Patrol Report August 7, 2017

Location: Dillon Ln. and Gollihar Rd.
Offense: Injury to an elderly, Public Intoxication

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to Gollihar and Dillon in reference to a crash with injuries. The call was updated that a male involved in the accident was fighting with another subject. Officers arrived and contacted the 66 year old male victim and his wife. The victim advised that he was driving and observed the vehicle in the middle of the road and a female on the side of the road. The victim stopped and asked the female if she needed help at same time the victims wife was contacting the police. The female yelled stating they did not need help and they better not be calling the police. The female observed the victims wife on the phone. She walked over and took the phone from the victims wife and began walking away. The victim went to the female placing his hands on her shoulders and asked for the phone back. The suspect, who was sitting in a vehicle involved in the crash, observed the victim contacting the female. The suspect exited the vehicle and punched the victim in the face twice with a closed fist. The victim had a bloody swollen nose and was in pain. Officers contacted the suspect and observed signs of intoxication. Officers arrested Shawn Villarreal (02/09/1991) for PI and Injury to elderly and transported to the City Detention Center.

Offense: Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon

Corpus Christ Police Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Buford Ave. in reference to a disturbance with a gun. Officers arrived and made contact with the 35 year old male victim. He advised that he stepped outside his apartment to go to work. He and the 27 year old female suspect began arguing. At some point the suspect pulled a gun and pointed it at him. The victim stated that he thought the suspect was going to shoot him and he feared for his life. Officers contacted the suspect and observed a black semi-automatic pistol in plain view in her purse. Officers arrested Sabrina Carnley (01/24/1990) and transported her to the City Detention Center.

Offense: Assault, Criminal Trespass

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 1800 Roslyn in reference to a disturbance with injuries. Upon arrival officers contacted the 48 year old female victim who was being treated by medics for her injuries. The victim advised that she got into an argument with the 22 year old male suspect about cleaning the room. The suspect got angry and threw a TV on the ground and then shoved the victim to the ground. The victim hit her head and legs on the ground causing her pain. Officers contacted a 26 year old female witness and she saw the suspect push her mother. The witness stated that the suspect then picked the victim up and threw her on the floor in the hallway. Officers arrested Elliott McCoy (06/26/1995) for assault and also found he had a criminal trespass warning for that residence. He was also charged with criminal trespass and transported to the City Detention Center.

Arrest Made In Pier 99 Aggravated Robbery Case

42 year old Robert Johnnie Garcia was arrested on Thursday 08/03/2017 at about 1:30 in the afternoon.  He was arrested by the The United States Marshal’s Fugitive and Violent Offenders Task Force in Ingleside, Texas.

He has been booked into the Nueces County Jail on a Warrant for the Aggravated Robbery that occurred at a Corpus Christi’s North Beach restaurant last Sunday night. He was also booked on a Parole Violation Warrant.

HELP IDENTIFY THIS BURGLARY SUSPECT

Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives would like help from the public to identify and locate a man who Detectives believe was involved in a Burglary of a Barber School.

The owner of the Barber Shop detailed that an unknown man forcefully entered their business and stole a flat screen TV, Computer and Zip-Drive totaling over $3,000, without the owners consent.

Detectives gathered images of the man from surveillance video.

The suspect is described as an adult male, early to mid 20’s, wearing a white t-shirt, long shorts, black socks and white tennis shoes.  The suspect was observed to have tattoos on both forearms.

Stealth Car Is Coming For Traffic Safety

What you need to know about your CCPD’s upcoming “Stealth Car” traffic safety effort:

  • Stealth Car has numerous red and blue flashing lights but does not have a light bar on the roof.
  • Stealth Car does not display POLICE decals or markings on the body of the car.
  • Stealth Car will be deployed only during daytime/daylight hours.
  • Stealth Car is operated by an Officer wearing a complete CCPD Police Uniform.
  • Stealth Car will spend time on city roadways that have documented high incidences of speed and distracted driving related crashes and fatalities.
  • Stealth Car Officer can tell when a violator continues to travel in an effort to find a safe location for the Officer to make contact. We appreciate a safe location for the stop.

 

 

Warrant issued in Pier 99 Aggravated Robbery

The Corpus Christi Police Department Robbery Bureau obtained a warrant for Roberto Johnnie Garcia 11/30/1974 for Agg Robbery, Bond $100,000 in connection with the Pier 99 robbery. He also has a active Parole Warrant for Carrying Prohibited Weapon. He is approximately 5′ 11″ tall, weighs 200 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes.

