Three auto burglaries were reported from the 1300 block of Calle San Lucas.  A 2003 Ford F150, a 2008 Ford F250, and 2014 Ford Mustang were burglarized.  Taken from the vehicles were a radio, an iPod, and cash.

Police contacted the 33-year-old store clerk who reported being robbed at knifepoint by a masked man.  The suspect stole the money from the register and a carton of cigarettes.  Neither the store manager nor the clerk were injured during the robbery.

The suspect is described as Hispanic man, standing 5’10” feet tall to 6’ feet tall, and weighing 130 to 150 lbs.  He was last seen wearing a black   t-shirt, blue jeans, and a mask.

Detectives Make Arrest In Burglary Cases

UPDATE: Detectives working the Greenbriar and Fitzhugh Burglary cases obtained information that one of men involved was Jesse Robert Jimenez (DOB 3.12.1993). Patrol Officers had contacted Jimenez during a traffic stop on July 31, 2013 where he was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of a Controlled Substance (Case # 1307310166). He is currently in the Nueces Co. Jail.

Jimenez has been charged with the Burglary on Greenbriar and preparations are being made to charge him with the Burglary on Fitzhugh.

Detectives continue to follow-up on leads to identify the others involved. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers @ 888-TIPS.

A 14-year-old home alone told Police he heard a large noise and went to investigate.  He walked out to his room to find a Hispanic man inside the residence.  The teenager startled the man and he ran out of the residence.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, standing 5’6″ to 5’7″ feet tall, and weighing 230 lbs.  The man had his face covered with a bandana and armed with a baseball bat.  He was wearing a white muscle shirt and blue jeans.

Approximately forty minutes later, Police were called to the Greenbriar Drive residence where a 40-year-old woman told Officers she heard banging on a side door.  When she walked over to the door, she observed a Hispanic male with his face covered.  He asked her to open the door and she refused, motioning that she was calling Police.

The man fled and joined a couple of other men who were attempting to open a garage door.  The men drove off in white Volkswagen Jetta.

The suspect is described as stocky Hispanic man with a spiked hair and standing 5’6″ feet tall. He was wearing a white muscle shirt.  The other suspects were only described as Hispanic men.

Detectives are looking at the possibility that both burglaries are related.  The investigation is ongoing and being conducted by the Police Department’s Homicide/Robbery Bureau.  If you have any information concerning this crime, please call the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division at 361-886-2841.

A 55-year-old man reported to the Corpus Christi Police that someone forced entry into his home without permission and took a variety of tools and fishing gear. The 55-year-old man found some of his property nearby and the suspect fled the area once Officers arrived. The suspect was not apprehended, but described as a white male about 30 years of age, 5 foot 7 inches tall, 150 pounds, with light brown hair, and wore a white sleeveless shirt, and shorts.

A 30-year-old man was arrested Sunday night at 3130 Mill Brook Drive for warrants of arrest after neighbors called in a report of a suspicious person.

Corpus Christi Police went to the 3100 block of Mill Brook Drive Sunday night at 10:00pm to investigate a suspicious man in a backyard. Police knocked on the door and asked if the man belonged at the home. Police Officers identified 30-year-old Jeremy Crabtree as a fugitive with two warrants for arrest; one for failing to appear to court for drug possession and the other for interference with public duties.

Crabtree was arrested and delivered to the city detention center.

Police Investigate 3 Car Jackings On A Single Day

Corpus Christi Police are looking for two Hispanic men who took several vehicles by force from three separate locations in Corpus Christi on August 4, 2013.

Corpus Christi Police received the first complaint at 3:34am on August 4 at 3802 Caravelle Parkway. A 28-year-old woman said she pulled into a parking space and was approached by a man with a white bandana over his face and displayed a handgun then demanded her car. The 28-year-old woman took the keys to her car and walked away. The man was unable to leave with the car.

