subjects were spotted.  Officers were able to quickly search for the subjects who were found hiding together under a house in the 400 block of Ohio.  The Officers arrested both Johnathen Pena 10.4.92 and the other subject, a 14 year old juvenile male, for burglary of a residence and for running from the Police.  The property in the truck was returned to the homeowner and the truck was taken to the CCPD impound lot.

Aggravated Robbery Suspect

Investigators with the Robbery/Homicide Unit are asking for your help in identifying the individual responsible for an Aggravated Robbery at the Sears Department store.

In this incident the unidentified individual is seen via in store surveillance put on a pair boots and then walk out of the store without paying for them.

When store personal attempted to question the individual about the incident he struck the employee with a closed fist and threatened to shoot them.

He then fled on foot west bound and got into a light-colored vehicle and fled west bound on the access road.

The individual is described as a hispanic male with a thin build around 5′ 9″ in height. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a white beanie, blue vest over a black long sleeve t-shirt with white crosses on the sleeves, dark jeans.

I’ll Take One More Round On The House

Officers responded to the It’ll Do Saloon and contacted the bartender who reported Sheila Jo Hardin (08/20/75) attempted to pay her bar tab with a forged $100 bill.

Officers contacted Hardin who was found to be in possession of several more $100 counterfeit bills which were confiscated.

Hardin was arrested and charged with Forgery ~ Government Instrument Money/Securities.

Did you Take My Drugs?

Units were dispatched to an assault in progress with a gun. When they arrived they contacted the complainant, who told officer that his neighbor Jonathan Trevino 9-26-88, had come to his apartment and confronted him with a knife and a handgun visibly tucked into his waistband. At one point Jonathan threatens to kill him.

Jonathan was accusing the complainant of having stolen his drugs. The victim never exited his apartment and watched Jonathan walk back towards his apartment. When officers went to Jonathan’s apartment to talk to him Belia Alvarado 3-30-1962, answered the door, Belia is Jonathan’s mother. She told officers that they needed to leave the property because they were not going to be allowed into the apartment.

After several request by the officers to Belia to allow them into the apartment to check on the status of Jonathan and his well-being and Belia refusing. She was arrested for Interfering with the Duties of a Peace Officer, along with her son Jonathan who was charged with Aggravated assault, both were transported  to the City Detention Center.

False Report to Police Officer Lands Man in Jail

Officers were dispatched to 2530 Dewberry for the third time in as many days for an assault not in progress. When they arrived they contacted the complaint, Isaiah Aguilar (2-23-1992),who told them that he had been assaulted by another man. Upon gathering the facts officers determined that  Aguilar was making up the assault story against the individual in an attempt to have him falsely arrested. Officers instead arrested Aguilar  for False Report to a Peace Officer, a class B misdemeanor.

Detectives Investigate City’s First Homicide of 2012

Shortly after 5:30 pm, police and medical units were dispatched to 215 Aberdeen reference a female down in her residence. When they arrived they located both the female and her estranged husband lying on the floor next to each other. The 71-year-old couple were not responsive and appeared to be deceased from gunshot wounds.

Upon further investigation it was learned that the individuals were involved in a domestic relationship and had been having some issues. Investigators were able to determine that the estranged husband arrived at the residence and a disturbance ensued, which led to the unfortunate results.  The preliminary investigation conducted by Homicide Detectives appears to indicate that the man shot the woman first before turning the gun on himself.

A firearm was located in the crime scene and tagged as evidence.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation.

Firework Patrols Begin Today at 6:00 p.m.

Corpus Christi Police Officers working in coordination with Corpus Christi Fire Fighters will be providing firework enforcement beginning today through the New Year.

Officers will be making traffic stops for the Fire Department on vehicles suspected of travelling into the city limits with fireworks from firework stands. 

Both Officers and the Fire Department will be issuing citations for the firework violations.  Violators can be fined up to $2,000.00 per firework.

The confiscated fireworks will be disposed of in a bomb squad approved container at an unnamed location.

76-Year-Old Storeowner Unharmed During Robbery

 Officers contacted the owner of Choe’s Food Market who reported a Black male robbed him at knife point.  The owner told Officers the suspect entered in the store, selected a drink from the cooler area and walked to the counter. 

The suspect grabbed the victim and held him at  knife point as he demanded the cash register to be opened.   The robber stole an undetermined amount of money and fled out the store.

The suspect is described as a Black male, 35 to 45 years of age, 6’ to 6’1” feet tall and weighing 160 lbs.  He was last seen wearing a black sweater, black pants, and a beanie.

No Beer Here

 12/22/11, 8:15 p.m.  Burglary – Aggravated Assault   2745 Rogers    1112220119

Officers and medics were dispatched to 2745 Rogers for a stabbing that had just occurred. Upon arrival they contacted a 67-year-old male victim with injuries to his arm.

He informed Officers that he was sleeping when a neighbor came into the victim’s home uninvited. The neighbor was demanding beer from the victim. When the victim stated that he did not have any beer the neighbor became irate and began to assault him, stabbing him in the process with a kitchen knife.

The suspect, described as a  31-year-old male, fled the scene prior to the arrival of Officers.

The victim was treated at the scene by medics.  The steak knife was collected by crime scene personnel as evidence.
