Corpus Christi Auto Theft Detectives are asking the public’s assistance to help identify the suspect  caught on surveillance video burglarizing the victim’s vehicle at a local restaurant.  The suspect vehicle a charcoal gray four-door sedan pulls into the parking lot and parks next to the victim’s blue Yukon.  Shortly thereafter, the suspect vehicle can be seen as it drives away towards Flynn Parkway.

The 23-year-old woman told Officers she returned home from a trip to San Antonio and discovered her front door was pried open and two televisions with a total value of about $3,000 dollars were missing from inside her home.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 19-year-old Paig Williams (2/22/1994) for a warrant of arrest for resisting arrest in Tarrant County Sunday after she was found in West Guth Park after curfew. Williams was delivered to the city detention center.

A 55-year-old woman reported an aggravated robbery at a convenience store located at 3238 Buddy Lawrence Drive Sunday to the Corpus Christi Police. The 55-year-old woman told Officers she is an employee of the store and a man went into the store at 2:40am, displayed a knife, and demanded cash from the register. The 55-year-old woman told Officers the man got cash and cigarettes and then left the store. No injuries were reported. The 55-year-old woman described the suspect to Police as a man who was about 5 feet 8 inches tall, 180 pounds, and wore a gray hoodie and a blue bandana over his face. No arrests have been made.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated (Penal Code Section 49.04) Class B Misdemeanor

Corpus Christi Police responded to a vehicle crash that involved three vehicles at Curtis Clark and Staples at 11:34pm Friday night. Corpus Christi Police Crash Investigators believe a white 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by 24-year-old Hector Garcia (9/26/1989) crashed through a fence and then struck a gray 2012 Nissan Altima operated by a 23-year-old woman and then struck a red 2008 Ford Fusion operated by a 28-year-old woman. None of the vehicles had passengers other than the operators. All three were taken to the hospital for treatment of their non life-threatening injuries and the vehicles were towed due to damage. Garcia was treated and released from the hospital and arrested for driving while intoxicated. Corpus Christi Police collected a specimen of his blood and then delivered him to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police provided traffic control for a brush fire on Padre Island Saturday afternoon. Police discovered a 24-year-old man drove his vehicle in an area not open to the public and where vehicles were prohibited and the vehicle became stuck. Officers and Fire Fighters believe heat from the vehicle caused the grass to ignite and burn an unpopulated area of Padre Island. No injuries were reported. Corpus Christi Police received a criminal complaint against the 24-year-old man for Criminal Trespass and Reckless Destruction. No arrests have been made and Police continue to investigate.

A 27-year-old woman reported a burglary to her home located at the 600 block of Cunningham Street Saturday to the Corpus Christi Police. The 27-year-old woman told Officers she arrived home and discovered some unknown person broke the front door to her home without permission while the home was left unattended between 7:15pm and 10:40pm Saturday night. Corpus Christi Police Officers made sure no person was inside and then the 27-year-old woman told Officers her game console was missing. No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.

A 58-year-old man reported a burglary at his home at the 700 block of Harmon Street Monday morning to the Corpus Christi Police. Corpus Christi Police responded to a fight at the 700 block of South Port Avenue at 4:25am and found an injured 26-year-old man. Witnesses told Officers that the 26-year-old man leaped over a fence, fell, and struck his head on a brick that laid on the ground. The witnesses directed Officers to a 58-year-old man on the 700 block of Harmon and the 58-year-old man told Officers the 26-year-old man had just committed a burglary at his home. The 58-year-old man told Officers he heard a noise in his living room and went to investigate. The 58-year-old man told Officers he discovered his television missing, so he went outside to look around. The 58-year-old man told Officers he saw 26-year-old Lupe Sanchez (1/2/1987) with his television and he confronted Sanchez. The 58-year-old man told Officers Sanchez dropped the television and then fought with the 58-year-old man, and then stole the wallet from the 58-year-old man. Witnesses told Officers Sanchez then jumped the fence and injured himself. The wallet and television were returned to the 58-year-old man. Sanchez was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries and then arrested for burglary of a habitation and for robbery. Sanchez was then delivered to the city detention center.

Offenses: Driving While intoxicated (P.C. 49.04), Evading Arrest (P.C. 38.04) and Criminal Mischief (P.C. 28.03)

On December 13, 2013 off duty officers from another jurisdiction were following a vehicle that appeared to have an intoxicated driver. The suspect vehicle stopped in the area of 2000 Treyway. CCPD officers attempted to make contact with the driver. The suspect driver got back into his vehicle and fled the scene. Officers attempted to catch up to the driver who was driving erratically. The suspect drove through a park, striking a fence and began dragging about 100′ of chain link fence behind his vehicle . A CCPD supervisor called off the pursuit. The suspect vehicle continued until it was involved in a three car accident at Curtis Clark and South Staples. The suspect was ejected from his vehicle. The suspect and a accident victim were transported to area hospitals. Their condition is unknown at this time. If the suspect, who is a 24 year old male, is released from the hospital he will be booked into CDC. The incident is still being investigated by Follow Up Investigators at this time.