Police need your help identifying this suspected burglar

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help identifying this suspected burglar. The complainant advised officers that someone had burglarized her house. The front door was kicked in and the house was ransacked. Witnesses advised that they saw a dark colored vehicle and a thin male exit the vehicle. The video shows a male exiting the vehicle and returning a few minutes later carrying a bag. He gets into the vehicle and drives away.

City Hosts Vehicle Auction This Saturday

The City of Corpus Christi will auction 124 cars, trucks, and motorcycles at the Police Vehicle Impound Lot, located at 5485 Greenwood Drive, on Saturday, August 5, 2017.  The auction will start at 10:00 a.m.

The general public is encouraged to register and view the vehicles for auction from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Friday, August 4, 2017. The general public can continue to view the vehicles from 8:00 am to 10:00 am on the day of the auction.

The vehicles for auction may be viewed online and an auction list may be downloaded from www.amtauctions.com.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT SUSPECT ARRESTED

Offense: Aggravated Assault W/Deadly Weapon

On July 21, 2017 Officers responded to the 1400 block of Devon, reference a shots fired call, which was upgraded to a shooting with injuries.  Upon arrival, Officers located a 47-year-old male with a gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to the hospital with critical injuries and remains hospitalized today.

On July 22, 2017 at approximately 8:05 p.m. Officers effected a traffic stop near the intersection of 19th Street and Mussett Street, which resulted in an arrest of Guzman, Jonathan (08/02/1986).   Guzman was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon, Possession of Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 2-A and Possession/Delivery of Drug Paraphernalia.  Through ballistic testing, it was discovered that the weapon being possessed by Guzman during the traffic stop was the same weapon used in the shooting on Devon.

A warrant was subsequently issued for Jonathan Guzman for the charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.  Guzman remains in the Nueces County Jail and is being held on a $250,000 bond.

Police Detectives need help Identifying this Theft Suspect

Police Detective need your help identifying this theft suspect. The suspect is seen entering the Cash America Pawn Shop. The video shows the suspect take two laptops off the shelf and exit the store. The suspect is approximately 6′ tall weighing about 175 pounds. He was wearing a blue polo shirt, blue jean shorts, tennis shoes and white sunglasses. The suspect exits the business and gets into a blue pickup truck (possibly a Chevy Colorado) and drives away.

Offense: Assault Family Violence (choking), Unlawful Restraint, Interference with an Emergency Call

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 2000 Treyway Ln. in reference to an assault in progress. Upon arrival officers heard yelling from the residence and heard a male say “you are doing things that are going make me kill you.” As officers reached the residence a male exited and was detained by the officers. Officers contacted the 55 year old female victim who was crying and visibly upset. She told officers that the suspect punched her in the head twice. The victim told officers that she and the suspect (her husband) went out to celebrate his birthday and came home early because they were arguing. The two began discussing their relationship which angered the suspect. The suspect hit the victim in the head causing her to fall. The victim stated that she tried to call police but the suspect took her phone and threw it. The victim stated that she tried to run out of the residence to call police but the suspect blocked the exit, grabbed her by the throat and began to choke her. The residence was in disarray and it appeared there was a struggle. The victim feared for her safety. Officers arrested Errol Morgan (07/31/1964) and transported him to the City Detention Center. The victim was treated at the scene by CCFD medics.

Offense: DWI, Warrant of Arrest, Failure to Notify/Report a Crash

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 7900 Fox Dr. for a traffic crash with injuries. Officers arrived and contacted the parties involved. Officers were advised that the driver of a Ford F-150 fled the scene. Officers spoke to witnesses and were able to identify the driver. Officers went to the 6900 block of Round Table and made contact with the 32 year old male suspect. Officers were able to verify that the suspect was the driver of the vehicle. They also noticed signs of intoxication and had enough probable cause to arrest Dominic Franco (04/20/1985)for DWI and Failing to report the crash. Officers also found that Dominic had a municipal court warrant. Officers transported Dominic to the City Detention Center.

Offense: Aggravated Assault, Resisting Arrest

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the 2900 block of Sunrise Ave. in reference to a stabbing. Officers arrived and initially did dot find a victim. Officers were then flagged down by the 36 year old male victim and a female witness. The officers were directed to the suspects apartment. The victim advised officers that the suspect and the witness were in a disturbance. When the female screamed the victim came out to separate them and was then stabbed in the right shoulder by the suspect. The suspect fled and ran inside his apartment. Officers went and made contact with the suspect. The suspect answered the doors and became angry when he was questioned about the stabbing. The suspect tried to go back inside his apartment as officers attempted to detain him. The suspect pulled away from officers and began struggled with them. The suspect was quickly arrested. Officers arrested Christian Cole Pena (09/09/1993). Officers also located the suspected weapon at the scene. Christian was checked at the scene by medics and transported to the City Detention Center.
