A neighbor who lives in the 3700 block of Scarlet Oaks Drive called Corpus Christi Police after she heard gunfire outside her home and then saw two cars driving away.

After both cars left, the female witnessed a 16 year old male walking in the street.  Officers arrived and the male told them that he was in one of the cars with a group of other males, when he started to get assaulted.

The car he was in stopped on Spanish Oaks Drive and he was forced  out. Another car with another group of males that was following also stopped and they all got out and told him to give up his shoes and a cell phone.  Before leaving, one of the males pulled out a gun and fired a shot into the ground near the victim but did not strike him.

All of the suspects got into a cream colored Cadillac and the other car and fled with the stolen property.

The victim was taken to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS for the minor injuries he sustained in the assault.

Officers are still investigating this case, and no suspects have been identified.

103 Vehicles Up For Auction On Saturday

The City of Corpus Christi will auction 103 cars, trucks, and motorcycles at the Police Vehicle Impound Lot, located at 5485 Greenwood Drive, on Saturday, December 5, 2015. The auction will start at 10:00 am.

The general public is encouraged to register and view the vehicles for auction from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Friday, December 4. The general public can continue to view the vehicles from 8:00 am to 10:00 am on the day of the auction.

The vehicles for auction may be viewed online and an auction list may be downloaded from www.siskauction.com.

Man Arrested For Dumping Tires

Corpus Christi Police have arrested a man they believe dumped more than forty tires behind a business located in the 2700 block of Morgan Avenue on March 4.

Officers arrived after an employee of the business called to report that he had video evidence of someone dumping tires behind Bonilla Plaza.

Officers were able to view the video and they saw a man exit a white truck that had pulled behind the business. The suspect is seen pulling several tires out of the bed of his truck and unloading them in the alley.  The suspect then leaves after he empties the bed of his truck.

After an investigation, Officers determined that the tires came from a shop in the 3200 block of Baldwin Boulevard. The owner of the shop told Officers he had hired a man to dispose of the tires.

Officers were able to identify the suspect, Jose Carrillo (05/06/1964), and an arrest warrant was issued for him on December 1 by Judge Joe Benavides. The suspect was located at a home in the 1200 of Elgin Street later that same day.

The Corpus Christi Police Department wants to warn suspects that we are using social media, surveillance cameras and targeted patrols to stop this type of illegal dumping.  If anyone witnesses tire dumping, please call police immediately.

An employee with Genesis Energy, located in the 1100 block of Southern Minerals Road, called Corpus Christi Police after he arrived at work to find that 24 eighteen wheeler tires and rims had been taken off three semi tractors.

After the suspects removed the Goodyear tires and aluminum rims, they left the semi tractors on blocks. The employee told Officers that the total of the theft was estimated to be nearly $28,000.

Camera surveillance video from the business shows two male suspects wearing dark colored hoodies, covering their faces, cut the gate and enter the property. Once the tires and rims were off, they loaded them into a U-Haul truck that they drove to the location.

At this time Officers continue to investigate this crime, and no suspects have been identified.

Officers Involved In Shooting Return To Work

The two Corpus Christi Police Officers involved in a shooting, at a home located in the 5000 block of Concord Drive, on November 23 have returned to duty.

Senior Officer Christopher Simnacher, who has 5 years of service, and Officer Joshua Newman, who has 4 years of service, have both been cleared to return back to work.

A fight between two brothers, at their home located in the 4700 block of Franklin Drive, sent one to the hospital for treatment.

Corpus Christi Police were called to the home after the 51 year old younger brother returned home intoxicated and creating a disturbance with the mother of the two. When the 62 year old brother went to intervene, the younger brother grabbed a kitchen knife and tried to stab him.

The older brother hit the younger brother in the head with a boot in an attempt to defend himself.

The younger brother was transported by CCFD EMS to Spohn Memorial Hospital to be treated for a cut above his left eye.

The older brother told Officers he did not want to press charges.

Patrol Report 11/30/2015

A boyfriend and girlfriend were arrested by Corpus Christi Police after the two were caught breaking into a vehicle in the 1000 block of Miramar Place.

Officers arrived and were given a description of the two by witnesses who saw the suspects enter a 2006 GMC Envoy and remove property from inside.

Francis Reza (08/27/1998) and Raul Medrano (04/29/1993) were both arrested for burglary.

The stolen property was returned to the owner.

No Trailer Inspections This Wednesday

The Corpus Christi Police Auto Theft Task Force will NOT be doing 68a Trailer Inspections at the impound lot on November 25 due to the upcoming holidays.   

The next scheduled inspections will occur on Wednesday, December 2 at 9 AM at the Impound Yard located at 5485 Greenwood Drive.

 

Officer Involved Shooting

Date: November 23, 2015
Time: 12:15 am
Location: 5000 Concord Dr.

At 12:01am, Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the 5000 Concord Dr. in reference to an overdose. Upon arrival, officers were confronted by a 49-year-old male with a knife. The responding officers communicated with the suspect and at some point during the confrontation a TASER was deployed but was ineffective. The suspect came at the officers with the knife. Fearing for their safety, the officer fired his weapon, striking the suspect in the torso. The suspect was transported to Spohn Memorial and at the time of this report his condition is unknown.

The Officers involved will be placed on Administrative Duty, as per policy, pending the investigation. None of the Officers at the scene were injured.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division and Forensics Division will work this evening to gather more information and interview those present during the incident.

There will be more details available sometime Monday afternoon.

A wanted person who tried to hide under a house in the 700 block of Sam Rankin Street, to evade capture, was arrested by Corpus Christi Police.

An Officer, working for the RTA, was at the bus stop in the 1400 block of Leopard Street when he recognized Javier Cantu (04/11/1982) and knew he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for failure to register as a sex offender.   When the Officer went to detain the wanted person he ran away on foot down Sam Rankin Street towards Antelope Street.

Officers found the man trying to hide from them underneath a house on Sam Rankin Street and he refused to come out.   Corpus Christi Police SWAT and HNT Officers responded to the scene and were able to talk the man into coming out from under the home and he was arrested for the outstanding warrants and for evading police on foot.
