Offense: Hit and Run Investigation

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the 7100 block of Southhaven Dr. for a hit and run crash with an AEP Power pole. Officers found a wooden electrical pole on the north side of the road had been broken off a few feet above the ground.  The remaining pole was standing upright in the street being held up by some wires.  Several other wires had snapped and were on the sidewalk.  A witness told officers she saw a white truck with a short bed in the roadway shortly after she heard the crash, and then saw the truck leaving the scene on Rodd Field Road. Officers determined that a vehicle traveling east on Southhaven Dr. jumped the north curb, and struck the wooden electrical pole and then fled the scene.  Damage to the pole was estimated to be about $3,500.  Corpus Christi Police Hit and Run Investigators will be looking into this case to see if they can identify a vehicle and driver involved.

Drug Take Back Results

Local Drug Enforcement Authorities announced the results of the Drug Take Back event which was held on Saturday, September 27th, 2014. The following weights were announced:

Female Walks Out With Stolen Shoes

The manager from the Bealls Department Store located at 5488 South Padre Island Drive called Corpus Christi Police to report that over $250 worth of shoes were stolen. The suspect female went to the shoe department in the store and began cutting security tags off shoes and then concealed the shoes in hand bags.  Security camera images show a hispanic female, 30 to 40 years of age with dark medium length hair walking out of the store without paying. Anyone who can identify the individual responsible, or has any additional information about this crime should call the Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives at 886-2840. A Corpus Christi Police Officer responding to a call about neighbors arguing at 4518 Domingo Drive found a vehicle with a wanted person inside. The caller advised police that a black suburban involved in the disturbance had just left toward Greenwood Rd. Officers responding to the call observed the suspect vehicle at the intersection of Greenwood Rd. and Horne Rd. and stopped it.  A male sitting in the backseat of the suburban was identified as wanted murder suspect Ronald Jackson (02/01/1970).  He was taken into custody without incident.   The 52 year old driver of the suburban and his female passenger were released.   An arrest warrant had been issued for the suspect in connection to a homicide at 4605 Jose Street earlier in the day.

Man Suffers Gun Shots on Fig Street

Offense: Aggravated Assault (Penal Code Section 22.02) 2nd Degree Felony

A 37-year-old man reported an aggravated assault on the 2800 block of Fig Street to Corpus Christi Police Saturday. Corpus Christi Police responded to a call of a shooting at 12:09pm Saturday and found a 37-year-old man in the street with obvious injuries which appeared to responding officers to be gun shots. The 37-year-old man was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of his injuries.

Witnesses told Officers that the 37-year-old man was shot by another man in the street. Witnesses told Officers the suspect ran with a woman from the scene of the shooting east on Clodah from Fig and then ran north toward Fern Drive. Witnesses described the suspect as a man about 5 feet five inches tall, about 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Corpus Christi Police Detectives and Forensics Services were summoned to collect information and evidence from the scene and Officers continue to search for the suspect.

Police Conduct Death Investigation on Jose Drive

UPDATE: At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Murder for Ronald Jackson (2.1.1970)
Jackson was arrested at 9:36 p.m. near Greenwood and Horne during a traffic stop. He was booked into the CDC.

The Corpus Christi Police are conducting an investigation of an unattended death which happened on the 4600 block of Jose Drive Saturday morning. Corpus Christi Police responded to a call for help at 11:05am in which a 38-year-old woman was reportedly not responsive. Officers and Emergency Medical Services arrived and determined the 38-year-old woman was deceased. The Emergency Responders observed the circumstances and suspected the death of the 38-year-old woman may not have been the result of natural causes.

Officers summoned the assistance of the Corpus Christi Police Criminal Investigations Division and the Corpus Christi Police Forensics Services to gather information and evidence from the scene. Detectives will have the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office evaluate the 38-year-old woman to determine the cause of death in order to conclude whether or not the death was a result of criminal action. Detectives are interested in speaking to several people, but there are no suspects in this event because there is no determination of criminal action until the cause of death has been identified.

The Corpus Christi Police would like help from the public to locate a fugitive. Corpus Christi Police are searching for 36-year-old Joe Bernal (2/16/1978) for Possession of a Controlled Substance. The warrant was issued by the 117th Court on August 12, 2014. Bernal is described as a male who stands six feet tall, weighs 200 pounds, has brown eyes, brown hair, a scar on his left eyebrow, and a tattoo on his back of a gargoyle on the top of a building.

Police Investigate Two Deaths on Etienne Drive

Corpus Christi Police are investigating the deaths of two adults on the 8000 block of Etienne Drive Thursday afternoon. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a shooting at 3:40pm on the 8000 block of Etienne Drive. Officers discovered a woman in the street and a man near the front door to a house and the Officers saw they had obvious injuries. Officers said they believe the injuries were consistent with gunshot wounds and had the Corpus Christi Fire Department Emergency Medical Services provide treatment to the man and woman. The man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene.

Responding Officers summoned the assistance from the Corpus Christi Police Criminal Investigations Division and the Corpus Christi Police Forensics Services. Detectives processed the scene and believed the event was a possible murder/suicide and have no information to support any claim of a third person involved in this event. Detectives continue to gather information and evidence from the area and continue to work to verify the identity of the man and woman and any relationship they may have. The man is believed to be in his 50’s in age and the woman is believed to be in her 40’s in age. Anyone who has any information about this case who have not spoken with Police should contact the Corpus Christi Police Criminal Investigations Division at 886-2841.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of a business located at 6773 S Padre Island Dr. when a witness called to report he was watching a man break into his friends’ car. When officers arrived they were directed by the witness to the front of the hotel parking lot to a white Ford Escape car and they saw a male sitting in the driver’s seat. Officers found Andrew Parker (06/27/1993) removing property including a black 9 MM caliber handgun from the car.  The suspect was arrested and charged with burglary of a vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor, and the stolen items were returned to the victim.

Car Burglar Swipes Purse

A 28 year old female called Corpus Christi Police to report that her 2004 GMC Envoy SUV had been broken into while it was parked in front of a business located at 4440 S. Padre Island Dr. Camera images show a male suspect walk around the building and break the passenger side door window.  The suspect then reaches in and takes the victims purse.  The suspect was then picked up by a dark colored passenger car, unknown make or model. Anyone who can identify the individual responsible, or has any additional information about this crime should call the Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives at 886-2840.
