Suspicious Door to Door Sales Team Identified

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

We have received several calls from concerned citizens and media reference door to door saleswomen asking about children in the household. We have discovered these four women to be employees of Southwestern Advantage, Inc.

These women are from the Republic of Estonia and are in Corpus Christi conducting door to door sales to help pay for their college tuition. They have vendor licenses with the City of Corpus Christi which allows them to sell children’s books from 9:00 a.m to 9:00 p.m.

Karmen Benno, Helen Aasa, Kristin Tamvee, and Krystal Tuul will continue to conduct door to door sales for three more days.

As a precaution please follow these safety tips with any door to door salesperson:

If you are unsure if a solicitor is legitimate, ask for ID verifying that they are employed by the company they claim to work for. If they don’t have any I.D., tell them to leave.

If solicitor refuses to leave after being asked to, or becomes irate, shut the door. If they still don’t leave, call the CCPD at 911.

If you don’t feel comfortable giving the solicitor money, a check or credit card information, don’t!

Never let anyone into your home or to look at your computer.

Do not let anyone “guilt” you into giving them money or buying their product.

Don’t share personal information about your friends or neighbors.

Read the fine print to any contract you sign for additional fees or monthly membership fees.

Please contact the Police Department at 361-886-2600 if any questions about their legitimacy remain.
