Medina is described as black-haired Hispanic man, 5’8″ feet tall, and weighs 220 lbs.

A 52-year-old man reported a burglary to a home on the 300 block of Old Robstown Road Sunday to the Corpus Christi Police Department. The 52-year-old man told Officers he is watching the home while the owner is out of town and discovered that some unknown person ransacked the inside of the home without permission sometime between  Thursday and Sunday. The 52-year-old man was not able to identify if anything was missing from the home.

A gold 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by a 28year old man struck a house on the 400 block of Old Robstown Road Sunday night. Crash Investigators believe the 28-year-old man had a medical emergency condition while driving and struck a wooden fence, then a guide wire to an electrical pole, a chain link fence, and then struck the back part of a house. The 28-year-old man was taken to the hospital by ambulance for non life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 31-year-old Kristin Deyo (8/1/1982) for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while her license was suspended at Caribbean and Laguna Shores Road Monday morning. A Corpus Christi Police Officer saw Deyo drive a white Ford Explorer on Caribbean Drive and knew Deyo from previous experience and knew she did not have a valid driver license. The Officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested Deyo for driving while license suspended. The Officer found contraband he believes is methamphetamine and additionally charged Deyo with possession of a controlled substance and for possession of drug paraphernalia. The Officer impounded the vehicle and delivered Deyo to the city detention center.

A 50-year-old woman reported an attempted purse snatching at a store parking lot at 4938 Staples Street Sunday. The 50-year-old woman told Officers she walked in the parking lot when she was approached by a small black 2 door car and a man inside the car reached out and grabbed her purse. The woman told Officers she was able to hold on and keep her purse. The 50-year-old woman described the suspect as a light skin male about 30 years in age with black hair and about 220 pounds.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 42-year-old Anthony Hendred (6/11/1971) for Possession of Marijuana at a store at 3601 Staples Street Saturday. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a man sleeping on the side of the building at about 9pm. Officers woke Hendred and discovered Hendred laid on a bag of marijuana. The Officers arrested Hendred for possession of marijuana and public intoxication. The Officers then delivered Hendred to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 32-year-old Juan Moya (6/24/1981) for Intoxicated Assault and Reckless Driving after a vehicle crash at Carroll Lane and Tiger Lane Saturday. Corpus Christi Police responded to a vehicle crash at 2:56pm Saturday and learned a black 2013 Chrysler 300 driven by Moya struck a tan 2000 Chevrolet Silverado in the intersection which caused Moya and three other people to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. A 28-year-old woman passenger in the Chrysler had serious injuries according to the Officers report. A 22-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman in the Silverado were taken for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. Moya was treated for injuries at the hospital and released the night of January 5th. Corpus Christi Police Officers arrested Moya for Intoxicated Assault and Reckless Driving and then delivered Moya to the city detention center.

A 23-year-old man reported a robbery at his home located at the 800 block of Sixteenth Street Sunday to the Corpus Christi Police. The 23-year-old man told Officers an unknown woman knocked on his door at about 11:00pm and requested to use his phone because she was stranded. The 23-year-old man told Officers he allowed the woman inside his home to use the phone. The 23-year-old man told Officers a few minutes after the woman went inside his home, several unknown men came into his home and assaulted him. The 23-year-old man told Officers the woman struck him on the head with a bat and left with the phone valued at about $500 dollars. The 23-year-old man told Officers the five people got into a white passenger car and left in an unknown direction.

A 22-year-old woman reported an aggravated robbery at the store located at 3042 South Port Avenue to the Corpus Christi Police Monday. The 22-year-old woman told Officers she is a store employee and at about 12:30am, an unknown man went into the store, displayed a knife and demanded money from the register. The 22-year-old woman told Officers she handed over money to the man and the man ran from the store toward the Crosstown Expressway. No injuries were reported. The 22-year-old woman described the suspect as a light skin male about 5 foot 2 inches tall, about 140 pounds, and wore a brown jacket with a hoodie, a ski mask and gloves.

Corpus Christi Police Capture Murder Suspects

Corpus Christi Police arrested two people for murder warrants, two people for evading arrest, and recovered a stolen vehicle at the 8200 block of South Padre Island Drive Friday night.

The Comal County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Corpus Christi Police Department to search the area of South Padre Island Drive and Paul Jones for a murder suspect that may be in a stolen white Lexus sedan. The murder investigated by the Comal County Sheriff’s Office happened January 1, 2014. A Corpus Christi Police Officer saw a white Lexus sedan in the area of a hotel located at 8202 South Padre Island Drive. The Officer followed the Lexus and learned it was the same vehicle sought by the Comal County Sheriff’s Office. The Officer initiated a traffic stop, but the vehicle accelerated from the Officer until it stopped at the 1200 block of Preston Drive. Two men ran from the Lexus after it stopped. Corpus Christi Police Officers chased, and apprehended the two men which were 35-year-old Marty Forehand (10/30/1978) and 18-year-old Daniel Smith (10/6/1995). Forehand was arrested for unauthorized use of a vehicle and Smith was arrested for evading arrest. Corpus Christi Police Officers learned that Forehand and Smith were not wanted in relation to the homicide in Comal County. The Lexus was taken to the city impound.

