DRIVER ARRESTED FOR DWI/EVADING

On Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 9:05pm, officers were dispatched to the 5000 block of S. Padre Island Drive in reference to a single vehicle traffic crash. Callers advised a vehicle struck a tree and fled the location on foot.

Officers arrived and located a grey pickup had struck a tree and began speaking with witnesses. Witnesses provided a description of the male driver and the direction of travel the male was seen running. Officers converged in the area and located the male at the 4900 block of Cain Drive. The male continued running from officers and was ultimately placed into custody for evading on foot at the 4900 block of Bonner Drive.

DWI officers assessed the driver, 31-year-old Jesus Gonzales, who showed signs of intoxication. Gonzales was additionally charged with driving while intoxicated.

Officers determined that Gonzales was traveling eastbound on the 4900 block of Highway 358, failed to maintain a single lane of travel and collided with the center concrete median on the highway. The driver lost control, the vehicle left the highway and crossed the access road, entered a private parking lot and struck a tree.

After being medically cleared at a local hospital, Gonzales was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

DOWNTOWN SHOOTING SUSPECTS

On November 30, 2024, at about 2: 28 am officers were dispatched to the intersection of Starr St. and N. Chaparral St. in reference to a shooting.

As multiple officers arrived, they were directed to two shooting victims. The two victims were taken to a local hospital by EMS. It was determined a fight broke out between several parties. One male produced a weapon and fired recklessly into the crowd.

HIT & RUN DRIVER LOCATED

On December 1, 2024, at about 10:39 pm, officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Nile Dr. in reference to a crash. Officers were told a truck crashed into a building and fled the scene.

Officers arrived and contacted business employees who stated a truck suddenly rammed into the building. The truck reversed and left the location.

Officers located a license plate that was left behind, that belonged to the vehicle involved.

Officers went to a nearby residence less than two blocks away and located the involved truck and driver.

The driver was placed under arrest for Duty on Striking Structure/Fixture, Fail to Identify, and Resisting Arrest.

20-year-old Nathan Herrera was transported to the City Detention Center for booking. His truck was impounded.

ELDON ST. SHOOTING

On December 1, 2024, at about 2:28 am officers were dispatched to the area of 400 Eldon Dr. in reference to a shooting. Multiple calls were coming in for shots fired in that area.

Officers arrived and were directed to a nearby apartment where they located a 30-year-old male with a gunshot wound. Medics shortly arrived and transported the male to a local hospital.

Witnesses told officers the victim was arguing with his girlfriend outside an apartment building when an unknown male observed them arguing. The unknown male then shot the victim.

The unknown offender left the location in a vehicle prior to police arrival.

The victims’ injuries were non-life threatening at the time.

AYERS STABBING

On November 30, 2024, at about 2:11 am officers were dispatched to the 4800 block of Ayers St. in reference to a fight in progress. The call then updated to a stabbing.

The victim of the stabbing was driven to a local hospital. Officers contacted the victim at the hospital and were told a fight broke out between several males. Once the fight dispersed the victim realized he was stabbed. The victim told officers this incident stemmed from a previous altercation at the same location months prior.

Officers went to the incident location, but most had already left the scene.

Officers are still investigating this offense. There were no arrests made at the time.   

The victims’ injuries were non-life threatening.

WRONG WAY DRIVER GOES TO JAIL

On November 30, 2024, at about 12:19 am Officers received multiple calls of a wrong way driver traveling east bound on the west bound side of HWY 358.

Officers located the vehicle and observed it traveling in the wrong direction. Officers paralleled the vehicle, on the east bound side, with lights and sirens activated, but the driver continued to disregard them.

Officers observed the vehicle exit the HWY at Ennis Joslin and came to a stop at 3000 block of Whistler Dr. The driver was contacted.

The driver of the vehicle was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. Officers conducted their DWI investigation. The driver was ultimately arrested for driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest.

The driver 23-year-old Jesus Bazan was transported to the city detention center for booking. His vehicle was impounded.

INJURED PERSON

On November 30, 2024, officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Airline Rd in reference to a possible crash. When officers arrived the located in the parking lot, a female that was pinned under her own vehicle.

Corpus Christi Fire Department was able to lift the vehicle and free the female from under.

Officers were told by the female that her vehicle malfunctions and she was attempting to fix a part underneath when the vehicle rolled on top of her.

The female showed no major injuries but was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.

DOWNTOWN SHOOTING

On November 30, 2024, at about 2: 28 am officers were dispatched to the intersection of Star St. and N. Chaparral St. in reference to a shooting.

Officers contacted several witnesses and reviewed nearby cameras. It was determined a fight broke out between several parties. One male produced a weapon and fired recklessly into the crowd.

The offender left in a vehicle prior to police arrival.

This is still an ongoing investigation.
