Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 600 Texan Trail in reference a disturbance with a weapon. The call stated that the complainant was going to wait for them at the Whataburger at the corner of Texan Trail and Alameda. Officers arrived and could not locate the complainant. Dispatchers could not contact the complainant by phone so the officers quickly went to the address at 600 Texan Trail. Officers arrived but got no answer and observed a broken window. Officers went to the back of the apartment and located the 41 year old male suspect and the 34 year old female victim who was crying hysterically.

Officers separated the two and spoke to the victim. The victim advised that the suspect had been staying with her for about a week. She stated that when she asked him to leave he refused. She advised that the suspect held her down against her will on the bedroom floor. He would not let her leave and covered her mouth to prevent her from screaming. The victim advised she managed to get up and broke the bedroom window so she could be heard as she cried for help. The suspect again covered her mouth and also took out a knife and threatened to stab her and told her he wasn’t leaving. The victim feared for her safety and believed that the suspect was going to stab her. Officers arrested Robert Alvarado (01-21-1976) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the area of Mussett and Lotus in reference to a stabbing. Upon arrival officers were given a description of a suspect carrying a couple bags and wearing a white shirt. Officers checked the area and located the suspect and detained him. The 36 year old male suspect was found to have a rusted razor blade in his back pocket.

The 20 year old victim had been transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital for treatment. Officers contacted her at the hospital. The victim stated that she was in her car and observed a male walking in the parking lot and looking into cars. The victim called police, leaned her seat back and watched the suspect while she was on the phone with dispatchers. The victim stated that the suspect came up to her car and attempted to open her door. The victim began to honk her and her brother came out to assist her. The victim stated that they were attempting to keep the suspect from leaving until police arrived. The victim stated that the suspect reached into his pocket and came at her in a stabbing motion. The victim was unable to get away and was stabbed several times to her back and torso.

The victim was treated and released from the hospital. Officers arrested Armando Davila Jr. (09-02-1980) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Updated Images and Video of Attempted Kidnapping Suspect

On 03/02/17, just after 6:00 a.m. a 56-year-old female was walking North in the 900 Blk of Carmel Pkwy when a tall black male wearing green attempted to force the victim into his car.  Fortunately, the victim was able to get away.  The suspect fled west on Ft. Worth street in a Black vehicle with Chrome Rims.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer was patrolling in the area of Agnes and Virginia. The officer observed a green truck run the stop sign at Virginia and Agnes going Northbound. The officer stopped and contacted the driver. As the officer contacted the driver he immediately opened the door and put his foot out. The driver was extremely nervous, sweating and stuttering as he spoke. The driver had no ID and the plate of the Dodge pick up returned to a Green Honda. The suspect was detained and the officer ran the VIN and discovered that the truck had been stolen from Corpus Christi on March 17th. Officers arrested Carlos Lopez Jr. (12-12-1980) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 900 Behmann in reference to an assault in progress. Officers arrived and made contact with the 34 year old female victim. She advised that she got into an argument with her 32 year old boyfriend. She advised that at some point during the argument the suspect punched her in the face, pushed her into a window causing it to break and he threw her to the ground hitting her in the face and then he choked her. The victim advised that she blacked out for a moment. The victim had bruising on her arm and redness to her neck. Officers contacted the suspect who appeared intoxicated and acted as if nothing had happened. Officers arrested Michael Jameson (05-06-1984)  and a search incident to arrest revealed that the suspect had several pills in a plastic baggie in his sunglasses case. The suspect was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance and transported to the City Detention Center.

Offense: Intoxication Assault with a Vehicle

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 6600 Mountain Wood Dr. in reference to a female that might have been run over by a vehicle.  While officers were en route the call was updated that the vehicle was possible a red Toyota Tundra. Officers arrived and located the 42 year old female victim. She had severe facial injuries and was not wearing pants. The victim was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries. A witness stated that she heard a female scream “Open the door! Open the Door!” She also advised that she saw the red pick up leave the scene at a high rate of speed and return a short time later. The vehicle parked down the street with its lights shinning on the victim and the left the area again.

Responding officers located the vehicle in a parking lot in 6600 block of S. Staples. Officers contacted the 53 year old male who was the only occupant of the vehicle. The suspect had an odor of an intoxicating beverage. Officers had enough probable cause to arrest for DWI. Inside the vehicle officers located a pair of women’s jeans and a pink handbag that contained identification for the female victim. Officers also observed fresh blood and what they believed to be tissue on the left rear tire and wheel well. Officers arrested Roy Roberts (01-28-1964) and transported him to the City Detention Center. There is no update on the victims condition at this time. Officers are still investigating what led up to this incident.

Corpus Christi Police would like help from the public to locate a fugitive who has an active warrant for his arrest.  Law Enforcement Officers are searching for 21-year-old Estevan Resendez  (03/11/96) for unlawful carrying of a weapon in prohibited places – No Bond.  Resendez is described as a 21-year-old man who stands 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds, has short black hair, brown eyes, and a mustache with a goatee.   Resendez has several tattoos including “In God We Trust” and “Resendez” on his back  and several tattoos on his chest.   Resendez031196

The security camera caught the suspect crawling behind the cosmetic counter and cutting a cord that held a magnetic key used to unlock security cases. The suspect then exits the store and ran from the location.

