A 34 year old male home owner called Corpus Christi Police after another man driving a vehicle crashed into his fence and then fled on foot.

The crash investigation revealed that, Justin Briseno (09/30/1987), was driving a 2011 Chevrolet SUV east on Jacquelyn Drive and was attempting to turn onto Sam Street when he lost control and struck a wooden fence.

The home owner confronted the suspect, and he fled on foot.  The home owner chased him to the 700 block of Everhart Road, and detained him until police arrived.

Once officers arrived, they took the suspect driver into custody.  In his possession they found 33 hydrocodone pills.  He was also determined to be intoxicated on alcohol and he also had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest for parole violation for a burglary charge.

The suspect was treated at the hospital for minor injuries he suffered during the crash, and then transported to the city detention center.

The home owner estimated that the suspect did nearly $1000 in damage to his fence.

Southside Homicide Update

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a home located in the 3100 block of Alta Gigonella St. in reference to a shooting.

The investigation by homicide detectives revealed that the victim, an ex-boyfriend of a  26 year old female who lives at the home, forced his way in through the back door.  Once inside the victim began to assault a 41 year old man that was inside.  While the two men were fighting, the female went to a bedroom.   The victim chased the female and there was a struggle over a handgun.  The victim was shot one time in the chest.   He was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital and was later pronounced dead.

At this time detectives are still  investigating this crime, and no arrest have been made.  Once this investigation is concluded, the case will be presented to the district attorney for any possible criminal charges.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 3100 Alta Gigonella St. in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival officers discovered a 33 year old male victim. The victim was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital for treatment. The victim later succumbed to his wounds.

Officers detained witnesses,  CCPD Homicide Detectives arrived and began their investigation. Witnesses were transported to the main police station to be interviewed. Detectives are still in the early stages of this investigation. More information will be released as soon as it becomes available.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a bar located at 1402 Rodd Field Road for a fight.

When they arrived all of the people involved were gone but officers did find a knife with blood on it. While officers were investigating, a 22 year old male victim and his brother walked up covered in blood and they both appeared to be intoxicated. The victim had a stab wound to the middle of his back. Both brothers were yelling and cursing at officers and the medics that were on the scene to assist them.

At first, the victim refused to be treated by CCFD EMS but later he agreed if his brother was allowed to go with him. Once in the ambulance both brothers became combative again and were trying to hit the medics.

The brother, Jacob Ferstl (01/08/1991), was arrested for interfering with duties of a public servant, a Class B misdemeanor and public intoxication.

The victim was handcuffed to the stretcher for the safety of the medics and transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital.

After an investigation it was determined that both brothers were involved in a disturbance with a group of other men in the bar. The disturbance moved outside as the bar was closing and it was at that time the victim was stabbed in the back by one of the other men.

The victim refused to provide officers with any information regarding the suspect who stabbed him.

A female talking on her cell phone while she was driving led Corpus Christi Police to the arrest of a wanted felony suspect.

Officers on patrol observed a blue Mitsubishi Outlander in the 1500 block of Rodd Field Road being operated by a female driver who was holding a cell phone in her left hand up against her ear.

Once officers stopped the SUV, they found a passenger inside, Brandon Butts (02/08/1990), who had an outstanding felony arrest warrant for a parole violation for an original charge of burglary.

The male was arrested, and the warrant issued on 09/29/2014 had no bond.

The female driver was given a citation for operating a motor vehicle while using a wireless telecommunication device.

Cash Store Bandit

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released video surveillance that shows an aggravated robbery at a business located at 4117 S. Staples Street, The Cash Store.

Employees said a male came in and placed his hand on his waist and acted as though he had a gun in his waistband. The suspect demanded money but no weapon was displayed.

The video shows a male wearing a red and black jacket, blue jeans, and black and white tennis shoes at the counter. The suspect takes cash and leaves walking out of the front door and he was not located.

Detectives now need your help in identifying this individual.  Anyone with information about this case should call the Corpus Christi Police Robbery and Homicide Detectives at 886-2840. Corpus Christi Police responded to a call about a theft that had occurred at the Dillards Store located at La Palmera Mall.

Officers arrived and were told by store employees that they saw a male suspect make several selections of shirts and blue jeans from the shelves and then walk into the fitting room. When the suspect entered the fitting room, he had a shopping bag with him containing two large shoe boxes.   When he exited he still had the bag of boxes, but not the clothing he had walked in with.

The suspect was stopped outside the store and over $1300 worth of stolen clothing was found in the boxes inside the shopping bag.

Matthew Pena (10/27/1993) was arrested for a Class A misdemeanor theft charge since the items were valued at over $500.

A 27 year old store clerk called Corpus Christi Police after a man armed with a knife came in and robbed the business located at 5626 Leopard St.