Corpus Christi Police Officers went back to 8202 South Padre Island Drive in an effort to locate the murder suspect and saw a Ford F-250 leave the parking lot. Officers stopped the truck and a man and woman jumped out and ran from the truck. Another man and woman remained in the truck and were detained by Officers. Other Officers chased and captured the woman, 19-year-old Skyler Burghart (8/9/1995) and discovered Burghart was wanted in relation to the murder in Comal County. Officers set up a perimeter and used the Patrol K9 and the Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter to search for the man who ran from the truck. After a short time, Officers found 18-year-old Austin Byrum (9/12/1994) who was also wanted in relation to the murder in Comal County.

The 19-year-old man, the 18-year-old woman, and the 9 month old child who remained in the truck when Burghart and Byrum ran, were released with no criminal charges. The truck was taken to the city impound lot. Corpus Christi Police are not searching for any other person related to this event.

Officers delivered Forehand, Smith, Burghart, and Byrum to the city detention center.

Narcotics/Vice Raid 8-Liner Operation

On 01/03/14 at about 12:00 hours officers from the Narcotics Vice Investigations Division executed a search warrant at the PMI store located at 4902 Greenwood.  The warrant was obtained after an ongoing investigation by undercover officers  revealed that the store was running a continuing illegal gambling operation.

A search of the store netted a seizure of ten 8-liner machines,  2 quarter slider machines,  the computer system which operated the 8-liner machines,  a ticket printer for  the machines,  $897 cash and numerous illegal pipes that are used to smoke marijuana.  The pipes that were seized had an approximate value $1,650.

The investigation is ongoing and charges of keeping a gambling place a class A misdemeanor are pending against the owner of the store.  The store owner will additionally be cited for the illegal pipes.

Identity of Man Involved in Theft Sought

Corpus Christi Police are asking the public’s assistance to help identify a man who can be seen on surveillance video picking up a wallet which had been dropped by the victim.   The man fails to turn the wallet in to store employees or the police.

The suspect is described as a 35 to 45-year-old bald Black male with a gray goatee and weighing 185 to 200 lbs.  He is can be seen wearing blue jeans and a black hoodie type jacket.

New Year, New Ride! Join us for our monthly auction

On Saturday, January 4, 2014, a total of 109 cars, trucks, and motorcycles will be auctioned at the Corpus Christi Police Department Vehicle Impound Lot located at 5485 Greenwood Drive during our monthly auction. The site has four paved acres for an auction lot. 

Approximately 39 of these vehicles are “No Insurance” impounds. On Friday, January 3, 2014, the general public will be allowed to register and view the vehicles to be auctioned from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There is no registration fee. 

On the day of the auction, the general public can continue to register and view the vehicles from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The auction will commence promptly at 10:00 a.m. on January 5, 2014.   The vehicles to be auctioned can be viewed at www.siskauction.com. An auction list may also be downloaded from the same website. 

The department’s strong stand and enforcement of this “Zero Tolerance No Insurance Initiative” will continue and all vehicles involved in accidents will be impounded and the driver cited if they are unable to provide financial proof of insurance. Driver’s license and proof of financial responsibility checkpoints will continue to be conducted at the Shift Captains’ authorization. 

During December 2013, Officers issued 439 citations for Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility and impounded 76 vehicles for the same charge.  In 2013, a total of 7,114 citations for Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility were issued and 1,036 vehicles were impounded for the same charge.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 41-year-old Adam Duncan (4/26/1972) for Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Warrant for his arrest, Evading Arrest, Resisting Arrest, and Tampering With Evidence at 1802 Ennis Joslin Friday morning. A Corpus Christi Police Officer investigated Duncan as a suspicious person at an apartment complex located at 1802 Ennis Joslin at about midnight. Duncan fled from the Officer on a bike west across the road and into a field. The Officer chased and captured Duncan. The Officer learned that Duncan had an active warrant for his arrest for Interference with an Emergency Call. The Officer arrested Duncan for the warrant, for evading arrest and for resisting arrest and transported Duncan to the city detention center. The Officer noticed Duncan move around excessively in the back seat while the Officer completed reports. The Officer discovered Duncan attempted to conceal or destroy contraband, so the Officer additionally charged Duncan with the possession f a controlled substance (believed to be methamphetamine) and for tampering with evidence. The Officer then delivered Duncan to the city detention center.

An 18-year-old man reported his black 2012 Nissan Rogue stolen from the store at 4202 Staples Street to Corpus Christi Police Friday morning. The 18-year-old man told Officers he went into the store and left the engine running while the vehicle was left unattended in the parking lot. The 18-year-old man told Officers he saw a man in a gray hoodie get into the vehicle without permission and drive away.

