Suspicious Death 400 Stages

Officers were dispatched to 441 Stages for a man down call. Upon arrival they made contact with the CCFD Medics who advised them that the 90-year-old man in the home was deceased. Officers went into the home to secure the scene and noticed blood loss from the victim. They called for the Crime Scene Unit and for Detectives of the Criminal Investigation Division. Detectives arrived did an initial processing of the scene. They secured the area and began to treat it as a suspicious death.

Detectives at the scene informed the Public Information Office that the victim lived alone and was last seen yesterday by neighbors.

Detectives continue to investigate at this time.

Argument Turns to Fatality Accident

Officers responded to 100 Jasper for a pedestrian accident in the Gateway Mobile Home Park.

Upon arrival they found the victim, a 39 year old male, in the roadway with fatal injuries. Medics found life signs and transported him to Spohn Memorial.  Officers also contacted the driver, a 37 year old female. She advised that after an argument with the victim (an acquaintance of hers), the victim was attempting to gain entry to her vehicle to assault her. She drove away while the victim was holding onto her mini van and he was drug under the vehicle. The victim was later pronounced at the hospital.

Both Traffic follow-up and Criminal Investigation Division Detectives responded to the scene. Crime Scene investigators also responded to process and photograph. The case is still under investigation.

Police responded to the H.E.B. reference a theft of a briefcase. When they arrived the victim told officer that he had already placed his items on the conveyor belt and was waiting to pay. That is when he turned to talk to the customer behind him in line. When he turned back he noticed that his briefcase was missing.

The victim then contacted the store security and upon checking the store surveillance and they observe the suspect exiting the store with the briefcase.

The suspect is described as Hispanic female in her thirties, she is about 5′ 5″ to 5′ 7″ in height, she weights 140 – 150 lbs. at the
time of the theft she was wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes and she was carrying a tan purse.

Wanted Fugitive

Jose Ortega

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Jose Luis Ortega (9-30-1971). He is wanted on two counts of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. Charges stem from an Aggravated Sexual Assault in February of 1990, in which he was convicted.

Ortega has been on the run for over a year.

Forged Traveler’s Checks Lead to Arrest

Officers responded to La Palmera Mall after receiving a call for two individuals being detained by mall security for having used an altered travelers’ check.

Upon investigating the allegations, Officers learned that Teniqua Moffatte (2-9-1988) and Marcus Bailey(5-26-1972), both of Georgia, had visited several stores in the mall and used forged traveler’s check to make their purchases.

After having been arrested Moffatte told Officer’s that she had her pet dog in the vehicle which was parked in the mall parking lot. Officer’s then located her vehicle and impounded it. During the impound inventory Officers located 53 forged traveler’s checks as well as several other shopping bags from various stores in Corpus Christi and other cities around the state.

Both Moffatte and Bailey were arrested. The vehicle was impounded and the dog was released to Animal Control.

Aggravated Robbery 3238 Buddy Lawrence

Robbery Investigators are asking for the public’s assistant in identifying the individual responsible for an Aggravated Robbery that occurred on Oct. 9 shortly after 2 am at the Stripes store located at 3238 Buddy Lawrence.

 A witness told police that the suspect came into the store and waited until all the other customers left. The suspect then approached the clerk behind the counter and displayed a steak knife as he demanded the money from the register.

 He is described as a Hispanic male 5’ 8” tall around 180 lbs. with Black hair and Brown eyes. He had tattoo sleeves on both arms, a thin goatee and thick Black eye brows. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a dark Blue t-shirt, Black jeans and Black tennis shoes.

 After the robbery, he then fled the store on foot towardNandina St.

Investigators with the Auto Theft Task Force are asking for your help in identifying this individual who they believe is responsible for an auto burglary in the early morning hours of September 2 on the 100 blk. of Atlantic St.

The individual is described as a white male medium to large build, wearing a tan ball cap and black t-shirt.

Investigators with the Financial Crimes Unit are asking for your help in identifying  two individuals involved in forging checks at a local grocery store.

On August 24 of this year, the victim filed a police report with our department indicating someone had stolen her checkbook.

On September 14, the victim was contacted by the grocery store and told that someone had forged three of her checks for a total of $336.08.

The store was able to provide us with the video showing the individuals in the act.

As you can see in the video, the first subject is described as a middle age white male possibly in his late forties or early fifties; he stands around 5’ 10” to 6’ in height, and weighs around 230 lbs. he is wearing a tan-colored cap, a white polo style shirt with a blue stripe, shorts and work boots; in the other video, he is wearing the same cap with a dark-colored polo, shorts and work boots.

The second subject is a heavy-set Hispanic male around 260 lbs. he is around 5’ 10” tall, wearing a red muscle shirt and shorts.

They were last seen driving an older model white suburban with a blue stripe.

Kirkland’s Theft

Investigators with the Property Crimes unit are looking to identify the two individuals who visited Kirkland’s on Wednesday September 21 shortly after 8:00 pm and stole several items.

The first subject is a Hispanic female wearing an orange outfit with shoulder length Brown hair. She stands around 5’5″ tall and weighs around 150 lbs.

The second subject is a Hispanic male wearing a ball cap, grey t-shirt, faded jeans and white tennis shoes. He stands around 5’5″ tall and weighs around 180 lbs.
