Narcotics and Vice Investigators Seize Drugs from Cain Drive

Corpus Christi Police Narcotics and Vice Investigators arrested 32-year-old Crystal Maldonado (1/8/1984) Friday afternoon for manufacturing or delivering controlled substances at her residence located on the 5000 block of Cain Drive.

Corpus Christi Police Department Narcotics Vice Investigations Division, assisted by Directed Patrol Officers, served a search and arrest warrant at 5022 Cain at 3:18 pm Friday afternoon.  During the search of the residence, investigators located and seized over 15 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 1.42 grams of brown powdered heroin.  Crystal Maldonado (1-8-84) was arrested charged with Health and Safety Code 481.112, Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1, 4 grams to 200 grams, which is a first degree felony.

 

Man Surrenders Safely After Standoff on Hiawatha

Corpus Christi Police arrested 23-year-old Gilbert Villanueva (12/17/1992) for Deadly Conduct and Theft of a Firearm Friday afternoon on the 400 block of Hiawatha after a 2 hour standoff with Police.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a driveby shooting on the 4000 block of Navajo Street at 2:17pm. Police were provided a description of the suspect and vehicle involved in the shooting and Officers found the suspect vehicle parked at a home on the 400 block of Hiawatha Street. Officers saw two men walk from the suspect vehicle into the house and the two men locked the door and refused to come outside and speak with the Officers. Officers summoned additional resources like the Corpus Christi Police SWAT team and Hostage Negotiation team to surround the home and establish a dialogue with the people inside the home. The 400 block of Hiawatha was closed to traffic at about 2:30pm. An elderly woman walked out of the home unharmed and met with Police. Shortly after the woman came out of the home, a man walked out unharmed and also met with Officers. Villanueva finally walked out and surrendered to Officers at 4:30pm and was arrested for deadly conduct for discharging a firearm on the 4000 block of Navajo Street. The 400 block of Hiawatha was reopened to normal use at 4:45pm.

No injuries were reported at the scene on Navajo or at Hiawatha.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives gathered information and evidence and discovered the firearm they believe was used in the shooting and learned the firearm was previously reported stolen in San Antonio. Villanueva was delivered to the city detention center for charges of Deadly Conduct and Theft of a Firearm.

Corpus Christi Police Narcotics Investigators Serve Search Warrant on Snowbird Street

The Corpus Christi Police Narcotics/Vice Investigators served a search warrant at a home on the 4200 block of Snowbird Street Thursday morning and seized narcotics, then arrested three people.

The Corpus Christi Police Investigators responded to numerous neighborhood complaints about quality of life issues which involved the residence at 4250 Snowbird. The Corpus Christi Police Narcotics Vice Investigators conducted an investigation into possible drug dealing from that residence.  This investigation resulted in the securing of a search and arrest warrant for the location. 

     The warrant was served on January 7, 2016 at about 0550 hours, with the assistance of Corpus Christi Police SWAT team. During this warrant service, quantities of methamphetamine, marijuana, hydroponic marijuana, THC wax, and prescription pills were located throughout the residence. 

     Three subjects were arrested.  They were:
Juan Manuel Sanchez III (5-1-92), who was charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG 1 >1<4 grams;
Adrian Pinon (9-19-96), who was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance PG2 and Possession of a Dangerous Drug;
and Gonzalez, Justin (8-6-96), who was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance PG2 and Possession of a Dangerous Drug. 

 

Police Investigate Shooting on Calle San Carlos

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a possible aggravated assault which happened at a residence on the 1300 block of Calle San Carlos Wednesday night.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a shooting at 8:49pm Wednesday night at the 1300 block of Calle San Carlos and found a 23-year-old man outside a home with obvious injuries which appeared to the Officers to have been caused by gunfire. An ambulance took the 23-year-old man to the hospital for treatment for his injuries. Officers began an investigation and summoned additional resources to the scene. The Corpus Christi Police Forensics Lab technicians were summoned with Corpus Christi Police Detectives to gather evidence and record statements from involved people.

Police continue to investigate this event and urge anyone with any information about this event to contact Corpus Christi Police at 886-2600.

Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives would like help from the public to identify and locate a woman who stole money from a wallet at a store in Calallen on December 13, 2015.

A 59-year-old woman reported her wallet lost to Corpus Christi Police at about 5pm on Sunday, December 13, 2015. The 59-year-old woman told Officers she placed the wallet on the counter in the garden center of the store located at the corner of Northwest Boulevard and Interstate Highway 69 when she completed the transaction, then walked away leaving the wallet in place by mistake. The 59-year-old woman told Officers she returned to the counter and the wallet was gone and the clerk denied having seen the wallet.

Officers viewed store surveillance video which showed a woman who was in line behind the 59-year-old woman pick up the wallet, leave the store with the wallet, but then returned to the same check out counter to return the wallet. When the 59-year-old woman was provided the wallet, her cash was gone from the wallet.

