A 47-year-old man reported a burglary to the Corpus Christi Police Tuesday which happened at 6741 Leopard Street. The 47-year-old man told Officers an unknown man cut holes in the fence to the business while no person was present and entered the property. The 47-year-old man told Officers he estimated the cost of repairs to be about $500 dollars. The 47-year-old man described the suspect as a male who wore a black jumpsuit, a white bandana to cover his face, and sunshades.

An 81-year-old woman reported a burglary to her business to the Corpus Christi Police Tuesday which happened at 1105 Airline Road. The 81-year-old woman told Officers an unknown person broke the back door to her business while no person was inside the building and took some hair products without permission.

A 43-year-old woman reported a burglary to her business to the Corpus Christi Police Monday night which happened at 817 Everhart Road. The 43-year-old woman told Officers an unknown man broke the back door to the business while no person was inside the building and went through a cash register without permission. The 43-year-old woman described the suspect as a male who wore a hoodie blue jeans, gloves, and a hat.

A 35-year-old man reported a burglary to his vehicle Tuesday which happened at 5133 Flynn Parkway. The 35-year-old man told Officers some unknown person broke a window to his black 2013 GMC Yukon while it was parked and unattended overnight and took about $3,400 dollars worth of property from inside the vehicle without permission.

Case Number: 1311260140

Corpus Christi Police arrested 20-year-old Sergio Torres (8/13/1993) for stealing beer from a store and for a warrant for his arrest for theft at the 3300 block of Baldwin Boulevard Tuesday night. A 19-year-old man called a complaint of theft from a store to the Corpus Christi Police and provided a description of the suspect. A Corpus Christi Police Officer saw Torres, who matched the description of the suspect, on the 3100 block of Morgan Avenue. The Officer stopped Torres and discovered he had a warrant for his arrest for theft. The Officer discovered evidence of the theft from the store and Torres was also arrested for the theft from the store and then delivered to the city detention center.

Help Locate Missing North Carolina Teens

Corpus Christi Police are assisting the Edenton Police Department in locating missing 19-year-old Robert Lee Bunch aka Rob Bunch.  Bunch is in the company of a 16-year-old friend, Nicholas Beaman aka Nick Beaman and headed to our city.

Both teens are in a black 2002 Hyundai with North Carolina license plates.  At this time, the Edenton Police Department believes there is no foul play involved, but the parents are very concerned for their safety.   The young men’s family would like them home for the Thanksgiving Holidays.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a vehicle crash with a school bus at the 2700 block of Morrow Drive Monday afternoon. There were 26 students on board when the bus struck a parked car and no injuries were reported.

Corpus Christi Police took two juveniles into custody for burglary of a habitation Monday at the 15200 block of Isabella Court. Corpus Christi Police responded to a call for a burglary in progress at 12:36pm. Officers went inside the home and found two boys ages 12 and 13 who were in the house without permission attempting to commit theft. Corpus Christi Police delivered the two boys to the Nueces County Juvenile Detention Center and dropped off the bikes the boys left in the front yard to the parents.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 28-year-old Frank Benavidez (12/4/1984) for unlawfully carrying a weapon at 5997 Williams Drive Monday. A restaurant employee complained to the Corpus Christi Police that Benavidez displayed and manipulated a pistol while in the business. Officers confronted Benavidez and found him in possession of a pistol that was reported lost in Portland, Texas. Benavidez does not have a concealed handgun license and Officers delivered Benavidez to the city detention center.

Offense: Aggravated Robbery (Penal Code Section 29.03) 1st Degree Felony

Case Number: 1311250132

Two men suffered gunshot wounds after a robbery at a home on the 3500 block of Lariat Lane Monday night. Officers reported the men had injuries that were not considered life threatening. A 29-year-old man told Officers he went to the front door to his home to meet a man he knows in order to sell some property. The 29-year-old man told Officers the man he met took the property by force and discharged a firearm several times which struck the 29-year-old man and another 53-year-old man in the house. The 29-year-old man described the suspect to Officers as a black male in his early 20’s in age, 6 feet 3 inches tall, about 220 pounds and has short faded hair. The 29-year-old man told Officers there was a second man and a woman who were with the suspect at the time of this event. Detectives continue to gather and validate information and evidence in this case.

A 65-year-old woman reported a robbery to the Corpus Christi Police Monday at 5488 South Padre Island Drive. The 65-year-old woman told Officers she walked in the parking lot and a man in a black Chrysler 300 leaned out the back passenger window and grabbed her purse. The 65-year-old woman told Officers she held on to her purse and the man got out of the car and then punched her several times in the face. The 65-year-old woman told Officers she fell to the ground and the man took her purse and left. The 65-year-old woman described the suspect to Officers as a Hispanic male about 20 years in age, 5 feet 10 inches tall, and about 150 pounds.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 22-year-old Kala Adcox (3/17/1991) at her residence at 625 Gordon Street for a warrant for her arrest which originated from a robbery on November 16, 2013 at 1813 South Padre Island Drive. Corpus Christi Police investigated a purse snatching complaint from a 52-year-old woman. Corpus Christi Police Detectives developed information to obtain a warrant for arrest of Adcox. Adcox was delivered to the city detention center.

