Two Arrested in Overnight Shooting

Corpus Christi Police were called to the Tejano Knight’s Club for a shooting.  Upon their arrival, Officers found a 35-year-old man had been assaulted and shot in the abdomen.  The man was rushed to Spohn Memorial where he was admitted in Critical Condition.

Further Investigation revealed the victim was trying to break up a fight inside the bar when he was struck on the head with a bottle by Andrea Lynn Trevino (10/14/88).  The disturbance continued onto the parking lot where the victim was shot by Oscar Garcia (12/10/69) who was accompanying Trevino.

Both Trevino and Garcia fled prior to Officers arrival.  Officers quickly had Police Dispatchers B.O.L.O. (Be On the Look Out) the suspect information.  Nueces County Sheriff’s Officers located the suspects as they traveled on County Road 43 and Farm to Market 1694. 

Witnesses positively identified Trevino and Garcia and they were both taken to the Police Department for questioning.  Trevino and Garcia were arrested and booked at the City Detention Center.  They were both charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

“Knock and Talk” Leads to Arrest

As a result of citizen complaints of possible drug dealing, Narcotics Vice Investigation Division Officers along with the assistance of Officers from Charlie District conducted a “knock and talk” at 617 Bermuda Place. 

Officers contacted William Davis (07/13/78) who was residing at the residence and Daniel Hamilton Smalley (03/04/72) who was visiting.  Mr. Davis provided a consent to search the residence.  Officers found no evidence of drug dealing in the residence, but did find evidence of marijuana being smoked inside the residence.

Both men were found to be wanted and arrested.  Davis was charged with an outstanding Nueces County warrant for Assault #1310110108.  Smalley was charged with an outstanding Nueces County warrant for Theft.  His bond was set at $35,000.  He was additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance when several pills were found.  Both men were booked at the City Detention Center. Cash, Car, and Firearm seized during search

RichardReyEscobedoNarcotics Vice Investigation Division Officers served a search warrant at 4515 Up River Rd.  The warrant is the result of an on-going investigation which confirmed that offender Richard Rey Escobedo (01/06/89) was dealing drugs out of the residence.

  A search of the home netted a seizure of a significant amount of illicit narcotics, $23,160 in U.S. currency, a 2007 Chevy Tahoe and a firearm.  

The total value street of the drugs seized was $17,268 and are broken down as follows: 

  • 93.5 grams of Methamphetamine/ICE valued at $5328
  • 9 grams of Heroin valued at $450
  • 226 grams of Cocaine powder valued at $7200
  • 32 grams of Crack valued at $1600
  • 25 grams of Hydro-Marijuana valued at $1250
  • 240 grams Synthetic Marijuana valued at $1440      

The total value of the drugs seized was $17,268.

‘Roar by the Shore’ Parade to be held Saturday Night

The Corpus Christi Police Department welcomes Bikefest ‘Roar by the Shore’ to Corpus Christi for its 20th Anniversary.  On Saturday, October 12, 2013,  at 5:00pm, Bikefest 2013 will be holding a parade beginning at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and ending just North of the Concrete Street Amphitheater.  Traffic Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department will be providing traffic control throughout the motorcycle route.  Beginning at 4:30pm, the Parade route will close to traffic until it ends at 7:30pm.

Motorcycle riders will gather on Shoreline Drive around the Texas A&M University and proceed northbound on Ocean Drive and Shoreline Boulevard to Power Street.  At Power Street, riders will take a left onto Chaparral Street and head southbound to Belden Street where they will ride on, taking a right onto Tancahua Street.  The riders will continue to several designated parking lots north of the Concrete Street Amphitheater.

Street closures will include Ocean Drive, Shoreline Boulevard, Power, Chaparral, Belden and Tancahua Streets.

Motorists are asked to take alternate routes to avoid this area. The downtown area of Corpus Christi is expected to have congested traffic.  Delays are to be expected. Please be patient and courteous.

A 31-year-old man reported to the Corpus Christi Police that an unknown person took a trailer which held an all terrain vehicle with a total value of about $15,500 dollars from in front of his home overnight without permission.

