Patrol Report 09/14/2015

The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to 801 calls for service and generated 174 reports for formal criminal complaints from 7:00 a.m. September 13 to 7:00 a.m. on September 14, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

A 24 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after his ex-girlfriend attacked him with a baseball bat.

The victim told Officers that his ex-girlfriend was drinking alcohol and was intoxicated while both of them were in the front yard of a home located in the 400 block of Mediterranean Drive.

The victim said that she was trying to show off in front of other friends by talking down to the victim. She also spit on him. She then went inside the home, and grabbed an aluminum bat and struck the victim on the head. The female then got in a car and left.

The victim was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS to be treated for injuries not believed to be life threatening.

Officers know the female suspects name, but she was not located.

Police Arrest Woman On Weber For Narcotics Traffic

The Corpus Christi Police Department Narcotics Vice Investigators seized 10.89 grams of crack cocaine, 6.9 grams of methamphetamine, 64 dosage units (9.51 grams) of Alprazolam, 3 dosage units (1.35 grams) of acetaminophen/hydrocodone, 21.5 dosage units (9.26 grams) of hydrocodone, and 15 dosage units (3.9 grams) of Tramadol.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 30-year-old Tawanya “Baby” Rabb (9-5-85) for a first degree felony level Manufacture/Delivery of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 and Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 after a search warrant was served at her apartment located at 5220 Weber Road Thursday afternoon. 

The Corpus Christi Police Department Narcotics Vice Investigations Division served a search and arrest warrant at 5220 Weber a little after noon today after lengthy investigation into complaints of drug dealing from the location.

The Corpus Christi Police Department Narcotics Vice Investigators seized:
10.89 grams of crack cocaine;
6.9 grams of methamphetamine;
64 dosage units (9.51 grams) of Alprazolam;
3 dosage units (1.35 grams) of acetaminophen/hydrocodone;
21.5 dosage units (9.26 grams) of hydrocodone;
and 15 dosage units (3.9 grams) of Tramadol.

The street value of the drugs was estimated to be over $1750.00.  The Corpus Christi Police Department Narcotics Vice Investigators also seized $1211.00 in cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of illegal narcotics.

Corpus Christi Police responded to an audible alarm at the Jalisco Meat Market, located in the 2700 block of South Staples Street.

When Officers arrived they observed a piece of plywood which had been pulled off a broken window to a neighboring building. The Officers knew that the plywood had been used to secure a previously broken window to a business next to the meat market.

In that burglary on September 2nd, the suspects had gained entry through the same vacant business and cut through a wall in order to gain entry to the Jalisco Meat Market.

This morning the suspects made entry again through the vacant building next door.  This time when they made entry into the meat market, the alarm sounded and suspects fled the scene without taking anything.

Officers are still looking for the suspects of the first burglary on  and the suspects from this morning’s break in.

Patrol Report 09/09/2015

An employee of the Schlotzskys Sandwich Shop, located at 4218 South Alameda Street, called Corpus Christi Police after they arrived at work and found the business had been burglarized.

The employee told Officers that entry was made into the business through the ceiling by removing roof paneling.

Once inside, the suspect ransacked the office and removed money from the safe.

It was estimated that more than $20,000 in damage was done to the business.

At this time, no suspects have been identified or arrested.

Warrant For Murder Served on Father

Corpus Christi Police Detectives obtained a murder warrant for a father accused of causing the death of his child by physically assaulting him back on September 3 in the 4900 block of High Meadow Drive.

The father, Rene Anthony Garcia (06/12/1969), physically assaulted the child by shaking the three month old boy. The child was taken to Driscoll Children’s Hospital by CCFD EMS and died on Saturday, September 5.

The father was arrested that evening on charges of injury to a child.

This morning Detectives obtained an arrest warrant on the father for murder and they served it while he was still at the Nueces County Jail on the original charge. The arrest warrant for murder has a bond amount of $350,000.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on a semi-tractor pulling a flatbed trailer with a load after the driver hit a parked vehicle in the 900 block of North Shoreline Boulevard and drove off.

The Officer was contacted by a witness who saw the 18 wheeler hit a parked Volkswagen Golf with no one inside. The driver’s side mirror was broken off, and the front driver fender of the car had damage from the crash.

The witness said the tractor trailer hit the vehicle, then parked, and the driver got out. He then returned to the truck and drove off.

Officers located the 18 wheeler traveling north on Interstate 37 near Water Street, and stopped it. The Officer contacted the driver, Billy Dickerson (07/22/1958), and after an investigation determined he was intoxicated. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated and his entire truck and trailer and its load were impounded.

A 47 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after his girlfriend tried to stab him in the stomach following a disturbance between the two in the parking lot of Bob Hall Pier on Padre Island.

The man told Officers that he got into a verbal disturbance over some missing money with his girlfriend. The disturbance escalated into a physical confrontation when the girlfriend grabbed a flat head screwdriver and tried stabbing her boyfriend with it. The man was nicked across his stomach and did not suffer any serious injury.

The man grabbed his girlfriend and tried to restrain her, but she bit him on his right thigh. The man was then able to hold her down until Officers arrived.

CCFD EMS responded and treated the victim at the scene for minor injuries.

The girlfriend, Cindy L. Patrick (10/24/1972) was arrested for aggravated assault.

Father Arrested For Injury To A Child

Corpus Christi Police responded to a home, located in the 4900 block of High Meadow Drive, for a report of a three month old baby not breathing with CPR in progress.

Officers arrived and found both parents of the little boy inside the residence. The baby was unresponsive and transported to Driscoll Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

Corpus Christi Police Family Violence Detectives responded and during an investigation it was determined that the child’s father, Rene Anthony Garcia (06/12/1969), had physically assaulted the child by shaking him.

The father was arrested on charges of injury to a child, a first degree felony.

The 25 year old mother, who was home at the time, has not been charged with a crime. There were no other children at the home.

At last report the child was on life support at the hospital and not expected to survive. If the child does die, charges against the father could be upgraded to capital murder.

Corpus Christi Police responded to the report of a shooting in the courtyard area of an apartment located at 933 McDonald Street.

When Officers arrived they determined that a 38 year old man had been shot once on the side of his abdomen by an 18 year old male suspect that he knew.

The investigation revealed that there was an ongoing dispute between the two men and the younger man had threatened the older man during a phone call earlier. The older man told him to come on over, and when the suspect showed up a short time later, he was armed with a handgun.

After a physical fight, the suspect went and got the weapon from the vehicle that he had driven over. The victim was shot one time on his right side by the man.

The offender fled the scene and was not located.

Officers did locate the weapon used in the shooting in a alley behind 709 Flour Bluff Drive.

The victim was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

Corpus Christi Police responded to an alarm at the Food Mart, located at 11001 Leopard Street, and when Officers arrived they found the front glass door had been shattered.

An employee met Officers at the store and when they went inside they found that the suspects had entered the store, and opened the cash register. Luckily employees had left the register empty, so no cash was stolen.

A hammer believed to have been used by the suspects to smash the door glass and force open the register was found inside the business.

Officers are attempting to work with the business owner to download the store video surveillance system.

At this time there is no information on the suspects, and damage to the business was estimated at $1,000.
