Spring Break Patrol Report – Saturday March 8

Beach Patrol Officers reported light traffic for the day and shut down the Beach Operations around 10:00 p.m.

Activities include: 

At 2:39 p.m., Units were flagged down near Beach Marker 216 by parents regarding a man who was in the ladies restroom making inappropriate gestures and comments to young females. Several witnesses came forward and spoke to the Officers. The Officers were able to locate and arrest Gary Bovee (10/11/1943) for “Disorderly Conduct”

At 7:15 p.m., Officers contacted Andrew Saenz (1/12/1990) near Beach Marker 198 during a traffic stop. He was arrested for a Warrant for Arrest. During the arrest Officers located marijuana on Saenz. He was additionally charged.

Offense: Criminal Mischief (Penal Code Section 28.03) Class B Misdemeanor

Case Number: 1402260029

Corpus Christi Police arrested 23-year-old Nathan Ogden (7/17/1990) at an apartment complex located at 1010 Behmann Street for criminal mischief Wednesday morning. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint from a 59-year-old man who said that an unknown person forced his way into the apartment at 7:20am. The 59-year-old man told Officers he heard a person bang on the front door and attempted to enter, then broke the window and climbed inside the apartment. The 59-year-old man told Officers he pushed the man back out the window and called for help. The 59-year-old man pointed out the man who broke the window and Officers arrested Ogden for criminal mischief and public intoxication. Officers learned Ogden resides in the same apartment complex, but tried to enter the wrong apartment by mistake. Officers delivered Ogden to the city detention center.

Offense: Abandoning/Endangering a Child by Criminal Negligence (Penal Code Section 22.041) State Jail Felony

Corpus Christi Police arrested 21-year-old Tene Cloud (7/6/1992) at a store located at 6101 Saratoga Boulevard Wednesday for child abandonment. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint from a 21-year-old man at about 12:30pm for a person in violation of a criminal trespass warning. The 21-year-old man told Officers a woman who was banned from the property arrived in a vehicle that he pointed out to Officers. One Officer noticed a 5-year-old girl unattended in the vehicle. The Officer noted the outside temperature was 46 degrees with light rain and the child was insufficiently protected from the weather. The Officer brought the child to the store away from the elements. Another Officer went inside the store and found Tene Cloud, the person in violation of the criminal trespass warning. Officers learned Cloud is not the mother to the child, but was charged to care for the child. Officers arrested Cloud for child abandonment. Officers delivered the child to another family member for care. Officers impounded the vehicle, and then delivered Cloud to the city detention center.

Suspects Sought in Home Invasion

Police were called to the Candlewood Apartments for a home invasion.  Officers contacted a 24-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman who reported three to four men wearing masks kicked in the door and robbed them.  The male resident was assaulted and the money in his wallet taken.  The woman was ordered to lay face down on the bed while they ransacked the apartment.   Shortly thereafter, the suspects fled taking electronic equipment, money, and cell phones.

The duo was ordered to stay inside the bathroom and not to come out.  The woman was uninjured, but the young man sustained minor injuries to his face.  He declined any medical attention.

The suspects are described as three Black males, standing 6′ to 6’5″ feet tall and weighing 200 lbs.  Anyone with any information on this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-TIPS or submit a tip online at www.888TIPS.com.  Callers will earn a cash reward if the suspects are identified and arrested.

RubenRGarciaOfficers worked a minor accident in which green Isuzu Rodeo was found facing the wrong direction of travel.  A witness told Police that the driver Ruben R. Garcia (08/23/51) was tailgating another vehicle when the driver tapped on the brakes to warn him that he was following too close.  Garcia swerved and lost control of the Rodeo striking the barrier.  Neither Garcia nor his 43-year-old female passenger was injured.

Garcia was found to be intoxicated and administered Standard Field Sobriety Tests and a Blood Specimen taken.  He was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated~2nd or more which is a Class “A” Misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.  He was also cited for Failing to Maintain Financial Responsibility, No Driver’s License, and Following Too Closely.

MaeganParadaPolice pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation and Officers could smell the odor of marijuana wafting towards him as she rolled down the driver’s side window.  The in-car camera captured Maegan Kae Parada (04/18/90) concealing a plastic baggie containing marijuana in her pants.  Parada was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana.  The driver was cited and released.