An 81-year-old woman reported to Corpus Christi Police that a man broke the window to her home on the 1000 block of Monette Drive and took money by force at about 7:15pm Thursday night. The 81-year-old woman said she was home alone and heard glass break at the rear of her home. The 81-year-old woman told Police a man came in through a broken window and demanded her cash. The 81-year-old woman told Police she was not injured in the event and the suspect is described as a white male approximately 17-18 years in age, 5 feet 8 inches tall, skinny build, and wore blue jeans, a blue cap and red mask. Police continue to investigate and search for the suspect.

A 66-year-old man reported to the Corpus Christi Police that an unknown man stole his cell phone at the 400 block of Starr Street Thursday night. The 66-year-old man told Police that a man asked to use a cellular telephone. The 66-year-old man told Police when he refused; the unknown man hit him, took the phone, and then left the area. The 66-year-old man described the suspect as a tall black male at least 6 feet 2 inches tall with a low-cut afro style haircut and wore blue jeans and a dirty white T-shirt. Police continue to investigate and search for the suspect.

Police attempted to pull over a vehicle for failing to stop for a red light at Ayers and Saratoga. The driver Seth Kaine Lazo continued on for about a mile and pulled over.

Lazo was found to be wanted and arrested.  He was charged with Evading Arrest with a Vehicle, Driving While License Suspended/Invalid and Reckless Driving. 

He was additionally charged with two outstanding Nueces County warrants for Driving While License Suspended/Invalid and Contempt of Court.  The two warrants had No Bond set.

Gang Unit Officers spotted a stolen vehicle and attempted to pull over the white Toyota Camry.  The driver Ricardo Eugene Bolden (06/07/69) refused to stop and fled.  Bolden kept throwing items out of the vehicle as he drove off; failing to stop at a couple of stop signs.  The pursuit was terminated.

Police were called 20 to 30 minutes later for a disturbance with a weapon involving the owner of the vehicle and the suspect.  Bolden refused to turn the car over to the victim and pulled a knife out in order to escape.

The owner of the Camry told Officers that Bolden ran the red light at Horne and Hwy 286 Access when it was struck by a gray BMW 528I.  The driver, 35 and three passengers, 19, 12, and 1 were uninjured in the wreck.   Bolden pulled out a wheelchair and fled. 

Bolden was quickly captured and arrested.  He was booked at the City Detention Center after being medically cleared.  Bolden was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Accident Involving Damage to Vehicle.

Dollar General Robbery Suspect Arrested

Corpus Christi Police Officers have arrested the suspect wanted for the Dollar General robbery which occurred on October 5, 2013.  At 11:13am, store employees called Police to the Dollar General located at 3130 Morgan Avenue and reported being robbed at knifepoint.  A store clerk sustained a minor cut to her finger when the robbery suspect slashed at her.  He was able to take an undetermined amount of money and get away in a Sports Utility Vehicle.

Detectives were able to follow-up on tips which led them to Juan Vela (09/11/67) who was identified as the suspect involved in the Dollar General robbery.  On October 9, 2013 at 10:47pm, Vela turned himself in to Officers in the City Hall parking lot.  He was booked at the City Detention Center and charged with the outstanding  Aggravated Assault warrant.  His bond was set at $100,000.

Man Arrested for Murder

The Texas Rangers arrested Jose Alfredo Saldana (12.2.1987) in San Antonio on Wednesday 10.9.2013 on a Murder warrant out of Nueces County. 

Officers were dispatched for a man down (assault injuries) at 2751 S. Port Avenue and found a 52-year-old man lying in the parking lot. He was taken to Spohn Memorial where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, 10.6.2013. Detectives with the Robbery/Homicide Division obtained the Murder warrant for Jose Saldana.

With the assistance of the Texas Rangers, Saldana was arrested in San Antonio on Wednesday, 10.10.2013 and booked into the Bexar County Jail. He was transported back to Corpus Christi by Detectives and booked into the City Detention Center late Wednesday evening.

This is the 14th Criminal Homicide for 2013 in Corpus Christi.

Corpus Christi Property Crimes Detectives are asking the public’s assistance to help identify the suspects involved in the shoplifting theft of bras and panties valued at $5,700.

Store surveillance video shows two men and a woman walk into the Victoria’s Secret and steal the undergarments.    The videos have been uploaded to the Police Department’s YouTube account at  http://youtu.be/0vRoC2hDKoo and  http://youtu.be/NhKQC–ZRDk.