Police received a second complaint at 6702 Everhart Road at 4:03am from a 33-year-old woman. The 33-year-old woman said two Hispanic men took her black 2008 Ford Focus. The woman said one man had a blue bandana over his face and the second had a red bandana over his face. The 33-year-old woman said one of the men displayed a handgun and demanded her car. The car has not been located.

The third complaint was made at 8:51am at 3802 Highway 77 by a 32-year-old woman. The 32-year-old woman said a black Ford Focus tailgated her so she pulled into a parking lot to allow it to pass. The vehicle instead blocked her and a man ran from the Focus to her car. The man had a red bandana over his face and displayed a handgun, then demanded her car. The 32-year-old woman said she got out of her silver 2013 Honda Civic and the man drove away. The Honda Civic was located at 11:13 by the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office in a barn near County Road 22 and County Road 43.

No person was injured in the episode and the suspects are still at large.

Police Investigate Monday Morning Shooting

A man was taken to the hospital by ambulance with life threatening injuries from the 4600 block of Ramona Drive Monday morning.

Corpus Christi Police were called to the 4600 block of Ramona Drive at 2:42am in response to a shooting. Responding Police Officers discovered a man in the street with obvious injuries which appear to have been caused by gunfire and the man was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Corpus Christi Police Robbery/Homicide Detectives and Corpus Christi Police Forensics Lab Technicians responded to the scene to collect evidence and process information. Detectives have gathered information from several witnesses and are working on a detailed suspect description.

The suspect remains at large and the only verified description at the time of this report is that the suspect drove away in a white car with tinted windows.

Man Safely Surrenders After Sunday Morning Standoff

A 23-year-old man safely surrendered after a standoff with the Corpus Christi Police Sunday morning on the 2500 block of Viola Avenue.

No injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire or the standoff. Corpus Christi Police responded to the 2500 block of Viola Avenue at 9:16am after a complaint that a 23-year-old man discharged a firearm several times and threatened suicide. The 23-year-old man went inside his home and said that he would not be taken by authorities alive.

The Corpus Christi Police SWAT team and the Hostage Negotiation Team arrived and established communication with the 23-year-old man. The 23-year-old man, Joshua Bocanegra (3/4/1990) safely surrendered to police at about 10:52am and was arrested for Deadly Conduct.

Corpus Christi Police Property Detectives are asking the public’s assistance to help identify a young woman involved in the theft a $2,000 Louis Vuitton.  The 24-year-old victim left the purse in the women’s restroom of Hester’s Cafe.  When the victim returned for her purse, she discovered it was gone.

Surveillance video shows a young Hispanic female carrying the victim’s purse. The suspect was accompanied by a Hispanic man and woman who can be seen carrying a young child.  The purse was found at the Bleu Frog Mercantile.

CCPD Conducts Speed Enforcement Operation

On 1 Aug 2013 Officers assigned to the Traffic Division conducted a speed enforcement operation on State Highway 181 near the Harbor Bridge and State Highway 358 (S.P.I.D.).

During the operation officers stopped 114 vehicles and issued citations for 153 violations. Of those 153 violations, 95 were for speeding.  10 were for speeding, in excess of 20 mph over the posted speed limit, with the fastest speed being 86 mph in a 55 mph zone.

13 of the speeding citations met the criteria for aggressive driving under the Operation S.A.D. initiative. 

The Traffic Safety Division will continue to conduct speed enforcement operations throughout the city.

Corpus Christi Police Hit and Run Investigators have filed charges on the suspect responsible for the early morning accident involving three vehicles.

The driver of a red Chevrolet Camaro was traveling southbound on Kirkwood Drive when he struck a parked Chevrolet Cobalt which was pushed into a Chevrolet Silverado.  The driver fled leaving a piece of the front bumper behind.

Hit and Run Investigators narrowed down the suspect vehicle to four vehicles in the city.  Officer G. Casas located the Camaro and identified the driver.

Felipe Morales (04/09/93) was cited for Unsafe Change from a Direct Course and Failure to Remain and Report at an Accident.