ImynLoveJuarezCorpus Christi Police contacted two bicyclists who were riding in the roadway.  Neither bicycle had a light to front or reflectors on back.

Imyn Love Juarez (03/16/95) was found to be wanted and placed under arrest.  She was charged with two outstanding Nueces County warrants for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Motion to Revoke Probation on a Theft charge.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives are asking the public’s assistance to identify the individual who can be seen arriving in a dark-colored vehicle and entering a local gentleman’s club.  The man befriends a 21-year-old man who is possession of several thousands of dollars.  The man invites the victim to another local gentleman’s club, but stop by a local apartment complex at the man’s request.  Once at the complex, the victim is assaulted and robbed.  Police Detectives would like to identify and speak to the man in the video.

Video surveillance clips of the man have been uploaded to the police department’s CorpusChristiPD YouTube account at http://youtu.be/2hsdZxIyvF4. He was last seen wearing a baseball cap, a colored jacket, and dark-colored pants.

Elderly Woman Injured During Purse Snatching

Corpus Christi Police are asking the public’s assistance to help identify the individual involved in the robbery of a 70-year-old woman.    The victim told Officers she was walking through the Wal-Mart parking lot when the driver of a black Honda Civic drove by and grabbed her purse.

Surveillance video shows the suspect vehicle and the driver snatching the woman’s purse.  The vehicle can be seen headed northbound on Flour Bluff Drive.  Clips of the surveillance video have been uploaded to the CorpusChristiPD YouTube account at http://youtu.be/s7A3AGwLaX0.

The woman sustained minor injuries, but refused medical treatment.

Town Hall Meeting Scheduled for Saturday

The Corpus Christi Police Department will hold a Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, January 18th at the Seashore Middle Academy located at 15437 S. Padre Island Drive. The event will begin at 3:00 p.m.

Detectives with the Child Crimes Unit will be on hand to discuss the recent Attempted Kidnapping along with sharing information on how to keep your children safe.

A 44-year-old woman reported an attempted kidnapping on the 13700 block of Hawksnest Bay to Corpus Christi Police Wednesday. The 44-year-old woman told Officers her 13-year-old son explained to her that a man in a truck approached him while he walked home at 5:20pm. The 44-year-old woman told Officers her son said the man demanded the boy get into the truck. The 44-year-old woman told Officers her son ran home to call police and the vehicle went east on Hawksnest Bay toward Gypsy. The 13-year-old boy described the truck to Officers as a gray Ford F-150 with a rounded front end and a red square shaped decal on the upper driver’s side rear window and then described the man as about 40 years of age with a mustache and medium brown skin.

Police Seize Weapons from Brambling Circle

On January 9, 2014 around 10:00am, the Corpus Christi Police Department SWAT team served an arrest warrant on the 900 Blk of Brambling Circle. David McDonald (4/23/1964) was arrested for Aggravated Assault.  McDonald was transported to the city detention center.

Update from 1/13/2014:

A total of 15 firearms were seized. 6 pistols, 6 rifles, 3 shotguns.  At this time no further details regarding the make, model or caliber of the seized firearms will be released.

Mustang Crashes Into School Bus

Corpus Christi Police responded to a major vehicle crash which involved a school bus Friday morning at the intersection of Alameda Street and Airline Road. Witnesses told Crash Investigators that a black Ford Mustang traveled south on Airline at a high rate of speed, went through the red light, and struck a school bus in the intersection. Witnesses told Officers the school bus had the green light to turn left from Alameda to travel south on Airline when the bus was hit. The 63-year-old woman school bus driver for the Corpus Christi Independent School District was not injured in the crash. The man in the Mustang was taken to the hospital by ambulance. There were no other passengers in either vehicle.

Police Arrest Robbery Suspect

Corpus Christi Police arrested 20-year-old Jeremy Ybarra (8/18/1993) for a warrant for his arrest for robbery Thursday morning at his home on the 7100 block of Southhaven Drive. Corpus Christi Police Detectives investigated a robbery at the convenience store located at 7201 Rodd Field Road on January 2, 2014 at 4:35am and gathered evidence and information to determine that Ybarra was responsible. Detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of Ybarra and Officers arrested Ybarra at his home, then delivered Ybarra to the city detention center.
