UPDATE: Gilbert has been located.

The Corpus Christi Police Department is requesting your assistance in locating a missing elderly male. Gilbert Garza, age 72, was reported missing by family today, June 20, 2025. Gilbert was last contacted on June 18, 2025. Gilbert possibly suffers from undiagnosed dementia and wanders off.

Gilbert stands at a height of 5 feet 8 inches and weighs approximately 170 pounds.

AGAIN, AND AGAIN AND AGAIN.

Violent Crimes Traffic units continue to make arrests.

Over that past few evenings VCU Traffic units arrested 3 individuals for reckless driving and other offenses.

Juan Ortiz Munoz (19) was arrested on Ocean Dr. after he was observed by Officers traveling twice the speed limit and dangerously changing lanes as if he were the only one on the road.

Tanner Loesch (22) was also arrested on a separate occasion on Ocean Dr. for reckless driving, unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of marijuana.  He was observed by Officers driving well over the speed limit and driving erratically through traffic and other motorists.

Hailey Campos (19) was arrested near Airline and Williams for reckless driving, possession of marijuana and tampering. She was observed by officers driving erratically through traffic and putting other motorists in danger.

ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

The Corpus Christi Police Department’s Traffic Division is continuing the investigation into the motorcycle fatality that took place at the 100 block of SH 358 west bound at 2:32 am on Monday June 9, 2025.

Investigators are asking for anyone that may have witnessed the crash to please call the traffic division at 361-886-2596.

Investigators believe a white vehicle may possible have been involved and they are attempting to speak with the driver of the vehicle.

Help Us Locate a Missing Female

The Corpus Christi Police Department is requesting your assistance in locating a missing female. Melinda Martinez, age 58, was last seen in December 2024. Melinda suffers from early stages of dementia.

Melinda stands at a height of 4 feet 10 inches and weighs approximately 110 pounds. Melinda is homeless and is said to frequent the Staples Street Station, Mother Teresa Shelter, and the area of Horne Rd./Columbia St.

Pedestrian Accident 3800 S. Staples St.

On Sunday June 8, 2025, at approximately 2100 hrs., officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of S. Staples St. in reference to a major vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.

When officers arrived, CCFD was administering CPR to a 69-year-old male. The male was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

It was determined that the male was trying to cross the roadway, not at an intersection or crosswalk, when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene after the accident and immediately called for emergency services.

No foul play is suspected.

UPDATE: Aurora has been located and is reunited with family.

The Corpus Christi Police Department is requesting your assistance in locating an elderly female missing from the area. Aurora Margarita Barrera, age 85, was last observed at approximately 10:30 p.m. in the vicinity of 2800 Elizabeth Street. Aurora suffers from early stages of dementia.

Aurora stands at a height of 5 feet 1 inch and weighs approximately 130 pounds. She was dressed in a light pink shirt featuring black and white stripes on the sleeves and grey shorts.

SWAT Standoff 4200 Western Dr

UPDATE: Patrick Potter (63) was ultimately arrested and taken to the City Detention Center for booking.

On June 4, 2025 at approximately 3:56 pm, officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of Western Dr. in reference to a disturbance in progress. The call came in as an open-line disturbance between a male and a female.

Officers arrived and observed the male suspect, who quickly shut the front door, and a female standing in the front yard with apparent minor injuries. A perimeter was set, and SWAT, HNT, and the Drone Unit were called to the scene.

A while later, HNT contacted a male in his 60s from inside the residence. The male eventually released an elderly female. A short time later, the male suspect surrendered and was taken into custody without issue.

All parties were checked by medics on scene. The male was transported to a local hospital for evaluation due to injuries acquired during the initial disturbance.

The male is facing charges for Burglary with the Intent to Commit a Felony.

AGAIN AND AGAIN. GUESS THEY HAVEN’T HEARD.

Over the last three evenings the Violent Crimes Traffic Unit has arrested 8 individuals for traffic related offenses, continuing to combat reckless driving.

These individuals were arrested on separate occasions and at different locations in the city. Highway 358, South Padre Island Dr, Ocean Dr. and Shoreline Blvd are the common locations for this reckless behavior.

These individuals were observed either going well over 100 mph in a 65mph zone, driving recklessly through traffic, or racing with another. All vehicles were impounded and in some arrests a weapon was located.

Another reminder you will be arrested for this dangerous behavior. Spread the word!

WANTED HOUSTON OFFENDER ARRESTED IN CORPUS CHRISTI

On May 29, 2025, at approximately 9:55 pm Corpus Christi Police Officers were notified of a BOLO/broadcast in reference to a murder that took place in Houston, Texas earlier in the day. During this incident a vehicle was stolen.

The stolen vehicle was tracked to the Corpus Christi area.

 Nueces County Sheriff’s Office Deputies located the stolen vehicle abandoned on county road 43 just south of county road 2444. The vehicle was still warm to the touch.

CCPD Gang Unit, Violent Crimes Unit, along with K9 arrived in the area of co rd 43 to assist deputies with the search.

Units deployed drones (UAS) to assist in checking this rural area surrounded by fields.

Officers were able to locate an individual in the middle of an empty field and safely take him into custody. A handgun was located on the male.

Officers were able to positively identify the male as the wanted offender from Houton, Tx.

The male was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance.

Offender Alexis Garcia (20) was transported to the City Detention Center where he was booked for two Harris County warrants felony theft (Unauthorized Use of a motor vehicle), warrant Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