Corpus Christi Police are now investigating this event as a crime and would like help from the public to identify and locate the woman who took the wallet. The woman who took the wallet is described as an adult woman with medium brown skin, and she wore a pink long sleeve “Browning” brand sweatshirt, dark pants and tennis shoes. The video shows the woman as she goes through the wallet before she returned the wallet with no cash. The woman then left in a silver four door passenger car with missing hubcaps on the right front and right rear tires of the vehicle.

Auto Theft Task Force Wants Public Help to Identify Thieves on Kings Lake Drive

Detectives with the Corpus Christi Police Auto Theft Task Force would like help from the public to identify and locate two men believed to have stolen items from a vehicle parked in the driveway to a home on the 7600 block of Kings Lake Drive on December 12, 2015.

A 49-year-old woman reported the burglary to the Corpus Christi Police on December 13 and explained to Officers that some unknown person entered her black 2014 Toyota Tundra and stole a brief case and other items. The 49-year-old woman told Officers there was no forced entry to the unattended truck. The 49-year-old woman provided video moments after the burglary which shows two men walking away from the truck and one of the men carries a brief case believed to have been taken from the truck.

Traffic Closed on Ventura Lane for Two Hours This Afternoon

The 5600 block of Ventura Lane was closed to traffic for two hours this afternoon while Police attempted to investigate a welfare concern with a man who locked himself in his home and refused to communicate effectively with Police.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a call for a welfare concern at a home on the 5600 block of Ventura Lane at 3pm today in which the caller provided information that a person may be held inside involuntarily. Officers were met at the door to the home by a man who saw the Officers, then told the Officers to leave, and the man went inside his home and locked the door. The Officers attempted to communicate with the man, but the man refused. At about 4pm, the Officers summoned additional resources to help communicate with the man because information was learned that there were multiple people inside the home, and the Officers wanted to insure that no aid was needed. The Hostage Negotiation Team and the SWAT team responded to attempt to communicate with the people inside the home. The traffic was closed to the public a little after 4pm as a precaution. No homes were evacuated because there was no threat to the public, but residents were asked to remain inside.

A 9-year-old boy and an 11-year-old boy exited the house at about 5pm and Officers spoke to the boys to make sure they were not injured and there was no crime committed. A 20-year-old man exited the home at about 5:20pm and Officers spoke to the 20-year-old again to determine if there was any injured person or if any crime had been committed. Officers believed there was no threat of violence to any person, and there was no crime committed which merited immediate Police action, all people involved had been contacted and there were no injuries, so Officers found family members to care for the two boys, and then left the area. The man never established an effective dialogue with Officers. Officers were provided information that there may be an administrative violation of law which will continue to be researched for validity.

Police Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect

Corpus  Christi Police Detectives arrested 39-year-old Kenneth Burk (9/6/1976) Wednesday afternoon for a robbery at the a bank located at 4622 Everhart yesterday morning.

The U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Fugitives and Violent Offenders Task Force arrested Burk at a hotel located at 1026 South Padre Island Drive at about 1:30pm today for an aggravated robbery warrant related to the December 11 robbery at a restaurant located at 5441 Everhart Road. Detectives obtained evidence to support Burk’s involvement to several robberies in the area, including the bank robbery committed yesterday, and Burk was additionally charged for the bank robbery at 5pm today. Burk was delivered to the city detention center for two warrants for his arrest, the accusation for the bank robbery, and possession of a crystal material which Officers believe to be controlled substances which were found with Burk at the time of his arrest.

Man Steals From Store Office While Workers Help Customers

Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives would like help from the public to identify and locate a man who climbed a wall to get into the office of a store to steal money and cigarettes while the store was open for business.

A 46-year-old woman reported the theft to the Corpus Christi Police Department on December 14, 2015 and told Officers that she had video which showed an unknown man climbed over a wall at about 7:35pm to the store office and the unknown man stole money out of her wallet and 36 cartons of cigarettes an estimated value of about $2,160 dollars.

The 46-year-old woman provided video to the Officers and described the man as a man about 20 to 30 years of age with a thin build and dark hair. The video shows the man wore dark pants, a white long sleeve shirt and black jacket. Officer Involved In Shooting On Red River Road

A Corpus Christi Police Officer has been placed on administrative leave, as normal by department policy, after being involved in a shooting at a home located in the 14600 block of Red River Drive

Senior Officer Steven Gonzalez, a 7 year veteran of the department, is the Officer who shot and injured a man who pointed a gun at both the Officer and a Nueces County Sheriff’s Deputy while they were investigating a disturbance call involving a weapon at the home at 10:20 PM on Monday.

The Officer will remain on paid administrative leave until further notice.

The suspect, who pointed a gun at both the Officer and the Deputy has been charged with two counts of attempted capital murder. He is additionally charged aggravated assault family violence for assaulting and threatening his girlfriend. He will be booked into jail after he is treated and released from Spohn Memorial Hospital.
