CCPD Special Victims Unit Detectives Arrest Woman for Injury to a Child; Investigators Seek Additional Information
Detectives with the CCPD Special Victims Unit are seeking the public’s assistance following the arrest of a Corpus Christi woman suspected of Injury to a Child.
On October 28, 2026, the mother of an 8-month-old infant suffering from serious injuries brought the child to Driscoll Children’s Hospital Emergency Room. Emergency personnel considered the child’s injuries as suspicious and contacted CCPD. A subsequent investigation by SVU Detectives revealed the infant had sustained multiple injuries, including several fractures, bruising, and other physical trauma. Detectives determined the injuries occurred while the infant had been in the care of a childcare provider, Terrie Salazar, age 44. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Salazar charging her with Injury to a Child, a first-degree felony. Salazar was arrested and booked into the City Detention Center.
During the investigation, Detectives developed information indicating that Salazar had a history of operating unauthorized home daycare facilities.
The Corpus Christi Police Department is concerned that there may be other children who were previously placed in Salazar’s care and who may have experienced abuse or neglect.
The Department is urging parents and guardians who have previously entrusted their children to Salazar’s care to come forward if they have concerns about their child’s treatment or believe their child may have been a victim of abuse.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation, or anyone who believes a child may have been harmed while in Salazar’s care, is encouraged to contact:
Corpus Christi Police Department Criminal Investigation Division 361-886-2840
