MORE TRAFFIC ARRESTS

The Corpus Christi Police Department continues to combat reckless driving. Over the last 2 evenings several individuals were arrested for either reckless driving or racing.

Downtown Patrol Officers and Violent Crimes Traffic Officers observed these motorists driving recklessly or racing with another vehicle, in various locations such as Water St, Ocean Dr, Shoreline Blvd, and Ennis Joslin.

Jesus Palomo was arrested for racing, possession of marijuana, and unlawful carrying of a weapon. Christian Trevino was also arrested during the same incident for racing.

OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLES

The Corpus Christi Police Department would like to remind residents about the rules regarding the operation of off-highway vehicles and golf carts within master planned communities.

• All off-highway vehicles, to include golf carts, must be registered with Nueces County.

• A license plate must be affixed to the rear of the vehicle.

• Operators must possess a valid driver’s license.

• Vehicles are not permitted on roads posted over 35 miles per hour, and must obey all traffic laws.

In addition, in reference to electric scooters: 

• Ensure children are wearing helmets.

• Riders must obey the rules of the roadway and all traffic laws.

• Ride as far the right as possible or on the sidewalk.

These requirements are in place for the safety of everyone in the community. We appreciate your cooperation in helping maintain a safe environment for all residents.

NVID “Jane” Sting

On September 10, 2025, the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Narcotics Vice Investigations Division conducted a “Jane” sting in the areas of Port Ave/Ruth St, Agnes St/19th St, and the Leopard Corridor and San Diego Park.

Five women were taken into custody and interviewed by the Red Cord prior to being booked into CDC.

UPDATE: Shooting-700 N Shoreline

ADDITIONAL UPDATE: On September 15, 2025, Robbery Homicide detectives were able to secure a Murder warrant in reference to the Shoreline Blvd shooting.

Officers in the Violent Crimes Unit were able to take Nathan Iruegas (23) into custody without incidence at a residence in the 3700 block of Lamont St.

Iruegas was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

On September 15, 2025, the shooting victim succumbed to his injuries. This is still an active investigation, and Detectives are following up on leads.

ORIGINAL: On September 14, 2025, at 3:10 am, Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department were dispatched to the 700 block of N Shoreline Blvd in reference to a shooting. 

When officers arrived, they located a male victim with a gunshot wound. Medics transported the male to a local hospital in critical condition. 

CCPD’s Criminal Investigation Division, Violent Crimes Unit, and Gang Unit responded to the scene to investigate. 

It was later determined that a disturbance occurred at the location and a weapon was then produced. 

This is an active and ongoing investigation.

STOLEN E-BIKE ARREST

On September 5, 2025, at approximately 9:45 am, Corpus Christi Police Bike Officers arrived at a residence in the 1600 block of Marguerite St. for an investigation, in reference to a business burglary that occurred earlier in the week On Shoreline Blvd.

Bike Officers received information that stolen E-Bikes were at the residence.

When bike officers arrived, they contacted several subjects in and around the residence. Bike officers observed an E-Bike in the living room of the residence.

Property Crime Detectives were called out to assist and a search warrant was obtained for the residence.

Officers were able to locate one of the stolen E-Bikes from the recent burglary. This property was confirmed through matching serials numbers and business logos.

Several individuals were interviewed at main station in reference to the stolen merchandise.

Jorge Garica (51) was ultimately arrested for Theft &750<$2500 (A).

Another individual who was also contacted, Rene Sanchez (51), was arrested for an outstanding Parole warrant. He was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance PG1 and resisting arrest.

Both males were transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

This is still an ongoing investigation.

City Council Arrests Sept 2, 2025

During the City Council meeting on September 2, 2025, several individuals were repeatedly disruptive despite being asked to stop. Both the Mayor and law enforcement officers requested compliance to maintain order and allow the meeting to proceed. When those individuals failed to comply, the officers made the decision to proceed with arrests.

The disruptions included the use of profane language and behavior clearly intended to interrupt the meeting. While we strongly encourage the public’s right to voice their opinions and participation, it is important to uphold the integrity and order of public meetings so that all voices can be heard respectfully.

PANAMA DR. DRUG ARRESTS

On August 27, 2025, at 5:39 pm, Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department were dispatched to the 3900 block of Panama Dr in reference to a Drug Possession call.

Officers arrived along with assistance from Narcotics Vice Investigation Divisions (NVID). It was determined that the residents did have access to weapons. It was also confirmed that a 19-year-old female was inside of the location and had an active Warrant of Arrest.

Officers successfully called out the female, as well as an 18-year-old male, after a lengthy period of time.

Both the male and female were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG2, Possession of a Controlled Substance PG3, and Possession of Marijuana. The female was additionally charged with a Warrant of Arrest.  

Items Seized:

•           1.7 pounds of Marijuana

•           175 THC Vape pens

•           4.33 grams of Alprazolam pills

•           1.6 grams of THC wax

•           2- 5.56mm rifle pistols

•           $6,971 in U.S. Currency

SHOOTING ON AYERS ST.

On August 20, 2025, at 6:16 pm, Corpus Christi Police Officers were flagged down at the intersection of Ayers St. and Arlington Dr. in reference to a shooting.

Officers were told by an injured victim, a male exited a nearby store and shot at him. The male suspect then walked across Ayers St. As Officers were speaking to the victim, they could hear shots being fired from across the street.

Officers went across the street and observed a male carrying a handgun. Officers gave the male commands to which he complied. The male was taken into custody without incident.

Two victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation several victims and witnesses were contacted.

Officers were able to determine the male suspect was previously involved in a disturbance with someone, when he walked out of the store and began to fire his weapon recklessly.

Ernesto Mondragon Jr. (33YOA) was ultimately arrested and charged with 9 counts of Aggravated Assault w/ a Deadly Weapon. He was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

MAKE THAT TWO MORE

On August 10, 2025, at approximately 1:34 am, VCU Officers observed a truck traveling at speeds near 100 mph west bound on HWY 358. The truck exited the highway and continued driving aggressively and recklessly, continuing to disregard the speed limit.

The truck was stopped and the driver taken into custody. The driver, Roy Blaker (21), was arrested for Reckless Driving. He was additionally charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.

Later that morning, Officers observed a vehicle disregard a stop sign at an intersection on Shoreline Blvd. and accelerated at a high-speed causing the tires to squeal, thus attracting attention to themselves.

The vehicle continued to drive aggressively down Shoreline Blvd. cutting in and out of traffic on the roadway.

The vehicle attempted to park and hide once they observed Officers behind them.

Officers were able to stop the vehicle and take the driver into custody.

The driver, Elijah Garcia (23), was arrested for Reckless Driving and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Two passengers in the vehicle were released.
