Officers contacted the 32-year-old victim who reported being assaulted and stabbed as he walked home from a local convenience store.  He told Officers a white SUV pulled up next to him and several males jumped out of the vehicle.  One of the men tried to take his cell phone, while another man stabbed him.  The victim sustained several lacerations to his arm.  He refused to be taken to the hospital.

The suspects are described as young Hispanic males with short hair.  All of them were wearing white tank tops.  He also told Officers two women and a male driver stayed in the vehicle.

Police were called to a local hotel for a possible kidnapping and arrived to find a distraught girlfriend of one of the parties involved.  The woman told Officers several men confronted her boyfriend as he sat in his vehicle.    The boyfriend, 27, was driving out of the parking lot when he was intentionally struck by a white SUV as it tried to block him in.  The victim was able to speed away, but the SUV continued to chase after him. 

At the same time, the Police Department received a call for assistance from the Texas A & M University Police.  They advised they were in pursuit of a white Chevrolet Tahoe which was occupied by four to five males.  The SUV was able to get away.  The owner of the Tahoe was contacted and he advised it had been stolen. 

The victim returned to the Bay Shore Inn and told Officers he drove past TAMUCC where University Police began pursuing the White Tahoe.  The suspects are described as Hispanic men, 18 to 25 years of age, with short dark hair.

Brittney Nicole Mason (10/22/92) was arrested and charged with an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear on an Assault charge.  No Bond was set.

Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Narcotic Vice Investigations Division along with the assistance of Gang Officers served a search warrant at 1205 Winnebago.  A search of the residence led to the seizure of a stolen firearm, 2.33 grams of crack cocaine and a cash seizure of $1419.

Charles Flores (01/06/83) was arrested and charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Theft of a Firearm.  He was booked at the City Detention Center.

Two Men Arrested; Drugs Seized

Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Narcotic Vice Investigations Division along with the assistance of Patrol Officers served a search warrant at 3002 Antelope Street.  A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of 8 pounds of Marijuana, 2.48 grams of Methamphetamine, one hit of acid, and $2806 in cash.

Jose Juan Moreno (05/09/91) and Eleazar Leo Martinez (12/07/92) were both arrested and booked at the City Detention Center.   Moreno was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana, both 3rd degree felonies.  Martinez was charged with a State Jail Felony count of Possession of a Controlled Substance and a misdemeanor count of Possession of Marijuana when he was found to have a hit of acid and marijuana on his person.

Officers investigating a call for service involving a Chevrolet pick-up truck being driven recklessly in the area of 15200 Windward Drive.  Callers advised the driver almost struck several vehicles as it drove on the wrong side of the road.  Officers attempted to stop the truck, but the driver refused to stop throwing out baggies out the window.

The driver Eliazar Vincent Chapa IV (05/12/94) pulled into his residence at 2113 Harriet Drive and he was taken into custody.  Chapa’s 19-year-old girlfriend and their two-year-old son were also in the truck.  Both were uninjured and released.

Chapa was arrested and booked at the City Detention Center.  He was charged with Evading Arrest in a Vehicle, Abandoning/Endangering a Child~Criminal Negligence, and Tampering with Evidence.  The baggies were located and found to contain synthetic marijuana.

Police responded to the area for a shots fired call and found a 15-year-old juvenile walking towards them with a box in his hands. As he did so, a witness batted the box out of the juvenile’s hands causing the box to fall on the ground, revealing its contents. Officers recovered a firearm which was found to be stolen from Aransas Pass in 2011. The 15-year-old was placed in police custody and booked at the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center. He was charged with Theft of a Firearm.

Another 15-year-old was also found to have an active warrant and arrested. He was charged with the outstanding Nueces County warrant for Violation of a Court Order on an Aggravated Robbery charge.

Police were called to the area for a “nature unknown” call. Upon their arrival, Officers contacted a 61-year-old man who reported being assaulted and robbed. The man told Officers he was knocked to the ground and kicked in the face. The suspect then took his wallet. The victim was taken to Spohn Memorial with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers searched the area, but were unable to find the robber, who is described as a Black male and approximately 5’7” feet tall. Police were called to Cavendar’s Boot City for a shoplifter who had hidden a couple of pairs of jeans valued at $107 inside her purse. The suspect then had her 12-year-old daughter walk out of the store with her purse.

Alma Gloria Esquivel (11/20/76) was arrested and charged with Theft~Shoplifting Two or More Previous Convictions.  Her misdemeanor charge was upgraded to a State Jail Felony.  The daughter was not charged and released to family members.

A loss prevention officer was shoved to the ground after he contacted a man for stealing a couple of bags of chips and a candy bar.  The man fled, running towards S. Staples Street and S. Padre Island Drive.  The victim sustained minor scrapes and abrasions.

The suspect is described as a bushy haired Hispanic man, early 20’s, standing 5’5” feet tall, and weighing 160 lbs.  He was last seen wearing white t-shirt, dark-colored pants and shoes.

A distraught 20-year-old woman walked into the apartment complex office asking for assistance after she’d been assaulted by her boyfriend.  Witnesses told police they observed Gilbert Rojas (02/14/95) slap the victim.

Officers searched for Rojas and found him attempting to the leave the complex.  As Officers blocked Rojas’ escape, he jumped out of the car and took off running.  Officers chased Rojas east on Cimarron Boulevard, through a convenience store parking lot, and over a fence.  Rojas who had an ankle monitor was caught and arrested.  He was charged with Assault and Evading Arrest.

Police are investigating an assault in which a 33-year-old man pointed a firearm at the 24-year-old victim after a disturbance.  The victim attempted to lure the suspect away from the apartment and away from his family.  The neighbors called police and the suspect fled prior to the officers arrival.

4th of July Beach – Update

4th of July Enforcement and Operations – Update

During the 4th of July weekend the Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) assigned an additional six officers to the beach. The following numbers are from the additional assignment.

Arrests: 12
Firework Citations: 2
Directive to Apprehend: 1
Curfew: 2
Minor in Possession: 3

The CCPD also joined forces with the Fire Department to enforce the Consumer Fireworks ordinance during the night of the 4th of July. In all, 21 citations were issued during this enforcement period.

Between 6 p.m. July 4th to 5 a.m. July 5th the Corpus Christi Police Department’s MetroCom recieved 1,178 calls for service. Of those calls, 395 were solely for fireworks.

Officers Find Pipe Bomb During Assault Call

Officers were called to 14000 Block of SPID for an intoxicated suspect who had been involved in a disturbance.

Officers located the suspect’s vehicle behind the Ocean Treasures building located at 14049 SPID. They observed a man, later identified as Anthony Quintanilla (12.5.1988,) in the field next to the building. Officers observed him to have something in his hand. When the Officers made contact with Quintanilla he dropped the item in the field and was soon taken into custody.

Officers located the item that Quintanilla had dropped in the field. They believed it to be an explosive device (Pipe Bomb). Officers secured the scene and called for the CCPD Bomb Squad. The bomb squad was able to locate the device and make it safe. The field was then searched for additional devices but none were found. Officers received assistance from the US Navy Bomb Squad along with agents from the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) in searching the field and also the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect’s vehicle was impounded.

Quintanilla was arrested for Public Intoxication and Assault and was taken to the City Detention Center.

QUintanilla could possibly be facing additional charges for the bomb like device that was found. The CCPD Bomb Squad is working in cooperation with ATF on that case.
