Corpus Christi Police arrested a man after he threatened his mother while he was at her apartment, located at 802 Barry Street.

Officers arrived and found a hole in the wall of the apartment that was caused by the man hitting it with his fist. The mother told Officers after her son hit the wall, he grabbed a handgun, that he had just purchased, out of the case and began waving it around. When his mother told him to put it down he said he would shoot it whenever he wants and then he pointed the gun at her.

Luckily, no one was injured, and Officers arrived in time to arrest the son, Darrin Greenwood (08/15/1997), for aggravated assault and recovered the .380 caliber handgun.

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a case in which several shots were fired after a large disturbance outside a home in the 3600 block of Beauregard Drive.

Officers arrived and found 11 bullet casings outside the home, and luckily no one was injured.

Officers did not get much cooperation from the ten people at the scene, but did determine that a fight started outside the home following a graduation party. The fight led to someone firing off several rounds from a hand gun.

Officers believe that the suspects responsible for firing the gun fled the scene in an orange Chevrolet Camaro.

At this time, no suspects have been identified.

A 32 year old male cab driver was robbed at gunpoint after he dropped off a fare in the 2300 block of Buford Street.

Corpus Christi Police arrived and were told by the cab driver that he had picked up a male and female together at a convenience store on Ayers Street. He drove them both to an apartment complex on Buford Street. When the cab stopped, the female got out and told the driver she was going inside an apartment to get the cab fare while the male waited in the cab.

When the female did not return to pay the $35 cab fare, the male who was still with the cab driver, pulled out a shotgun from a bag he had.  The male suspect pushed the cab driver in the chest and told him to leave.

The cab driver, who was not injured, left the area and contacted the police.

Officers believe they have identified both the male and female involved in this case, however, the male suspect has not been located.

On February 1, 2016 at approximately 4:28 PM the suspect was observed on video entering Lowes Home Improvement store. Once inside the store he selected various items and paid for them with a stolen credit card.

The suspect is described as a white male wearing a cowboy hat, a blue shirt with patches on the shoulders, a sleeveless brown jacket and blue jeans.

A 17 year old male was pistol whipped and a 19 year old male was shot by a suspect after a disturbance outside of an apartment located at 2022 Treyway Lane.  

Officers arrived and were told that the two male victims were walking to a friend’s house when the suspect walked up to them and pointed a handgun at them.  The suspect then told the victims he had something for them and threatened to shoot them.

The suspect then used the grip of the pistol he had and hit the 17 year old man in the face, cutting his chin. The suspect then shot the other the 19 year old man in the left thigh.

Following the assault, the suspect fled to a nearby apartment at 2022 Treyway Lane.  Officers were able to locate him and take him into custody.

The suspect, Michael Sotello (05/26/1998), was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

The male victim that was shot, was transported by CCFD EMS to Spohn Memorial Hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound to his leg.  The other victim refused medical treatment.

A man who came home from work early found a burglar inside his residence, located at 4433 South Cornelia Circle.

Officers arrived at the home and found the female burglary suspect sitting on the couch with the homeowner watching over her. The homeowner told Officers that he had arrived home and went inside.  This is when he noticed that his daughter’s bedroom door was closed.  When he opened the door, he found a female standing there holding two watches and a pair of head phones in her hands. The female dropped the items and agreed to go to the living room and sit on the couch and wait until police arrived.

Officers determined the female suspect, Jaime Lacombe (07/01/1992), had made entry into the home through a window on the back side of the house.

She was arrested for burglary, a second degree felony.

Narcotics Investigators Raid House on Cheyenne Street

The Corpus Christi Police Narcotics and Vice Investigators served a search warrant Tuesday afternoon as a result of an investigation into narcotics dealing at 441 Cheyenne Street. Investigators seized 157.63 grams/ 5.55 ounces of Heroin and $6,418.00 in cash. Investigators arrested Jose Hernandez (11/26/51) for Manufacture and Delivery of Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 at a first degree felony level. Hernandez also had an active arrest warrant for Manufacture and Delivery of Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 at a first degree felony level. The search warrant led Investigators to discover Leticia Gonzalez (8/23/80). Investigators arrested Gonzalez for Possession of marijuana, Fail to Identify Fugitive from Justice, a Motion to Revoke warrant for Possession of Controlled Substance, and a warrant for Aggravated Assault with a weapon. Investigators accused Gonzalez of providing false identifying information to police about her identity but was positively identified by patrol officers who assisted at the scene.

Police Seek Public Help To Catch Bank Robber

Corpus Christi Police Robbery/Homicide Detectives would like help from the public to solve a bank robbery that happened at the Member’s First Credit Union on Staples on Saturday, May 14th at 10am.

A 22-year-old woman told Officers that she is employed by the bank as a teller. The 22-year-old woman told Officers that a man went into the bank at about 9:40am on Saturday, passed a note to her, and demanded cash. The 22-year-old woman told Officers she gave cash to the man and the man left. No injuries were reported.

Detectives believe the man arrived at the bank in a new Nissan two door car and was the passenger. Detectives believe there is at least one other person involved in this bank robbery.

The man who went into the bank is described as an adult man who wore a dark color ball cap with some type of emblem on the front, dark sun-glasses, long sleeve light blue button up shirt (all the way to the neck), and dressy khaki pants.