Corpus Christ Police Officers responded to Holt Cat on the 1300 block of SPID in reference to a burglary. The complainant advised that when employees came into work on Monday they noticed that 4 new Caterpillar generators were missing. The complainant advised that this happened over the weekend.  The video shows a dark pickup driving into the business and a male suspect opening the gate. At least 2 suspects were involved in this crime. The pickup might have slight damage on the front bumper/grill from hitting the gate as it was leaving the business.

Police Release Sketch of Attempted Abduction Suspect

Corpus Christi Police Detectives released a sketch of the suspect involved in the recent attempted abduction. The suspect is described as a large male between 6′ 1″ to 6′ 4″ tall, weighing between 230-270 pounds. The suspect was wearing a green shirt with an emblem on it and matching green shorts. He is believed to be in his early to mid 30’s and is driving a dark 4-door vehicle with black leather interior.

Corpus Christi Police Department announce Spring Break Plans

The City of Corpus Christi wants everyone visiting our sparkling City during Spring Break 2017 to enjoy a safe and relaxing vacation. The police department, fire department and parks and recreation departments along with state and local partners have been conducting planning sessions and making preparations to accomplish that goal.  Spring break beach patrols begin on Friday March 10 and continue through Sunday March 19th.  Contingencies are in place for additional officers to respond to the beach if needed.

Traffic officers will be out on the roadways ensuring the safety of those traveling to our beaches and monitoring lights on the island to assist with traffic flow.

On peak days, beach goers will be directed to enter the beach at Newport Pass and exit on Zahn Road. Traffic officers will control traffic with a portable traffic control signal at Zahn Road and SH 361.

Access Rd. 3 will remain open, but that portion of the beach is state owned and will remain natural. 4-wheel drive is recommended for area of the beach from Access Rd. 3 to Newport Pass.

Beach goers are encouraged to leave early and expect delays due to heavy traffic on the Island. The CCPD’s Public Information Office will provide traffic and beach updates on reverse alert. While the City of Corpus Christi encourages everyone to have a good time and enjoy the beach, officers will be on the lookout for alcohol related crimes such as DWI, public intoxication, and underage drinking. In line with these efforts, Corpus Christi Crime Stoppers wants everyone to help reduce teen drinking. Anyone who calls Crime Stoppers at 888-TIPS to report minors drinking alcohol will be rewarded with $250 cash for each enforcement action event and Crime Stoppers guarantees to keep the callers identity a secret.

Beach goers are reminded that the following are prohibited on the beach by city ordinance:

No Glass Containers
No littering
No dogs on the beach from Newport Pass to Bob Hall Pier from 11 am to 8 pm.
No operation of any motorized vehicles in the dunes 10-72(a)

Fires:
Campfire means a fire contained in a barbecue pit constructed and maintained by the city, or in a portable barbecue pit, or an open fire in a fire pit or on the ground, and is not larger than three (3) feet in any dimension.

No person may build, operate, or use a fire on any beach along the Gulf of Mexico unless in accordance with the provisions of this section.

A person may build, operate, or use a campfire on a beach along the Gulf of Mexico, if: the campfire is at least fifty (50) feet from any permanent structure, at least seventy-five (75) feet from any vegetation line or dune, and at least twenty-five (25) feet from any vehicle with combustible fuel; and the prevailing wind will not blow embers into or beyond the dunes. Any wind coming from between the easterly and southerly direction that exceeds twenty (20) miles per hour as reported by the National Weather Service at the Corpus Christi Airport is considered capable of blowing embers into and beyond the dunes.

Again the Corpus Christi Police Department wants everyone to have a safe and fun Spring Break.

NARCOTICS/VICE OFFICERS DISRUPT GAMBLING OPERATION ON SOUTH SIDE

CCPD Narcotics/Vice Investigators shut down a significant gambling operation on Corpus Christi’s south side Wednesday evening. At approximately 9:00 pm, March 8, 2017, NVID Investigators served an evidentiary search warrant at a residence in the 5400 block of Sugar Creek Drive.  The search warrant was the culmination of an extensive long term investigation into illegal gambling at the residence involving “eight liner” slot machines.

Gambling Operation

During the course of the investigation, investigators gathered evidence that indicated that the operator and employees of the operation were paying out sizeable cash rewards to customers who played the machines, in violation of Texas gambling statutes.   Although the operator had taken significant precautions to disguise the illegal operation, which was being run from a home in a quiet residential neighborhood, NVID investigators were able to obtain enough evidence to obtain the evidentiary search warrant; the search warrant allowed investigators to search for and seize gambling equipment, ledgers, cash and other proceeds of illegal gambling activity.  Inside the residence, officers discovered and seized over 31 of the machines, along with over $5000 in cash. Sang Kim (6-6-75) was arrested and charged with Keeping a Gambling Place and Engaging in Organized Crime. Diana S. Griffith (11-2-70) was arrested and charged with Keeping a Gambling Place. The investigation is still ongoing.
