Offense: Theft
P.C. 31.03       Class A Misdemeanor
Case Number: 1505210054
Corpus Christi Police were called after a male suspect attempted to steal 19 pairs of sunglasses and a couple of shirts from the Premier Yamaha Shop located at 7601 South Padre Island Drive.

Once outside, the male suspect attempted to flee the store, but was chased down by several store employees. He was held for a while, but he managed to escape by running across the freeway and into an apartment complex.

The male suspect dropped all of the property he was attempting to steal but left behind the motorcycle he drove up on.

Officers arrived at the store, and while they did not find the suspect, they did impound the 2003 Yamaha motorcycle.

The store employees told officers that the value of all the merchandise that the suspect attempted to steal was over $1000.

Officers continue to investigate this case, however, at this time no suspects have been arrested.

Financial Crimes Detectives Raid Home

The Corpus Christi Police SWAT assisted Financial Crimes Detectives from the Police Criminal Investigations Unit with a search warrant at 4837 Williams Drive early Thursday morning.

A search warrant for the home was obtained after detectives received information that a counterfeiting operation was using the location.

SWAT officers secured the scene and handed over the home to detectives investigating the case.

Inside the home officers found two females and a male. The male suspect inside, Johnny Valle (08/23/1982) was determined to have an outstanding arrest warrant for probation violation.

Detectives recovered drug paraphernalia and a set of blank check stock inside the home. Other items seized inside the home included prescription pills, bags for packaging narcotics, several pipes, and a scale.  Detectives will also be investigating a security camera system, and computers found at the location.

The male suspect was arrested for the outstanding warrant.  The two females were identified and released.

Special Operations On Beach Begin Today

The Corpus Christi Police Department will begin special operations for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend later today.

The overtime assignment will bring seven additional officers to Padre Island starting today through Memorial Day.  The extra officers will  work  from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m everyday.

The officers will meet at the Tortuga Dunes Island Substation and be available to assist Memorial Day weekend crowds that want to enjoy the beach.

Floodwaters Close LaBonte Park

At the request of the Corpus Christi Police Department, the Texas Department of Transportation today closed the turnaround under Interstate 37 that provides access to LaBonte Park due to floodwaters from the Nueces River.

The closure prevents access to the popular park and it will be in place until further notice. People are urged to avoid the area.

Click It or Ticket Update

Corpus Christi Police Officers have been working on an overtime basis through a grant provided by the Texas Department of Transportation to enforce the states seat belt laws.

As of May 20,

130  citations have been issued to drivers and passengers without seat belts on.

18  citations have been issued to drivers for children in the vehicle not in car safety seats.

38  citations have been issued  to drivers for other violations such as expired vehicle registration or inspection or for no liability insurance.

The Click It or Ticket campaign started May 18 and continues through May 31.

A woman who was rushing a mother and her child to the hospital called Corpus Christi Police after her car overheated.  The woman  was driving the three to the hospital after the child had burned his stomach.

The woman, the child’s 23 year old mother, and the 5 year old boy were all eating dinner at the woman’s home located in the 9100 block of Agnes Street.  They said that the child was in another room, playing with a lighter, when he set his shirt on fire.

The two women were able to put the fire out.  They then observed that the boy had suffered serious burns to his stomach. All three loaded up in the woman’s car and were on their way to Driscoll Children’s Hospital when the car overheated near Louisiana Parkway.

The mother then called 911 to get assistance.  CCFD EMS transported the child the remainder of the way to the hospital.

Medical staff informed officers that due to the child’s burns, he was being transferred to a burn center in Galveston, Texas.

Officers do not expect to file any criminal charges in this case.

Massage Parlor Arrests

On Tuesday,  The Narcotics Vice Investigations Division and Directed Patrol Officers of the Corpus Christi Police Department, in conjunction with Special Agents from Homeland Security Investigations, conducted an operation focused on several local massage parlors. The operation was a result of an increase in citizen complaints directed at the massage parlors for engaging in illegal activity. This  operation produced the following arrests.

 

Rose Spa
3517 S. Staples

Fen Hua Shen Baza (12/10/1972) was charged with prostitution and a violation of the Occupations Code in practicing massage therapy without a license and operating a massage establishment without a license.
Caihong Tan (01/24/1959) was charged with a violation of the Occupations Code in operating a massage establishment without a license.

 

China Spa
5315 Everhart Road

Dong Hong Wang (06/01/1975) was arrested for a violation of the Occupations Code for massage without a license involving sexual contact.
Xiuqin Liu (10/20/1964) was arrested for a violation of the Occupations code for operating a massage establishment without a license.

 

Herbal Massage
5702 S. Staples Street

Yanjie Zhang (08/09/1968) was arrested under the Occupations Code for Practice by a Massage Therapist

Corpus Christi Police responded to a disturbance between a female and her ex-boyfriend at her apartment located at 10342 River Run Boulevard.

When officers arrived they found the ex-boyfriend on the porch knocking on the female’s apartment door. When officers went to investigate, they determined the male was wanted on a parole violation arrest warrant by the United State Marshall Office.

Once the male was arrested, and his vehicle located, officers found pills without a prescription inside the center console.  Officers arrested, Rosendo Amador (07/28/1981), for the outstanding arrest warrant and possession of dangerous drugs.

While being transported to the City Detention Center in a police unit, the suspect kicked the back door of the car.  The door frame was bent as a result of the suspect kicking the door.  The suspect also made threats to harm the officer and his family while being transported.

The suspect was additionally charged with criminal mischief for damaging the door frame, a Class Misdemeanor, and retaliation, a felony, for making the threats.

NVID Conducts Operation

On 5/19/15 The Narcotics Vice Investigations Division and Directed Patrol Officers of the Corpus Christi Police Department, in conjunction with Special Agents from Homeland Security Investigations, conducted an operation focused on several local massage parlors. The operation was a result of an increase in citizen complaints directed at the massage parlors for engaging in illegal activity. This was a two part operation which involved regulatory inspections and had the following results:

Two adult females were arrested.
One female was charged with prostitution and a violation of the Occupations Code in practicing massage therapy without a license and operating a massage establishment without a license.
One female was charged with a violation of the Occupations Code in operating a massage establishment without a license.

2 arrests
Two adult females were arrested.
One female was arrested for a violation of the Occupations Code for massage without a license involving sexual contact.
One female was arrested for a violation of the Occupations code for operating a massage establishment without a license.

1 arrest
One adult female was arrested under the Occupations Code for Practice by a Massage Therapist (Sexual Contact)

A 31 year old mother called Corpus Christi Police after she could not find her 9 year old daughter.

The mother reported to officers that her daughter had run away from their apartment, located at 6301 Old Brownsville Road, because of an argument she had with her mother.  She had been looking for her daughter for about 45 minutes prior to contacting police.

Just before 8 PM, the child was seen running thru the middle of the park. She was stopped by officers and returned to her mother.

The child was not injured.
