Bank Robbery Suspects On The Loose (Video)

Officers responded to the Charter Bank for a bank robbery involving two suspects.  Upon their arrival, Officers contacted bank personnel who reported a Hispanic male accompanied by a Hispanic female passed one of the tellers a note demanding money.  The note stated the male was armed with a firearm.

The teller complied with the demands and the suspects fled on foot southbound towards Leopard Street taking with them an undetermined amount of money.

The first suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 30 to 35 years of age, 5’5″ to 5’8″ feet tall, and weighing 180 lbs.  He was last seen wearing a red shirt with a bear logo on it.  No weapon was seen

The second suspect is described as a curly-haired Hispanic female, 35 to 40 years of age, 5’2″ to 5’5″ feet tall, and weighing 130 lbs.  She was last seen wearing a hooded turquoise jacket and blue jeans.

Theft

Detectives with the Property Crimes Unit are asking for your help in identifying the individual responsible for the theft of a purse of a Salvation Army Bell Ringer at 6101 Saratoga.

On Friday Nov. 25 shortly before 6 p.m. the victim, a Salvation Army Bell Ringer, placed her purse on a game machine just inside the front door of the business she was volunteering at. When she returned back to area she noticed that her purse was missing. She then contacted the store manager who was able to provide the police with a great camera shot of the incident.

The suspect is described as a white female possibly in her 50’s, 5’4″ to 5’6″ in height 180 to 220 lbs. grey or white hair and glasses. At he time of the theft she was wearing a green shirt which had printed on it “Ski naked it adds color to your cheeks” and blue jeans. She was last seen getting into a Grey or Beige Chevy Suburban.

“Not So” Candid Camera

Detectives in the Property Crimes Unit need your help identifying the individual responsible for a theft of a security camera.

Police were called to the office of Vaughan & Vaughan Orthodontics reference a stolen security camera. When they arrived they were given pictures of the suspect taken from the very same camera he had stolen.

The individual is described as a Hispanic male 25 – 35 years of age, 5’7″ to 5’10” in height. At the time of the theft he was wearing a black ball cap, and a black shirt. He left the area on a bicycle.

Credit Card Abuse Suspect – New Video

UPDATE: Detectives with the Auto Theft Task Force have obtained additional video of the suspect.

Detectives with the Auto Theft Task Force need your help in identifying the individual who broke into a vehicle and stole and used the victim’s credit card. He used the credit card at two locations on the Southside of town.

The individual is described as a Hispanic male wearing a yellow striped shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. He is seen getting into a blue four door passenger vehicle.

Investigators in the Property Crimes Unit need your help in identifying the individual who stole two car stereos from the Wal-Mart located at 1250 Flour Bluff Dr.

On Monday November the 14, the unidentified individual walked out of Wal-Mart without paying for the two car stereos. As you can see in the short clip, the individual is described as a hispanic male 5′ 8″ to 5′ 11″ in height, 170 – 200 lbs. At the time of the theft he was wearing a white jacket,  a red and white striped pull-over shirt, dark-colored shorts, white socks over his calves and white tennis shoes. He had a short hair cut and a small goatee.

Citizen Alert on Online Bank Phishing Scams

The Corpus Christi Police Department has been made aware that several banks were a target of online phishing scams where their customers were contacted by email. The scam went on to ask customers to login to an attached website address, that was not an official bank site. While these types of emails go out on a daily basis, according to FraudWatch International.com, 14 different banks were mentioned on November 8, 2011.

The Corpus Christi Police Department would like to remind citizens to check with their banks directly before giving any information on an online email or follow a request to change usernames and passwords. While many of the emails look legitimate by adding the bank official logos they simply redirect customers to third-party websites in other countries.

Here are few tips to follow regarding online banking:

1. Use https when logging into banking and credit card sites, utilizing a “secure” connection.

2. Don’t be fooled by emails. If you are asked to “reply” to a bank the best option is to pick up a phone and speak to someone directly.

3. Don’t be fooled by fake log in screens. Verify that the page you are on is actually the page of the banking institution that you do business with.

4. Reset your passwords often and make them tough to guess.

If you have received an email, that you believe may be a phishing scam, please contact your bank provider. Most bank websites have email addresses set up to contact them of phishing scams.

Corpus Christi Auto Theft Task Force Offers Free VIN Etching

The Corpus Christi Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force will be teaming up with Career Club students from Baker Middle School to providing free VIN etching on Saturday, November 12, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Baker Middle School located at 3445 Pecan Street.

VIN etching involves the use of acid to etch your vehicle identification number into every window of your vehicle and is used as an anti theft deterrent.  It not only provides law enforcement with easy access to your VIN number in the case your call is stolen, it also provides identification in the event your car is being chopped up and sold for parts.

Aggravated Assault

Police responded to 227 Hialeah reference a shooting. When they arrived the 56-year-old male victim told officers that as he was sitting in his living room watching television, an unknown white male in his fifties, opened the front door to his home and shot him.

The victim was hit one time in the upper torso. He was transported to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

The victim told officers he does not know why someone would have done this to him.

Missing Person – Jose Villafranco Rivera

Detectives with the Missing Person Unit are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 65-year-old Jose Villafranco Rivera.  Jose was last seen by his family on November 1, 2011 at 7:00 pm when he left his home driving his 1985 white Dodge Truck, L.P. 04JYY3. 

The family last spoke to Jose by phone around 8:oo pm that evening and he has not been heard of since.

Jose is a local minister and a retired school teacher here in our area.  He is an insulin dependent diabetic and is on several medications for various illnesses.

Suspicious Death Ruled A Homicide – UPDATE

Updating the suspicious death that occurred at 441 Stages on 10.21.2011, the Medical Examiner has ruled the death a homicide.  The cause of death is blunt force trauma.

Detectives have advised the Public Information Office that the deceased male was found in the living room of the home.

Officers were dispatched to 441 Stages for a man down call. Upon arrival they made contact with the CCFD Medics who advised them that the 90-year-old man in the home was deceased. Officers went into the home to secure the scene and noticed blood loss from the victim. They called for the Crime Scene Unit and for Detectives of the Criminal Investigation Division. Detectives arrived did an initial processing of the scene. They secured the area and began to treat it as a suspicious death.

Detectives at the scene informed the Public Information Office that the victim lived alone and was last seen yesterday by neighbors.

Detectives continue to investigate at this time.
