Self Proclaimed Musician Arrested

Corpus Christi Police arrested a self proclaimed professional musician after he attempted to walk out of the Sound Vibrations Store, located at 1638 South Staple Street, with a guitar.

Officers arrived and were told that an employee saw the suspect walk into the store and take a brown Gibson Hummingbird guitar, valued at $4000, from the store rack. The man then walked toward the front door with the guitar, passing all points of sale without making any attempt to pay for the guitar. The employee was able to grab the suspect and he was detained until police arrived.

He attempted to entertain the arresting Officer by singing a few lines of a song, however, he was upstaged by another store employee who chimed in.

The suspect was arrested for felony theft.  He was also charged with possession of marijuana when Officers found a joint in his possession.

The man identified himself to Officers as Christopher Deleon.
After arriving at the City Detention Center an investigation confirmed that the suspect’s real name was Christopher Farris (01/19/1991).  He told Officers he uses Christopher Deleon as a stage name. The suspect was additionally charged with Failure to Identify

A 19 year old man drown in the swimming pool of a hotel located at 15202 Windward Drive on Padre Island while swimming with his sister.

Corpus Christi Police arrived and were told by the victim’s sister that she was swimming with her brother when she got out of the pool to go to the restroom.  When she returned, she observed him floating in the water.

Several people helped her pull him out of the pool and a female nurse began CPR.  CCFD EMS transported the man to Bay Area Hospital where he was pronounced dead about three hours after arriving.

The two family members were in Corpus Christi vacationing from Austin.

Special Downtown Operations Start Tomorrow

The Corpus Christi Police Department will begin special operations in the downtown area for the July 4th “Big Bang” celebration starting tomorrow morning.

The Corpus Christi Police Department Traffic Division will have thirteen Officers in traffic units and nine on motorcycles that will work beginning at 7 AM with the “Four for the Fourth Four Mile Run” starting at the Ortiz Center.

At 4 PM the Traffic Division will have another fifteen additional Officers report for duty.  These Officers will have stationary post in the downtown area at intersections to assist with traffic flow.

Also at 4 PM the Patrol Division will have twelve additional officers report for duty.  They will ride on ATV’s and most will be assigned to patrol the area along the seawall and parks on Shoreline Drive.   A few other Officers will be assigned to North Beach.

All extra Officers will work until the festivities have concluded.

A 26 year old female driver lost control of her truck after being hit by another vehicle traveling down the 4300 block of Holly Road.

The female told Officers that she was driving her, 2013 GMC Sierra truck, east on Holly Road when she was side swiped by a vehicle on the passenger side of her truck causing her to lose control and leave the roadway.

Her truck struck a light pole and then went through a wooden fence striking the two vehicles in the driveway of a home at 4341 Montego Drive.

The vehicle that hit her truck fled the scene and was not located.

The driver, and her 31 year old female passenger, were both transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

A 44 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after a female friend of his was assaulted inside her home, located at 2206 Capitan Drive, by her husband.

When Officers arrived they were told by the 35 year old female victim that her husband had left earlier to walk the dog and was gone for a long time. When he returned, he was intoxicated and the victim was visiting with a male friend.

The victim said that her husband told her friend to leave. After her friend went outside, her husband grabbed her by the hair and dragged her into the bedroom. The friend heard the disturbance while he was outside and called police.

The female then locked herself in a bathroom to try and prevent her husband from getting to her. Her husband kicked in the bath room door and attempted to grabbed her again.

Officers arrived and observed minor injuries to the female and a bathroom door that had been destroyed.

When Officers went to arrest the husband, Tory Jackson (01/02/1977), he attempted to flee on foot. When Officers caught up to him, he physically resisted arrest. Officers were able to take the husband into custody and he was charged with assault, evading arrest on foot, and resisting arrest, all Class A misdemeanors.

The female victim did not suffer any serious bodily injures.

A 40 year old female motel employee called Corpus Christi Police after a female suspect came into the office of the Val Stay Inn, located at 6255 Interstate 37 Access Road South, and assaulted her.

The motel employee told Officers that she was sitting at the cashier desk counting money when the female approached her and attempted to strangle her with a white rope or string that she was carrying.  During a struggle between the two, the female suspect  grabbed a handful of money from the drawer.  She then fled the office with a small amount of cash in her hand.

The victim refused any medical treatment, and Officers have not located the female suspect.

A 28 year old man was arrested after a Texas Parks and Wildlife Warden witnessed a road rage incident in the 12900 block Interstate 37 north.

The Game Warden told Corpus Christi Police that he saw a blue Ford F250 truck tailgating a white Chevrolet truck almost touching the rear bumper.  He then saw the blue truck hit the rear end of the white truck causing it to spin out of control and to hit the concrete median.

The driver of the blue truck attempted to leave the scene, but the Game Warden was able to stop the truck and detain the driver.

The 27 year old driver of the truck that hit the wall was transported to Northwest Hospital for minor injuries to his back.

The driver of the blue truck. Halen Lowman (07/03/1986), was arrested for aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, a second degree felony.

The victim told Officers that the aggressive driver had gotten upset when he entered the freeway from the on ramp and moved in front of him. The victim tapped his break twice to try and get the aggressive driver off his tail, but he said that the driver, instead, accelerated and hit him from the rear causing him to lose control.

Police Investigate the 12th Homicide in 2015

The Corpus Christi Police are investigating the twelfth homicide in 2015 after a dead man was found in an apartment located at 1520 Arlington Drive  Friday afternoon.

The Corpus Christi Police responded to a call for a welfare concern at 4:39pm Friday afternoon after a concerned person was not able to contact a particular man. The Officers worked with the Apartment maintenance crew and made entry into an apartment where the man was believed to be located and the Officers did find a man who may be about 43 years of age. Unfortunately, the Officers found the man had obvious injuries and the man was dead. The Officers believe the death was possibly the result of a criminal action, so the Officers made sure no other person was inside the apartment, then summoned Detectives to conduct an investigation as a homicide.

Detectives have contacted nearby people to ascertain more information about this death and presently do not have a suspect description to provide to the public. Detectives believe this is the twelfth homicide in Corpus Christi in 2015 and would like help from the public to learn more about what or who may have caused the death of this man.

Update:
Corpus Christi Police Detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of Sean Beasely (10/26/1993) for murder related to this case. Beasely was in jail on an unrelated criminal charge at the time the warrant was obtained and the bond amount for the murder warrant was set at $500,000 dollars.

A 34 year old man walked into Doctors Regional Hospital with a gunshot wound to his side.

Corpus Christi Police were called by medical staff and when they arrived to investigate the victim was not very cooperative.  The victim gave Officers several different accounts of what had occurred and would not tell them where the shooting happened.

The only information obtained was that the victim was walking down South Port Avenue when he heard a gunshot sometime around 6:30 PM. He said he then walked to the hospital to get treatment.

Medical Staff at the hospital were treating the victim for a single gunshot wound to his right side near his ribs.

At this time no other information is known about this crime.

Corpus Christi Police are investigating the death of a one month old infant while he was sleeping in a bed with three other family members.

Officers arrived and were told that the 33 year old mother woke up to feed the child who was sleeping next to her.   She found the male infant was not breathing.  CCFD EMS transported the baby to Driscoll Children’s Hospital and he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police continue to investigate this death along with Child Protective Services.

Also in the bed was another 3 year old child and the 33 year old father of the two children.