Corpus Christi Police recovered a stolen vehicle at 4101 Ayers Street Thursday morning. A Corpus Christi Police Officer saw a tan 2000 Buick Century parked in a handicap parking space and then discovered the vehicle was reported stolen from Robstown on January 1, 2014. The Officer had the vehicle delivered to the city impound lot.

Corpus Christi Police took two juveniles into custody when a woman found them asleep in her home located on the 4500 block of Silver Hollow Drive without permission Thursday. A 34-year-old woman complained about the criminal trespass to the Corpus Christi Police at 10:15am. The 34-year-old woman explained that her two step daughters, ages 16 and 14, allowed a 16-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy to stay the night without permission and she had previously prohibited the 16-year-old girl and the 10-year-old boy to be in her house. Officers verified the documentation from a couple weeks previous that the 34-year-old woman filed a complaint with the Corpus Christi Police that the two were prohibited on the premises, so the Officers placed the 16-year-old girl and the 10-year-old boy in custody and delivered them to the Nueces County Juvenile Detention Center for Criminal Trespass.

Corpus Christi Police took a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl into custody for criminal mischief to a home on the 4500 block of Silver Hollow Drive Thursday. A 34-year-old woman met Corpus Christi Police Officers on the front lawn and told the Officers her two step daughters, ages 16 and 14, became angry because police were summoned to the house earlier in the morning. The 34-year-old woman told Officers the two step daughters broke several windows in the house, destroyed a kitchen table, poured paint on the exterior of the house, and cut the tires on her vehicle. The two step daughters then locked the door while the 34-year-old woman spoke to the Officers and continued to do damage to the home while Officers were locked outside. Officers were able to gain entry and apprehend the two juvenile girls. The 34-year-old woman estimated the damage to the home at over $5,000 dollars. The Officers delivered the two juvenile girls to the Nueces County Juvenile Detention Center for Criminal Mischief.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 47-year-old Jose Vasquez (9/16/1966) for driving while intoxicated at Churchill Drive and Tarlton Street Friday night. A Corpus Christi Police Officer initiated a traffic stop when she saw a red 2007 Ford F-150 turn without using the signal. The Officer discovered Vasquez was the driver and arrested Vasquez for driving while intoxicated. The truck was impounded and the Officer delivered Vasquez to the city detention center.

Animal Care Services Announces Logo Contest

Corpus Christi Animal Care Services & Vector Control (CCAC) is seeking a new logo for the New Year and announces the logo design contest to begin January 1st and end February 1st

CCACS has evolved over the past year and has dedicated itself to a new mission and philosophy that encompass all the services and programs we provide to the Corpus Christi community. CCACS hopes to find a new logo that will further demonstrate our commitment to excellence and to the community we serve.

The current logo has not been updated for many years and is ready for a face lift. The Department is looking for a modern, professional design that will reflect the Department’s new mission and vision statements. The new logo will be used on everything from a large sign at the Animal Shelter to staff uniforms and the Department website.

Beginning January 1st, the Department will be accepting submissions from the public for its new logo. The contest is open to amateurs and professionals alike. The logo should help to articulate the mission and vision of CCACS, which is:

Our Vision is to create and preserve a safe community through education, enforcement and leadership.

The Mission of the Corpus Christi Animal Care Services & Vector Control is to balance the health, safety and welfare needs of the people and animals in our City. Through our mission we will educate the public about responsible companion animal ownership, aggressively investigate animal cruelty cases, provide compassion and humane care for unwanted, stray, abused, and abandoned animals in our City, and give adoptable animals a second chance at a forever home.

The designer of the winning entry will receive a plaque and recognition on signage inside the Animal Shelter, located at 2626 Holly Rd. Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. The winning designer will be announced in local media releases, and on the Department’s website.

Police Investigate Assault on Haven Drive

Corpus Christi Police are investigating an assault and unlawful restraint complaint that happened Thursday morning at the 11600 block of Haven Drive. Corpus Christi Police responded to the assault complaint when a person (not involved in the assault or unlawful restraint), discovered a 28-year-old woman in need of help. The investigating Officers learned the suspect in the assault was a 33-year-old man and had left prior to law enforcement arrival. Officers also learned that the 33-year-old man is employed as a Border Patrol Agent and had left to a location outside of Corpus Christi.

Detectives learned that the 33-year-old man was in custody @ the Medina County Sheriff’s Office (830-741-6150).

The 28-year-old woman was treated for minor injuries and Detectives continue to gather information and evidence related to this case. The Corpus Christi Police are responsible for the investigation of the assault and unlawful restraint which happened on Haven Drive. The Texas Rangers are investigating all out of jurisdiction incidents.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 19-year-old Ruben Ramirez (12/25/1994) for aggravated assault Sunday at the 100 block of Sam Rankin Street. Corpus Christi Police responded to an assault at about 4:52pm Sunday and discovered an injured 60-year-old man. The 60-year-old man was taken to the hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

Officers arrested Ramirez who caused the injury. Detectives learned that the 60-year-old man died January 1, 2014 as a result of his injuries. The event is listed as the cities 17th criminal homicide of 2013.