Search Warrants Served on Two Sabinas Street Homes

Narcotics/Vice Investigations Division officers, Gang Unit Officers and the S.W.A.T. team assisted the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives with the serving of a search warrant at 2913 Sabinas Street.

A search of the home netted a seizure of $5,937 cash,   4.82 grams of black tar Heroin with a value of $482.00, .98 grams of powder Heroin with a street value of $50, and 5 grams of synthetic Marijuana with a street value of $50.00.

A 27-year-old man was arrested by  the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.  Tyler Matthew Haas (12/21/90) along with Charles Lee Slade Jr. (11/12/81)  and Christine Gustin Hailey (05/24/89) were also arrested.  Haas was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Slade and Hailey who arrived  in a stolen vehicle to purchase some Heroin were  charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.  The charges are State Jail Felonies punishable by up to two years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

Narcotics Vice Investigations Division Officers served a search warrant at 2933 Sabinas. A search of the residence netted a seizure of 16 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $800.00. Officers also seized $864.00 cash.

Jeremy Juan Velasquez (01/14/92) was present at the residence and arrested.  He was charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance which is a First Degree Felony punishable by up to 99 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a single vehicle crash at the Stevens Water Plant Friday morning. Corpus Christi Police were notified of a vehicle submerged in the water at the facility, but the person who called was unwilling or unable to meet with Officers at the crash scene. Officers discovered a red 2008 Ford F-150 pickup truck negotiated a turn at the 13100 block of Hearn, but left the roadway and crashed through the fence, and then came to stop in the water at the facility. Corpus Christi Police notified the water department and have summoned additional resources to recover the vehicle.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 26-year-old Christopher Schibi (11/11/1986) at his home on the 3800 block of Cassowary for a warrant for his arrest for Accident Involving Injury or Death related to a crash on September 15, 2013. A 23-year-old woman reported to Corpus Christi Police she was stopped at a red light at Nile and South Padre Island Drive in her black 2008 Toyota Highlander at 2:00am on September 15, 2013, when she was struck from behind by a black 2007 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Schibi. The 23-year-old woman told Officers she did not know Schibi and he left without providing information. The 23-year-old woman got the license plate of the Silverado as it fled. Corpus Christi Police Crash Investigators gathered the information and evidence to obtain a felony arrest warrant for Schibi on December 4, 2013 because of the injury caused to the 23-year-old woman. Schibi was delivered to the city detention center on December 12, 2013.

Corpus Christi Police arrested two people for theft after Officers discovered stolen property from auto burglaries in their vehicle on the 9100 block of South Padre Island Drive Friday morning. A Corpus Christi Police Officer stopped to assist a green 1996 Ford E-150 van which was stopped without the hazard lights flashing in traffic near the exit ramp for Flour Bluff Drive on the Oso Bridge. The Officer spoke to 25-year-old Brittany Snyder (8/26/1988) who was seated in the passenger seat. Snyder told the Officer the vehicle ran out of gas and the driver, 27-year-old Nathan Partney (10/20/1986), left to seek fuel and took the keys with him. The Officer chose to summon a wrecker to recover the vehicle because it was midnight and the van was at a high risk to be struck by vehicles on the freeway. The Officer discovered identification and credit cards which were reported stolen from several area vehicle burglaries. The Officer arrested Snyder and Partney for theft. Snyder was additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia for contraband the Officer discovered and both Snyder and Partney were delivered to the city detention center.

A 45-year-old woman reported her gray 2000 Nissan Sentra stolen from a school parking lot Wednesday to the Corpus Christi Police. The 45-year-old woman told Officers that her son drove the Sentra to school and lost the key. The 45-year-old woman told Officers when she went to the school to deliver a second key, she discovered the vehicle was gone and taken by someone without permission. The  vehicle has not been found.

A 27-year-old woman reported a burglary to her vehicle Wednesday to the Corpus Christi Police at an apartment complex parking lot located at 6533 Patti Drive. The 27-year-old woman told Officers some unknown person entered her vehicle while it was parked and unattended for about twelve hours and the person took her purse, a pistol and ammunition from inside the vehicle. The investigating Officers recorded no indication of any forced entry into the vehicle.

A 54-year-old man reported several weapons stolen from his home located at 1010 Behmann Street to Corpus Christi Police Wednesday. The 54-year-old man told Officers he left his home unattended from about 6am until about 9:30pm and discovered his three pistols, a rifle, and a shotgun missing from his home when he returned. The 54-year-old man told Officers he suspects a person he knows may have entered his home without permission and stole the weapons. No arrests have been made and the weapons which have a value of about $6,000 dollars have not been recovered.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 34-year-old Mario Martinez (10/24/1979) for theft at 6101 Saratoga Boulevard Wednesday. Corpus Christi Police responded to a shoplifting complaint at 3:30pm. A 21-year-old store employee reported to Corpus Christi Police that a man filled a backpack with merchandise and ran out of the store and provided a description of the suspect. A Corpus Christi Police Officer found Martinez nearby and discovered evidence of the crime. The Officer arrested Martinez for theft, returned the merchandise to the store, and delivered Martinez to the city detention center.

