Offense: Burglary of a Habitation (PC 30.02 Second Degree Felony)
Case Number: 1408130095
Corpus Christi Police received a call from an 88 year old male victim in the 4300 block of Carlton Street about a suspect who had kicked in the back door of his home. The victim told officers he was inside the house when he heard somebody banging on the back door. He then retrieved his handgun, and his wife exited the house through the front door. The male suspect broke the door and walked inside and saw the armed homeowner and took off running. The suspect exited that house and ran into another house next door. The 30 year old homeowner there said that he and his four children were inside his home and that the suspect forced his way into the residence through the front door and then ran into a back bedroom and locked himself inside. The home owner said that he had locked his children in a second bedroom in the house. Officers had to use force to open the bedroom door and inside they found the male suspect trying to hide beside the bed in the room. Officers arrested Robert Rodriguez (03/14/1987) and he was charged with two counts of burglary of a habitation, a second degree felony for breaking into the two homes. The suspect also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The four children found in the second bedroom were not injured.
