76-Year-Old Storeowner Unharmed During Robbery

Occurred on 12/27/11, 6:50 p.m.   Aggravated Robbery   3302 S.Port     1112270108

 Officers contacted the owner of Choe’s Food Market who reported a Black male robbed him at knife point.  The owner told Officers the suspect entered in the store, selected a drink from the cooler area and walked to the counter. 

The suspect grabbed the victim and held him at  knife point as he demanded the cash register to be opened.   The robber stole an undetermined amount of money and fled out the store.

The suspect is described as a Black male, 35 to 45 years of age, 6’ to 6’1” feet tall and weighing 160 lbs.  He was last seen wearing a black sweater, black pants, and a beanie.

Hello 911, Where am I?

Occurred on 12/26/11, 02:59 a.m.  Minor Accident   8400 SPID    C1109356

The 26-year-old owner of a black 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck called 911 to report he woke up in the middle of a “river”.  The caller told Dispatchers he was trying to GPS himself on his smart phone.

Upon their arrival Officers found the pick-up truck approximately 50 feet out in the Oso Bay and in three feet of water.  They contacted the owner of the vehicle who reported he’d been drinking and allowed the suspect to drive his truck.

Further investigation revealed the truck was traveling eastbound in the 8400 block of S. Padre Island Drive when the driver failed to negotiate the turnaround and drove into the Oso Bay.  The unidentified suspect was involved in the accident and fled the scene.

The victim was transported to Bay Area Hospital for minor injuries.

Hotel Clerk Uninjured During Robbery

Occurred on 12/26/11, 5:37 p.m.   Aggravated Robbery   845 Lantana     1112260099

Officers responded to a robbery at the Motel 6 and contacted the 34-year-old clerk who reported a White male approached him while he was working at the hotel check-in area and demanded money. 

The clerk told Officers the suspect stated he was armed with a gun and he complied with the suspect’s demands, handing him an undetermined amount of money.

The robber then ran out the lobby towards the west side parking lot where he fled in an older model vehicle.

The suspect is described as a skinny White male, 38 to 43 years of age, 5’5” to 5’8” feet tall with salt and pepper hair.  He was last seen wearing a sports jacket, black ski mask, and blue jeans.  The vehicle is described as an older model blue Oldsmobile.

Early Morning Bandit Apprehended

12.23.2011/4:15am   Burglary of a Vehicle   3700 Starlight   1112230026

Early this morning, Officers received a call for two subjects wearing hoodies that were breaking into vehicles. The call was updated that the victim and his son were chasing the suspects down the road. Several Officers converged in the area and were able to locate one of the hooded subjects. He was identified as Jose Pruneda 1-20-1991. He was booked for Burglary of a Vehicle. The second subject was not located.

Officers were only able to recover some of the items that were taken. The victims advised Officers that the vehicle, that had been burglarized, was left unlocked.

Wrong Way Driver Arrested for DWI

12.23.2011/2:23 a.m.    D.W.I.    2800 SH 358 (SPID) EB    112230019

Officers responded to a major accident in the 2800 block of SH 358 (S.P.I.D.).  Gonzalo Reyes (3-1-84) had driven his Dodge Neon onto the freeway the wrong way up the Kostoryz off ramp.  One car avoided him but a one-ton Chevrolet truck, pulling a 40 foot float trailer, was unable to take evasive action.  The Neon struck the driver’s side with its right front fender, causing the truck and trailer to jackknife.  Reyes fled the scene, but was brought back by his father shortly thereafter. Reyes was booked for D.W.I.

 

At the Right Place – At the Right Time

An off duty Officer, who was at a local Speedy Stop, stumbled onto a disturbance that landed one individual in jail.

As the Officer was shopping he noticed that the store clerk was attempting to stop an individual from leaving the store with items he had concealed in his jacket. The Officer then approached the subject and identified himself as a Police Officer both verbally and visually, by displaying his badge.

The Officer then asked the individual to retrieve the stolen items from his jacket and wait for police.  The suspect did not like the idea and attempted to assault the Officer. He swung and missed the Officer but struck the clerk instead. The Officer attempted to take the individual into custody but the subject began to struggle with him. Eventually, the officer was able to detain the individual until on-duty Officers arrived and placed the subject in custody.

After giving several false names, the individual was identified as Hector Trillo (11-14-1969) He was booked for Robbery and Fail to Identify (Fugitive from Justice).

 

No Beer Here

 12/22/11, 8:15 p.m.  Burglary – Aggravated Assault   2745 Rogers    1112220119

Officers and medics were dispatched to 2745 Rogers for a stabbing that had just occurred. Upon arrival they contacted a 67-year-old male victim with injuries to his arm.

He informed Officers that he was sleeping when a neighbor came into the victim’s home uninvited. The neighbor was demanding beer from the victim. When the victim stated that he did not have any beer the neighbor became irate and began to assault him, stabbing him in the process with a kitchen knife.

The suspect, described as a  31-year-old male, fled the scene prior to the arrival of Officers.

The victim was treated at the scene by medics.  The steak knife was collected by crime scene personnel as evidence.

In continuing the efforts of “Keeping Corpus Christi Safe” Narcotics/Vice Officers executed a search warrant at 4418 Moravian, after conducting an undercover operation at this address.

Wanted Subject from Beeville Police Dept.

The Beeville Police Department’s Homicide and Robbery Division is asking for the public’s help in locating Javier Omar Hernandez 2.15.89.

Hernandez was involved in a home invasion robbery in Beeville on Monday November 14, 2011.  Hernandez is 22 years old and is described as 5’10” with black hair and brown eyes.

There is currently an active Aggravated Robbery warrant for his arrest.
