Date: 10/10/2015       3:55 PM
Location: 700 Airline Road
Offense: Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle
P.C. 31.07   State Jail Felony
Case Number: 1510100120
A female was arrested after she stole a Corpus Christi Police Patrol unit.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were originally dispatched to Airline Road and Lum Street after several witnesses called to report a male and female having a disturbance at the bus stop. An Officer arrived and attempted to contact the couple. When he did, the male ran from him. The Officer was able to catch up to the male as he tried to jump a fence. When he was pulled down off the fence, the male suffered an injury to his arm.

While the Officer was chasing the male, the female, jumped into his marked police car and left. Another Officer arriving at the call, observed the stolen police car traveling on Airline Road toward Ocean Drive with the emergency lights on. That Officer got behind the stolen police unit and attempted to stop it using his emergency lights and sirens.

The female driving the police unit turned onto Ocean Drive, on the wrong side of the road, and traveled a short distance before turning onto private property. The female continued to drive to the back of the property and then exited the patrol car and attempted to run on foot.

Officers were able to catch up to the female, Rachel Vigueria (05/20/1989), a short distance away. The female was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest in vehicle, both felony charges. She was additionally charged with evading arrest on foot, and she had an outstanding warrant for her arrest for probation violation on an original charge for assault.

The police unit did not appear to have any serious damage done to it.

The male that fled on foot from the officer was being treated at Spohn Memorial Hospital and faces possible charges of evading on foot, a Class B misdemeanor.

Officers Take Female Into Custody On Caribou Drive

Date: 10/10/2015       8:45 AM
Location: 7900 Caribou Drive
Case Number: 1510100112

A 51 year old female homeowner called Corpus Christi Police just after 8:45 AM today to report a disturbance at her home located in the 7900 block of Caribou Drive.

The female said that a female friend of hers, who had been staying with her for the past few weeks, had taken her car and a gun from her home just before 2 AM, following an argument. The female homeowner called police at that time, but Officers did not arrive in time and the female had already left.

Officers were called back at 8:45 by the homeowner, who said her friend had returned and was still armed. When Officers approached the residence, the homeowner came outside and told them that her friend was inside her home and armed with a handgun. The homeowner said that her friend had also made threats to commit suicide and shoot police.

Once the homeowner was safely removed from the residence, Officers attempted to talk to the 45 year old female friend. After unsuccessful attempts to get the female to disarm herself and come outside, the Corpus Christi Police Emergency Response Unit consisting of SWAT Officers and HNT Negotiators responded to the scene at 10 AM.

Negotiators outside of the home were able to communicate with the female inside by cell phone, and loud speaker. After nearly 5 hours of talking to the female, she exited the back door of the residence and was taken into custody.

She was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital and will have a mental health evaluation. The female does have an outstanding warrant for her arrest for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle that will be served when she is released.

Patrol Report 10/06/2015

The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to 917 calls for service and generated 233 reports for formal criminal complaints from 7:00 a.m. October 5 to 7:00 a.m. on October 6, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

Date: Tuesday, September 22, 2015, 19:33
Location: State Highway 181 at Belden (Harbor Bridge)
Offense: Intoxicated Manslaughter
Case Number: 1509220149
A man who has been hospitalized since he was involved in a fatal crash on the Harbor Bridge is now in jail.

Corpus Christi Police transported the man, Lionel Guerra (04/11/1968), to the City Detention Center just before 4 PM yesterday after he was released from Spohn Memorial Hospital. He had been getting treatment, under police guard, at the hospital for injuries he sustained in the crash since September 22.

Below is the original post from that crash.

A woman died in a head on collision on the Harbor Bridge Tuesday night.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a vehicle crash on the southbound lanes of the Harbor Bridge at 7:30pm Tuesday night. Officers learned a Chevy Silverado pickup entered the Harbor Bridge in the wrong direction to travel north in the southbound lanes. Officers learned the truck was involved in a head on crash with a Nissan Xterra on the overpass over Belden Street. Officers believe a white Toyota Corolla was also somehow involved in the crash. The woman who operated the Nissan Xterra and the 48-year-old man who operated the Silverado were taken to the hospital for treatment for their injuries. The woman did not survive her injuries and the 48-year-old man is believed to have non-life threatening injuries. Officers believe the 29-year-old man who operated the Corolla suffered minor injuries.

Officers uncovered information that leads them to believe that the 48-year-old man who operated the Silverado had consumed alcohol and an investigation began to determine if the 48-year-old man was intoxicated. The 48-year-old man was admitted to the hospital for treatment. If Officers believe that it is more likely than not that the 48-year-old man was intoxicated, then the 48-year-old man will be accused of intoxicated manslaughter.
