Cole Park Skate Park Vandalized, Two Vandals Arrested

Occurred 9/18/11, 05:54 a.m.  Graffiti Arrests   Cole Park Skate Park     1109180048 

Officers responded to the Cole Park Skate Park for vandals spray painting graffiti in the bowl of the skate park.  Upon their arrival, Officers two males had fled towards Oleander Park.  John Sanchez (09/03/93) and Nicholas Rodriquez (02/21/92) were captured, but a third suspect was able to escape.  A witness reported to Officers he observed the suspects exit from a blue Mustang, walk towards the skate park armed with a black backpack.  One of the suspects was observed to be carrying a spray can. The backpack was found by Officers and found to be filled with spray cans.  Both Sanchez and Rodriguez denied knowing the owner of the Mustang, but Officers contacted the registered owner who told them her son had left in the Mustang accompanied by both Sanchez and Rodriguez.  Sanchez and Rodriguez were both arrested and booked at the CDC.  They were both charged with Graffiti ~ Pecuniary Loss less than $20,000 which is a State Jail Felony.  The blue Mustang was released to the owner

Officers Apprehend Two Burglars At Yeager Elementary

Occurred 9/19/11, 03:13 a.m.   Burglary of a Building   5414 Tripoli     1109190024 

Officers responded to Yeager Elementary for an alarm.  Upon their arrival, Officers heard a loud noise towards the back area of the school.   Officers apprehend and detained Devin Joel Bazan (03/29/93) and his 14-year-old Hispanic female accomplice.  Further investigation revealed the two had entered the school through an unlocked door and taken a rolling computer chair and a hand-held grabber.  Both items were thrown down from the second floor to the first floor making the loud noise Officers heard as they arrived.  Both suspects smelled of an alcoholic beverage and appeared to be intoxicated.  Bazan was arrested and booked at the CDC.  He was charged with Burglary of a Building, Consume of Alcoholic by a Minor, Criminal Trespass, and Inducing Curfew.    The 14-year-old female was released to her mother, but charges are pending for Burglary of a Building, Consume of Alcohol by a Minor, Criminal Trespass, and Violating Curfew.  The stolen property was found outside the fenced area and returned to maintenance staff.

Girlfriend Arrested After Holding Boyfriend At Knifepoint

Occurred 9/19, 12:30 a.m.   Aggravated Assault   901 Kinney     1109190007 

Officers contacted the 44-year-old Hispanic male who reported he was stabbed by his girlfriend Amy Wilson (11/25/81) after an argument over their children and her choice of friends.  Wilson grabbed a kitchen knife and held it to the victim’s throat.  The victim was able to take the knife away and Wilson fled the residence.    Officers located Wilson nearby and placed her under arrest.  She was transported and booked at the CDC.  Wilson was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.  The victim sustained a minor cut and checked by CCFD Emergency Personnel.  The kitchen knife was recovered and tagged as evidence.

The Auto Theft Task Force needs assistance in identifying the Hispanic male and Hispanic female wanted in connection with an auto burglary that occurred on 9-11-11 at a local nightclub parking lot, 5800 S. Staples St.  The offenders are shown here using a Lone Star card stolen in the auto burglary.

The hispanic male is medium build dark complected wearing a dark t-shirt, black shorts and white tennis shoes.

The female is wearing a green t-shirt, jeans and white tennis shoes.

Police are looking to identify two subjects, who went on theft spree at Sears Dept. store on September 1st at 6:45 p.m. As you can see in the video the first subject goes throughout the store and loads up the cart with several appliances and male grooming items. He then places the cart right by the main entrance of the store and leaves. A few seconds later the second subject walks into the store and rolls the cart right out into the mall without paying for the items. Both subjects leave the mall and are seen by store employees loading up the loot into a truck. They then fled the area.

The first subject is described as a heavy-set Hispanic male with a short hair cut and a mustache. At the time of the theft he was wearing a dark-colored striped polo shirt, shorts and sandals.

The second individual is described as a black male who appears to be bald at the time of the theft. He was wearing a green polo shirt, jeans and white tennis shoes.

Nabbed Fugitive Gets Rowdy

3:01 a.m./09.16.11   3100 Elgin   Poss. Cont. Sub., Resisting Arrest, Failed to ID, & Warrant   1109160020

While officers were watching a suspected drug house they observed a vehicle drive up, make a transaction and then quickly drive off. After following the vehicle a short distance they observed the vehicle commit a traffic violation therefore they pulled the car over. Upon doing so they contacted both the driver and the passenger of the vehicle. The female passenger gave officers an incorrect name, as officers continued to question her they discovered her real name was Crystal Hall (9.21.72) and that she had a warrant for her arrest. Subsequently she was placed under arrest. During the arrest they located six baggies of Crack Cocaine in her possession therefore she was additionally charged.

As she was being transported to the City Detention Center, Crystal became belligerent and attempted to pull away and kick at the officers.

The driver of the vehicle was citied and released.

Narcotics/Vice Execute Search Warrant

5:45pm/9.15.2011    1610 Mestina    Poss of Controlled Substance/Poss of Marijuana    1109150092

Narcotics Officers executed a search warrant @ 1610 Mestina (one block from City Hall). During the search Officers recovered a quantity of crack cocaine, powder cocaine and $1432 in US Currency.

Arrested at the scene were Sylvia Firo (4.13.78), Richard Hernandez (8.10.78) and Frank Martinez (5.8.87)

Investigators with the Auto Theft Task Force are looking to identify the two subjects that stole an individual’s truck, and also used the same individuals Credit Card at a local gaming store.

The incident occurred on August 21st , when the two subjects seen in the video stole a vehicle, which was later recovered stripped. However, it appears they located the victims’ credit card, in the vehicle, and went on a shopping spree where they were caught on video. The first suspect is a Hispanic male, wearing a red shirt and jeans. The second suspect is wearing a white cap,  a dark-colored striped shirt and jeans.

Major Accident/Fatality 10430 Haven – Update

 On 9/13/2011 at 8:03 a.m., police received a call for a major accident involving a fatality in the 10400 Blk. of Haven (near Tuloso Midway H.S.). When Officers arrived, they learned that a female driving eastbound on Haven lost control of her 2002 Green Chevy Trailblazer; drove left of center into the westbound lane of Haven and left the roadway.

Upon doing so, she struck a fire hydrant. The vehicle continued eastbound on the sidewalk striking and killing a male pedestrian, Johnny Joe Ramos (28 yoa), who was jogging. The vehicle then continued and struck a light post, where the vehicle then came to a stop.

The driver of the Trailblazer, Yolanda Joseph (49 yoa), was pinned inside of her vehicle due to the damage caused by the impact. She was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

Fatality investigators continue to gather evidence in an attempt to recreate the accident scene.

“I Give Up” – Stolen Vehicle Recovered

7:20 p.m./9.14.2011   5633 Agnes   Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (UUMV – Stolen car)   1109130003

While traveling down Agnes, a friend of a victim of UUMV spotted the stolen Hyundai Santa Fe at an adult video store with a female in the driver’s seat. They called Police who sent out two units to the location. Prior to the units arriving, the vehicle left the location and turned onto the 100 block of Villa. The Officer saw the vehicle, confirmed that it was stolen with the dispatch center, and turned on his overhead lights to make a traffic stop.

The driver of the vehicle, Dovetta Langston (1.24.1963), stopped,  got out of the stolen vehicle, said “I give up” and walked towards the Police unit where she was taken into custody for UUMV. She was transported to the City Detention Center.

The vehicle was impounded for Auto Theft Detectives and will be released to its owner.