The employee told officers that a tall, slender, young black male wearing a black ski mask entered the store holding a folding knife in his right hand.  The suspect threatened the employee with the knife and told him to open the cash register and give him the money.  The suspect got some cash from the register and then exited the store through front doors.

The suspect was last seen wearing a white long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

Officers are working with the store manager in an attempt to get a copy of the store video surveillance system.

At this time no suspect has been arrested.

Patrol Report January 4, 2015

Corpus Christi Police responded to a vehicle crash with a Nueces County Constable Patrol car on the 10200 block of State Highway 361 Sunday morning.

Corpus Christi Police learned that a white 2007 Ford Sport Utility Vehicle struck the back of a 2011 Chevy Impala marked patrol car for the Nueces County Constable’s Office on the shoulder of the roadway. The 56-year-old operator of the Sport Utility vehicle was arrested by the Port Aransas Police Department. The 43-year-old Deputy Constable was taken to the hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. The crash was reported by the Corpus Christi Police Department.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 34-year-old Eric Javier Garza (9/4/1980) at the 3100 block of Elderberry for burglary of a habitation, evading arrest, and criminal trespass Saturday night.

An 18 year old woman reported a burglary to a habitation on the 3000 block of Hilldale at 10:30pm Saturday night. The 18-year-old woman told Officers she was at a home on Hilldale with a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl when they saw a strange man open the back sliding glass door to the home and come inside. The 18-year-old woman told Officers the unknown man ran out the door when the girls screamed. The 18-year-old woman described the man to the Officers by tattoos and clothing description and the Officers knew the identity of the man because of numerous complaints in the area about the man. The Officers went to the Garza’s parents home nearby and found Garza. Garza has a criminal trespass warning which prohibits him from the home and Officers arrested Garza for burglary, evading arrest, and for the criminal trespassing. Officers then delivered Garza to the city detention center.

A 39-year-old man increased his criminal charges after he bit a Corpus Christi Police Officer and a Corpus Christi City Detention Center employee at the City Detention Center when they attempted to obtain a specimen of his blood Sunday morning.
Corpus Christi Police arrested 39-year-old Joe Sanchez (6/13/1975) at 10:26pm on the 3000 block of Staples Street for Driving While Intoxicated, then obtained a warrant to seize a specimen of blood from Sanchez. The phlebotomist was available at the City Detention Center, so at about 2:00am, the process began to serve the warrant and seize a specimen of blood from Sanchez. Officers said Sanchez resisted, then bit a Police Officer on the hand causing the injury to bleed and then Officers said a Detention Center employee was also bit on the hand causing the injury to bleed.
Officers did obtain a specimen of blood and the two injured men received treatment for their injuries.Officers then applied additional charges to Sanchez.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 38-year-old Jose Martinez (11/2/1976) for Driving While Intoxicated at the intersection of Gollihar and Kostoryz Saturday night. Officers observed Martinez operate a blue 2014 Ford Fusion in the wrong direction at about 1 mile per hour. Officers stopped Martinez and found him with a pipe and a substance the Officers believe is synthetic marijuana. Officers arrested Martinez, impounded the car, and obtained a specimen of blood from Martinez. Martinez was then delivered to the city detention center for Driving While Intoxicated.

A 21-year-old man reported an abandoned child at a restaurant located at 2141 South Port Avenue to Corpus Christi Police Thursday night.
The 21-year-old man told Officers he found a 2-year-old boy in the restaurant by himself crying and with soiled pants at about 9:00 pm. The child was not injured, but frightened. The 21-year-old man told Officers he was unable to locate the parents of the child and requested law enforcement assistance. Officers requested services from the Child Protective Services. The 39-year-old mother of the child arrived at the restaurant at 11pm. The 39-year-old woman was interviewed and then left with the child.

A 56-year-old woman reported a counterfeit bill passed at a store located at 3238 Buddy Lawrence Drive to Corpus Christi Police Thursday night.
The 56-year-old woman told Officers she is employed as a clerk at the store and was approached at about 11:30pm by a woman who attempted to pay for merchandise with a fake ten dollar bill. The 56-year-old woman told Officers she immediately knew the bill was obviously not real, and confronted the woman about the counterfeit bill. The 56-year-old woman told Officers the woman left the store and left in a late model white Ford Taurus. The Officers collected the bill as evidence and continue to investigate this case.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 19-year-old Manuel Perez (9/11/1995) for attempting to pay for merchandise at a convenience store with fake twenty dollar bills Thursday night.
A 55-year-old woman called Corpus Christi Police at 8:45pm to complain that a man attempted to pay for merchandise at the store located at 701 North Staples with a fake twenty dollar bill and left in a black Dodge Nitro. Corpus Christi Police found the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at the 600 block of Sam Rankin and contacted Perez to investigate the complaint.
Officers collected information and evidence in this case, then arrested Perez for Forgery of a Government Instrument, a 3rd degree felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. Officers delivered Perez to the city detention center.
