CCPD Gets Into The Giving Spirit This Holiday Season

Several Corpus Christi Police Officers were very generous with their time and money this holiday season.

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, Corpus Christi Police Officers along with several other area law enforcement agencies participated in the “Shop with a Cop” program. In all, 627 children from Corpus Christi, Robstown, Kingsville, Gregory, Portland and Aransas Pass went to area Wal Mart Stores and were given money to shop with law enforcement officers.

This was the 18th Christmas that Shop with a Cop made a child’s Christmas a little better.

Corpus Christi Police Directed Patrol Officers and Code Enforcement Officers raised money to purchase toys for the kids of the Life Skills Class at Tuloso Midway High School.

Just before school was dismissed for Christmas, the Officers escorted “Santa” with full lights and sirens to the school and into the classroom to bring Christmas to the kids.

As Christmas neared, Officers didn’t stop the giving. Members of the Corpus Christi Police Officers Association delivered gifts to over 600 kids.

The “Blue Santa” was flown into the city by the United States Coast Guard. He was then escorted to the Boys and Girls Club where he delivered gifts to several children. Once everyone there had a present, Blue Santa went to deliver toys at the La Armada Housing Authority on Ayers Street. Blue Santa wasn’t done and then went to the Treyway Terrace Apartments, located in the 2000 block of Treyway Lane, to make Christmas a little brighter there.

On Christmas Eve, Officers were still hard at work doing good deeds.

From the HEB located at Robert Street and South Alameda Street, the Police Officers Christmas Angels group set off to deliver baskets full of ingredients for a Christmas meal.  Officers helped distribute 125 food baskets throughout the city to families who may otherwise not have had a Christmas meal.

A 20 year old female called Corpus Christi Police after she was assaulted by her boyfriend because she asked him to bath their child.

Officers arrived and were told by the victim that her boyfriend, Nathan Barrows (10/27/1986), became upset because she came into the bathroom to check on the two. The boyfriend became enraged and charged at her, grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the ground.

Officers arrested the boyfriend for assault.

The female was treated by CCFD EMS but she was not transported to the hospital.

Man Steals From Store Office While Workers Help Customers

Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives would like help from the public to identify and locate a man who climbed a wall to get into the office of a store to steal money and cigarettes while the store was open for business.

A 46-year-old woman reported the theft to the Corpus Christi Police Department on December 14, 2015 and told Officers that she had video which showed an unknown man climbed over a wall at about 7:35pm to the store office and the unknown man stole money out of her wallet and 36 cartons of cigarettes an estimated value of about $2,160 dollars.

The 46-year-old woman provided video to the Officers and described the man as a man about 20 to 30 years of age with a thin build and dark hair. The video shows the man wore dark pants, a white long sleeve shirt and black jacket. Suspect Robs Southside Bank

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of a suspect that they believe robbed the International Bank of Commerce, located at 4622 Everhart Road, on Tuesday morning.

A female bank teller told Officers that a black male between the ages of 30 and 35 years of age walked into the lobby and handed her a note that made threats and demanded money. The male suspect was wearing a dark jacket with a hood.  He also had sunglasses resting on his head.. At no time did the suspect display a weapon.

Images of the suspect were captured by a camera in the bank lobby as he stood at the counter.

At the time of the robbery, there were five employees in the bank and one customer. No one was injured.

The suspect in this case has not been identified and Detectives need your help in solving this crime. A 48 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after another man threatened to stab him after he refused to give him a cigar.

The two men were in the parking lot of a motel, located at 3640 Leopard Street, when a friend of the victims asked him for a cigar. The victim said he did not have one, and the suspect got mad.  He pushed the victim in the chest, then pulled put a pocket knife and then threatened to stab him.

The suspect chased the victim around d the parking lot, until the victim was able to run to the Pizza Hut and call police.

Officers located the suspect, Jose Torres (08/08/1976), in the parking lot of the motel and arrested him for aggravated assault.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of a suspect that they believe robbed the 7 Eleven Store, located at 6302 Saratoga Boulevard, Sunday morning.

The store clerk told Officers that a man wearing a black mask, long sleeve shirt, pants and grey loafers, came into the store and demanded money from the cash register and her cell phone. The suspect who was armed with a shotgun handed the clerk a back pack to put the property in. The suspect then ran out of the store towards the McDonalds.

The suspect in this case has not been identified and Detectives need your help in solving this crime. Motor Vehicle Accident with a Pedestrian

Corpus Christ Police Officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. CCPD officers arrived and discovered that a group of 4 younger children were going to Walmart. Two  of the children decided to cross the freeway, unfortunately a 10 year old male was struck by a vehicle.

The responding officers began CPR until Corpus Christi Fire Department medics arrived and transported the child to Spohn Memorial Hospital. Last update on the 10 year old child is that he was in critical condition undergoing surgery.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and contacted police. The driver was not intoxicated and is cooperating fully with follow up investigators.

Investigators are still on the scene of the accident. As soon as we have more information we will update this post.

Charlie District, Narcotics/Vice Division

Vice Officers Arrest Two Females At Spa

The Narcotics / Vice Investigations Division of the Corpus Christi Police Department ran an operation in response to complaints it received regarding prostitution activities at the Royal Spa, located in the Town and Country Shopping Center at 4252 South Alameda Street.

The operation took place at about 1:00 PM on December 23 and resulted in the arrest of Song Yuejuan (10/17/1975) for prostitution, a Class B Misdemeanor.

Jiaduo Yi (01/28/1981) was also arrested. She was charged with operating as a massage therapist without a license which is required under the Occupation Code by the State of Texas, a Class B misdemeanor.

Offense: Crash

Both east and west bound lanes of State Highway 358 near Bear Lane had to be closed while Corpus Christi Police investigated a crash.

Officers arrived and determined that a 2004 Ford truck driven by an 18 year old man was traveling east when the driver lost control of his vehicle and hit the outside cement wall.  After striking the wall, the truck traveled back across all three lanes of the freeway, and hit a Hummer HU3 driven by a 20 year old man.  The Hummer was then forced into a 2005 Ford Expedition that was occupied by six people. The force of that crash sent the Hummer across the center barricade and onto westbound lanes of the freeway.

Seven people were transported by CCFD EMS to hospitals. Five, including a 9 year old female and a 2 year old boy all went to Spohn Memorial Hospital. Two other children, a 10 year old boy and a six month old female were taken to Driscoll Children’s Hospital.

Those children were all traveling in the Ford Expedition.

None of the injuries appear to be life threatening.

The freeway was reopened about an hour later.