Wanted Man Turns Himself In

Event:  Intoxicated Assault

RyantEdgeorgeConnellyOfficers responded to an accident in the 1300 block of IH 37 SB involving a gray Audi and a blue Toyota Cruiser.  The driver of the Audi, Ryant Edgeorge Connelly (07/13/92) was traveling northbound in the southbound lane of travel. The Audi struck the Cruiser head-on.  Both Connelly and the 47-year-old woman driver of the Toyota were taken to Spohn Memorial with serious injuries.

Connelly was released at the hospital due to his injuries, but a Blood Warrant was obtained and a Blood Specimen taken from Connelly.

On Friday, November 22, 2013, Traffic Safety Investigator Marc Harrod was able to obtain a warrant for Connelly when the toxicology report results were received.

On November 25, 2013, at 11:31am, Connelly turned himself in to the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office Jail Facilities.  Connelly was charged with the outstanding warrant for Intoxicated Assault with a Vehicle ~ Severe Body Injury, a 3rd Degree Felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.   His bond was set at $30,000.

Event: Vehicle Crash with a Pedestrian

Corpus Christi Police responded to a vehicle crash at the 1700 block of North Tancahua Street Saturday night in which two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle. A 22-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman  crossed the road outside of a cross walk in front of a brown 2000 Dodge Durango operated by a 47-year-old man. The two pedestrians were taken by ambulance to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No citations were issued.

Corpus Christi Police arrested two men for burglary of a vehicle Saturday morning at the 8400 block of Macarena Drive. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a vehicle burglary at about 4:00am Saturday morning. Officers saw the suspect vehicle leaving the area and conducted a traffic stop. Officers discovered evidence from the burglary and arrested 37-year-old Gary Rosalis (6/10/1976) and 38-year-old Justin Hill (12/11/1974). Officers impounded the suspect’s vehicle and delivered Hill and Rosalis to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 19-year-old John Fernandez (12/1/1993) for theft Saturday at a shopping center on South Padre Island Drive. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a shoplifter at the mall and arrested Fernandez for theft after he had left the store with clothes without any effort to pay for the merchandise. Officers discovered Fernandez had several electronics which were stolen from two different locations and had not yet been reported. Fernandez was delivered to the city detention center, the electronics were placed in evidence lockers, and investigations to the additional thefts continue.

Corpus Christi Police investigated an aggravated assault after a 32-year-old man suffered several gunshot wounds Sunday morning at 3241 Reid Drive. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of gunshots at 3241 Reid Drive at about 7:00am Sunday. Officers were then alerted that a 32-year-old man walked in to Doctor’s Regional Hospital with gunshot wounds and had non-life threatening injuries. Corpus Christi Police Detectives interviewed several witnesses and gathered physical evidence but no arrest has yet been made.

Help Needed to Identify Auto Burglar

Corpus Christi Police Detectives are asking the public’s assistance to help identify a man who burglarized a brown Ford Expedition in the Heritage Baptist Church parking lot.   A firearm was taken from the victim’s vehicle.

Robstown Man Wanted in Theft

Rojas, AlbertThe Nueces County Sheriff’s Department and the Corpus Christi Police Department are asking the public’s assistance to locate a wanted man.

Albert Norman Rojas Jr. (05/28/77) is wanted for the theft of a generator.  The theft is a State Jail Felony which is punishable by up to two years in jail and a $10,000 fine.  His bond is set at $30,000.

The action is based on probable cause for existing code violations which could result in potential health threats that could not be properly assessed from the street.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 17-year-old Danielle Logan (2/12/1996) on the 2200 block of Lombardy Drive Thursday for a warrant for her arrest. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle at 7:17am and found Logan inside the vehicle. The Officers discovered Logan had a warrant for her arrest for a burglary charge and Logan was arrested and then delivered to the city detention center.

Event: Traffic Control (Transportation Code Section 542.501)

Corpus Christi Police redirected traffic away from a hazard in the roadway at Park Road 22 and State Highway 361 Friday morning. Two Corpus Christi Police Officers effected an arrest at about 2:13am and heard several explosive noises in the area. The Officers discovered an electrical line fell into the roadway and several electrical transformers were damaged. Electrical professionals arrived to repair the damage and the roadway was reopened to normal use. Officers do not believe the damage was the result of criminal action.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated (Penal Code Section 49.04) Class B Misdemeanor

Corpus Christi Police arrested 26-year-old Richard Rodriguez (11/24/1986) for Driving While Intoxicated on Morgan Avenue at 11th Street Thursday night.