A 43-year-old man reported a burglary to a pharmacy located at 4501 Ayers Street Wednesday. The Corpus Christi Police responded to a burglary alarm at 4:38am and discovered the front glass door was broken. Corpus Christi Police Officers made sure no person was inside and waited for an employee to arrive. The 43-year-old man arrived and identified himself as an employee to Officers. The 43-year-old man reported medication and cigarettes taken, but would require an inventory conducted to determine the exact loss.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 34-year-old Jose Contreras (11/21/1979) for Assault on a Peace Officer, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a felon, Resisting Arrest, Fail to identify as a Fugitive from Justice, several warrants for his arrest, and theft at a store located at 609 South Staples Street Wednesday. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a theft in progress at 9:55am. A 26-year-old employee told Officers that 25-year-old Amber Perez (12/25/1987) put merchandise in a bag in an effort to conceal and steal the items valued at about $20 dollars while Contreras provided a distraction. Officers arrested Perez for theft and then Contreras fought with Officers. Two Corpus Christi Police Officers were taken to the hospital for treatment for injuries as a result of the fight and Contreras was delivered to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police arrested three men for a burglary of a vehicle at a store located at 3829 Highway 77 Tuesday. A 36-year-old man reported a burglary to his company truck at 1:45pm. The 36-year-old man told Officers he left the vehicle parked and unattended for about 15 minutes, and when he returned to the truck, a woman waited by his truck who told him she saw several men take tools from his truck. Corpus Christi Police Officers announced the suspect’s description over the radio and within minutes, Deputies from the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office had located the suspects. An investigating Officer went to the Deputies location and arrested 30-year-old Daniel Contreras (3/29/1983), 32-year-old Rodolfo Rodriguez (10/22/1981), and Rogelio Campos (1/3/1976) for theft and delivered them to the city detention center. The tools were returned to the 36-year-old man.

Corpus Christi Police arrested two women and a 16-year-old girl for theft at the 6100 block of Saratoga Boulevard Wednesday at about 12:50 in the morning. Corpus Christi Police responded to a shoplifting complaint and were provided a description of the suspects and their vehicle. A Corpus Christi Police Officer stopped a blue 2008 Dodge Avenger which matched the description of the suspect vehicle and discovered evidence of the crime. The Officer arrested 22-year-old Melanie Garcia (7/19/1991), 21-year-old Mary Amador (7/19/1991) and a 16-year-old girl for the theft. The Officer found three other passengers, a 16-year-old boy, another 16-year-old girl, and a 2-year-old boy, in the vehicle and they were released to a responsible adult who was summoned to the scene. Garcia and Amador were additionally cited for inducing curfew and delivered to the city detention center. The 16-year-old girl responsible for the theft was delivered to the Nueces County Juvenile Detention Center. The Officer then impounded the vehicle.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer was flagged down Tuesday by a store employee at a shopping center located at 5858 South Padre Island Drive to investigate a possible shoplifting suspect. The Officer contacted the suspect, 24-year-old Joe Lugo (10/5/1989) and discovered contraband. Lugo then ran from the officer toward McArdle. The Officer caught Lugo and then delivered Lugo to the city detention center for the charges of possession of synthetic marijuana and evading arrest.

A 23-year-old man reported a robbery at a restaurant located at 4126 Staples Street to the Corpus Christi Police Wednesday morning. The 23-year-old man told Officers a man went into the restaurant, displayed a handgun, and demanded money from the register. No injuries were reported and the 23-year-old man told Officers the suspect left with money from the restaurant and ran to the apartment complex located at 802 Berry Street. No arrests have been made. The 23-year-old man described the suspect to the Officers as a man who wore a red shirt underneath a dark blue sweat shirt with a hood, black warm-up pants with a white stripe on the outside of each leg, black tennis shoes, black and white gloves, and his face was covered with a mask.

Three Men Charged in Theft of $6,200 in Power Tools

Corpus Christi Police with the assistance of a Nueces County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Officer captured and arrested three men involved in the theft of two power tools valued at $6,200.

Rodolfo Rodriguez (10/22/81), Daniel Omar Contreras Jr. (03/29/83), and Rogelio Lopez Campos (01/03/76) were observed by an unidentified witness enter a truck and take the items.  The witness waited for the owner to return to his vehicle and provided him with a license plate of the suspect vehicle.

The suspect vehicle registration returned out of Robstown and a nearby Nueces County Sheriff’s Officer located the vehicle parked by the front gate of Starry Pawn Shop, 1600 Hwy 44.

The stolen items were recovered and the men arrested.  All three men were charged with Theft~All Other Thefts which is a State Jail Felony punishable by two years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

Our thanks to the unidentified witness, the Nueces County Sheriff’s K-9 Officer, and our Adam District Patrol Officers, whose combined efforts helped capture these three suspects and recover the victim’s stolen property.

Cigarette Bandits Identity Sought

Corpus Christi Police Detectives are asking the public’s assistance in identifying two individuals involved in the burglary of Wencar, Incorporated on November 29, 2013.

The two men can be seen on video surveillance cameras filling up two bags with cartons of cigarettes.  It is estimated over $25,000 worth of cigarette cartons were stolen by the two men.
