Corpus Christi Police responded to several calls about shots being fired in the 4100 block of Teresa Street.

Officers arrived and were told by witnesses that two black males in a small black SUV were shooting at a man in a Toyota Rav 4 truck. The Toyota was found abandoned with the ignition on and radio playing in the 1100 block of Horne Road. It had the back window shot out.

Officers found six 9mm casings in the street.

No victims were located, and the license plates on the Toyota were from out of state. The vehicle was impounded.

At this time there is no description of any suspects that were involved.

A female called for police and ambulance service 35 times in one day and was arrested for abuse of the 911 service.

The female, Christina Turnbull (06/29/1957), made repeated 911 calls to request EMS service to her motel room located at the Valley Motel at 5300 Leopard Street.

After contacting the female several times during the day and finding nothing wrong, officers finally put a stop to the calls by arresting the women.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a report of a burglary with the suspect being detained in the parking lot of an apartment complex located at 4101 Brett Street.  Officers arrived to find the suspect, Johnny Barrera (08/08/1990), being held down by a 28 year old male victim of an auto burglary.

The victim told officers that he had walked out to his truck to find the suspect prying on the driver door handle. The suspect attempted to run and the victim caught him and yelled at someone to call the police.

Officers arrived and the suspect was arrested for burglary. He was additionally charged with failure to identify when he lied to officers about his real name.

After confirming his real name, officers determined that the suspect had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for failure to appear.

Suspect Swipes Wallet

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of a suspect they believe stole a wallet that a customer left behind on the counter at a Stripes Store on March 28.

A customer told officers that he discovered he left his wallet on the counter at the store and he immediately returned but the wallet was gone. The wallet contained several hundred dollars in cash as well as credit cards.

The clerk reviewed the store video and observed a Hispanic male wearing a black long sleeve black shirt pick up the wallet and put it in his pocket.  The suspect in this case was not located and detectives need your help in identifying this individual.

An argument over a cell phone call led to one man being shot in the forearm.

The disturbance started when a 51 year old female got into a verbal argument with another female over the phone because she kept calling her cell phone looking for a girl named “Mia.”

A short time after she hung up on the girl, she walked outside of her home which is located in the 700 block of Westchester Drive and was attacked by two Hispanic females.  During the attack, the victim was able to call out to her brother who was inside watching television.  When he walked out, he was shot in the arm by a man that got out of a white color Nissan that was parked in the street.

After the shooting the two female suspects and the male, who had shot the gun, got in to the vehicle and fled the scene.

The 56 year old male was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS with a single gunshot wound to his lower left arm.   The victims injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Officers were able to locate the white Nissan car, that the suspects had fled the scene in, parked at the La Siesta Motel located in the 4300 block of Leopard Street.  The suspect vehicle was impounded.

Officers checked a room at the motel for the suspects, but neither the male nor the two females were located. At this time officers continue to investigate this case, and no suspects have been arrested.

Animal Care Services Host Party To Aid Boy Who Suffered Dog Attack

 

Corpus Christi Animal Care Services hosted a party at their facility located at 2626 Holly Road to lift the spirits of a 12 year old boy who was attacked by a dog last month.

Corpus Christi Animal Care Services hosted a party today at their facility located at 2626 Holly Road for 12-year-old Manuel Torrez and gave him some presents to aid him in his recovery after Torrez was injured in a dog attack last month.  Manuel suffered over 6 bites and the employees at Animal Care Services bought him clothes to replace his torn outfit from the attack. A 12-year-old boy was taken to the hospital by ambulance after he was attacked by a dog on the 800 block of Vancura Drive Tuesday night. Corpus Christi Police responded to a call of the attack at 7:02pm Tuesday night and discovered the 12-year-old boy had injuries to his face and arms. The Corpus Christi Animal Care Services captured the dog and have scheduled the dog to be euthanized. The dog will then be taken to Austin for an examination for communicable diseases. Police Officers have identified the owner of the dog and there is a consideration for criminal charges to be applied against the dog’s owner.

Detectives will gather all the information to identify what criminal charges may be appropriate and by this report, there is no information on the latest condition of the 12-year-old boy. There is no information available about previous history of the dog or the identity of the breed or size of the dog that caused the injuries to the 12-year-old boy.

A 26 year old female called Corpus Christi Police after an ex-boyfriend broke into her home located in the 600 block of Robert Drive and threatened her and her mother.

The female called police after hearing a side window of her home being broken out.  While on the phone with 911, the man made his way into the home.  Also inside the home was the female’s 65 year old mother.

Officers arrived and took the male suspect into custody.  He continued to make threats against both women.

The female victim told officers that the ex-boyfriend continues to harass her at home and at her place of employment.

Rudy Lozano (11/29/1987) was arrested for breaking the window, making threat and harassment.  All of those charges are Class B misdemeanors.  He was additionally charged with stalking, a third degree felony.

A 43 year old male called Corpus Christi Police after he was robbed while working at a restaurant located at 5825 South Padre Island Drive.

The male victim said he was working as an exterminator when he was approached by another man in the parking lot.  The suspect said “give me all your money” and displayed a gun in his left hand.  The victim pulled out some cash and gave the suspect the money.

The suspect then fled on foot east from the restaurant parking lot.

Officers did not located the suspect, and continue to investigate this case.

Corpus Christi Police used a GPS service to track down a stolen Jeep and the suspect who had stolen it.

Police had originally been dispatched to an apartment in the 1800 block of Rodd Field Road about 90 minutes earlier. There they took a report from a 45 year old female who reported that her 2015 Jeep Cherokee had been stolen.

Officers were then directed to the 1500 block of Fifth Street by GPS equipped in the Jeep.  When officers arrived in the area, they observed the stolen Jeep parked in front of a home with a male suspect in the driver’s seat.

Officers took the man behind the wheel, James Greene (07/29/1992), into custody.  He has been charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a state jail felony

Suspect Steals Sunglasses From TSO

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of a suspect they believe is involved in a theft of several sunglasses on March 18.

A store employee of The Texas State Optical, located at 4117 South Staple Street, called Corpus Christi Police after a man walked in and selected two pair of sunglasses and left without paying for them.  The total value of the sunglasses was almost $400.

Detectives were able to obtain camera images from the stores security system that shows a male, 5’6” to 5’8” tall, medium build with dark hair, wearing a multi-colored long sleeve shirt, black shorts and a black and gray baseball cap.

The suspect in this case was not located and Detectives need your help in identifying this individual.  Anyone with information about this case should call the Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives at 886-2840.