As of November 20, 2013, the Corpus Christi Police Department arrested 1066 people for Driving While Intoxicated which passes the total quantity of arrests for the same offense in 2012 which totaled 1036. The Corpus Christi Police Traffic Safety Section reported 124 felony cases of Driving While Intoxicated this year as of November 20, 2013 which is broken down as: 79 arrests for D.W.I. with 2 or more prior convictions; 25 arrests for Intoxicated Assault; 18 arrests for D.W.I. with a child passenger; and 2 Intoxicated Manslaughter cases. Corpus Christi Police collected blood or breath specimens in all arrests for Driving While Intoxicated except 6 in 2013. The average breath or blood results as of November 20, 2013 from suspects had a blood/alcohol concentration of .17 which is more than twice the legal limit of .08. The Corpus Christi Police arrested 360 drivers for Driving While Intoxicated who were involved in crashes this year up to November 20, 2013. The Corpus Christi Police will have additional Officers for D.W.I. enforcement this holiday season and remind the public to choose a sober operator before drinking alcoholic beverages.

Aggravated Assault Update

Event:  Aggravated Assault (P.C. 22.02) 2nd Degree Felony

Officers responded to 6425 SPID at Club Cheetah’s for an assault with injuries. Arriving officers observed the victim unconscious on the ground in front of the business. The victim stopped breathing and officers immediately began CPR until CCFD medics arrived. The victim was transported to Bay Area Medical Center.

Witnesses advised that there was a disturbance inside the club and all that were involved were asked to leave. The disturbance continued in the parking lot. The victim was punched in the head causing him to fall to the ground, knocking him unconscious. The suspects fled the scene before officers arrived. Detectives are following up on all possible leads in this case. The victim was later transported to MMC.

Officers E. Garza and M. Garanzuay went to 5725 Curtis Clark in reference to an arrest warrant for the aggravated assault at Club Cheetah’s. Officers contacted the resident and were given consent to search the home. Mark Booker (08/08/70) was found hiding in a closet under a pile of clothes. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the City Detention Center.

Case Update:

On 11-06-13, Jeffry Schexnider, (5-14-68), was punched outside the Cheetah’s nightclub, 6425 S. Padre Island Dr., and went unconscious after hitting his head on the pavement.  That night, after evaluating his severe head injury, he was flown by Haloflight to a Hospital in San Antonio.  Detectives investigating the case and were able to identify the offender as Mark Austin Booker, DOB: 8-8-70.  He was arrested in connection with this case on 11-07-13.  He remains in custody on a charge of Aggravated Assault, bond $100,000.

Today, November 21, 2013, Detectives were advised that Mr. Schexnider died from his injuries.

The investigating Detective will be consulting with the District Attorney’s office to discuss upgrading the current charge of Aggravated Assault to Murder.

This is the 15th criminal homicide for 2013.

A 26-year-old woman reported to Corpus Christi Police that some unknown person entered her home on the 3300 block of Celon Drive without permission while she was at the home Wednesday. The 26-year-old woman told Officers she was in the home alone when she happened to see a man she does not know inside her living room by the front door. The 26-year-old woman told Officers she screamed and the man left the home without having taken anything or caused any injury. The 26-year-old woman described the man to Officers as a white male about 20 years in age, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, about 170 pounds, with brown hair and wore a black hoodie and jeans.

Offense: Endangering a Child (Penal Code Section 22.041) State Jail Felony

Corpus Christi Police arrested 26-year-old Ashlee Allan (8/23/1987) for Child Endangerment after she drove a maroon 2004 Ford Taurus on the 400 block of Everhart with a 3-year-old on her lap while she evaded arrest or detention from the Corpus Christi Police. A Corpus Christi Police Officer saw Allan drive with the 3-year-old child on her lap at 10:13pm. The Officer initiated a traffic stop, but Allan drove away as the Officer walked up to her car. The Officer followed Allan for about five minutes until Allan stopped the vehicle. The Officer discovered a second child about 2 years of age in the back seat and then arrested Allan for Evading Arrest in a vehicle. Allan was issued a citation for the unrestrained child and then a charge was added for Child Endangerment after consideration for the circumstances in which the children were subjected.

A 52-year-old man reported a burglary at an automotive shop on WOW Road to the Corpus Christi Police Thursday. The 52-year-old man said he responded to an alarm at his business and discovered someone tore through a wall to enter the garage and pry open a tool box to gather money inside the toolbox.

A 61-year-old woman reported a burglary to her home at the 2500 block of Soledad Street to Corpus Christi Police Wednesday. Corpus Christi Police responded to an alarm at
3:55pm and discovered a broken window. Officers found no suspects inside the home and the 61-year-old home owner arrived and reported her television missing.