Two men were robbed while they sat in the garage of their home in the 1000 block of Winnebago Street.

The two neighbors, in their fifties, were sitting in the open garage of one of the men when two suspects, both wearing masks and armed with handguns, entered.

The armed men took a wallet and a cellphone from one of the men.  The suspects then took the keys to the other man’s 2007 grey Dodge Charger that was parked in the driveway.

Neither victim was injured.

All the suspects then got into the stolen vehicle and left.

At this time, no suspects have been identified.

Gas pump maintenance personnel working at a gas station, located at 1050 Nueces Bay Boulevard, found a skimming device on the credit card machine portion of the pump.

Maintenance personnel were working on pump #2 at the convenience store and found the red security tape had been removed. Inside the machine, where credit cards are inserted, they located the skimming device.

It is unknown how long the skimmer had been on the pump.

Officers collected the skimmer.

At this time it is unknown who put the device on the gas pump.

Witness Being Sought- Fatal Crash

Police traffic investigators are reaching out to the occupants of a black pick up truck that was involved in a minor crash prior to a fatal crash.  The black pick up probably sustained rear end damage in that minor crash.  Investigators believe that there were also several passengers in the truck at the time of this incident.

The driver of the truck is not a suspect in the fatal crash investigation but is thought to be a witness to the events prior to the fatal crash.

Anybody with information about this truck is encouraged to call the traffic investigators at 886-2689.

 

 

 

Police report 68.75% reduction in firearms stolen from vehicles compared to previous month

Correction to previous post:

Corpus Christi Police Crime Analysts report a 68.75% reduction in firearms stolen from vehicles in April, 2016. There were five reports to the Corpus Christi Police Department of a firearm stolen from a vehicle in the entire month of April, 2016. There were 16 reports of firearms stolen from vehicles in March 2016. The Crime Analyst provided a revision to the previous report at 14:45 today.

The original information reported at 11:05am on May 16, 2016 is:

“Corpus Christi Police Crime Analysts report a 93.75% reduction in firearms stolen from vehicles in April, 2016. There was only one report to the Corpus Christi Police Department of a firearm stolen from a vehicle in the entire month of April, 2016. There were 16 reports of firearms stolen from vehicles in March 2016.

The Crime Analysts report that 43 firearms have been reported stolen from vehicles in all of 2016 up to the end of April and only 11 cases of recovered stolen firearms in Corpus Christi. The report details that 12 firearms were stolen from vehicles and 6 firearms recovered in January; 14 firearms were stolen from vehicles and 0 firearms recovered in February; 16 firearms were stolen from vehicles and 2 firearms recovered in March; and 1 firearm stolen from a vehicle and 3 firearms recovered in April.”

Corpus Christi Police encourage everyone not to leave a firearm in an unattended vehicle unless it is in a locked container that is attached to the vehicle. Police Search For Jewelry Thief

A 63-year-old woman reported a burglary to her jewelry store Monday morning to the Corpus Christi Police.

The 63-year-old woman told Officers an estimated five hundred thousand dollars in jewelry was taken overnight while the business was closed. The 63-year-old woman told Officers that an unknown person broke through the concrete wall on the back of her building to get inside the store and take the jewelry. The 63-year-old woman told Officers the burglary was not discovered until hours after the burglary when employees arrived at the business.

Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives have obtained images of the suspect in this case. Detectives believe the suspect is an adult male, about 30 years of age, medium build, with somewhat dark hair, clean shaven, and appeared to wear a mask and gloves.

A 52 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after he was able to free himself after being tied up by several suspects who had hid in his home in the 4900 block of Gabriel Drive.

The victim told Officers that he had returned home from the grocery store and was in his kitchen putting items away when three men, who had their faces covered with masks, came out of a bedroom and started to assault him.  The man was hit in the face several times, and then one of the suspects sprayed something in his face causing him blindness.

The suspects then used duct tape to tie the victim’s hands behind his back and tie his legs together. He was placed on the kitchen floor as the suspects continued to ransack the house.  Before leaving the suspects began to check the victim’s pants pockets and they took his cell phone, wallet and a debit card. They also demanded the keys to the victim’s vehicle.

The suspects then left the house taking the victims white 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe, his personal property and a flat screen television.

The victim, who was not seriously injured, was able to free himself a short time later and call police.

All three of the suspects were Hispanic males, wearing dark color clothing. Two of the suspects had a thin build, and one was described as heavy set. The victim told Officers that the incident happened so quickly that he was unable to get a better description of the three suspects.

Corpus Christi Police spent several hours assisting the fire department at a structure fire in the 1200 block of Mary Street.

When Officers arrived they found the home fully engulfed in flames and several people outside.

CCFD arrived and were able to extinguish the fire but the home was a total loss.

No one inside the home at the time of the fire was injured.

Corpus Christi Police are investigating the burglary of a jewelry store, located at 6343 South Padre Island Drive, which resulted in nearly half a million dollars’ worth of property being taken.

The owner of the business told Officers that she arrived at the store and found that a suspect had made a hole in the concrete wall in the back to gain access into her business. Once the suspect was inside the jewelry store, he went through all of the jewelry cases stealing property.

The suspect is seen on store video surveillance exiting the store through the same hole he made in the back wall of the business.

The owner could only estimate on how much jewelry was actually taken and said it was a minimum of $500,000.

At this time, no suspects have been identified.
