The Corpus Christi Police SWAT assisted Financial Crimes Detectives from the Police Criminal Investigations Unit with a search warrant at 4837 Williams Drive early Thursday morning.

A search warrant for the home was obtained after detectives received information that a counterfeiting operation was using the location.

SWAT officers secured the scene and handed over the home to detectives investigating the case.

Inside the home officers found two females and a male. The male suspect inside, Johnny Valle (08/23/1982) was determined to have an outstanding arrest warrant for probation violation.

Detectives recovered drug paraphernalia and a set of blank check stock inside the home. Other items seized inside the home included prescription pills, bags for packaging narcotics, several pipes, and a scale.  Detectives will also be investigating a security camera system, and computers found at the location.

The male suspect was arrested for the outstanding warrant.  The two females were identified and released.

Corpus Christi Police Officers have been working on an overtime basis through a grant provided by the Texas Department of Transportation to enforce the states seat belt laws.

As of May 20,

130  citations have been issued to drivers and passengers without seat belts on.

18  citations have been issued to drivers for children in the vehicle not in car safety seats.

38  citations have been issued  to drivers for other violations such as expired vehicle registration or inspection or for no liability insurance.

The Click It or Ticket campaign started May 18 and continues through May 31.

On 5/19/15 The Narcotics Vice Investigations Division and Directed Patrol Officers of the Corpus Christi Police Department, in conjunction with Special Agents from Homeland Security Investigations, conducted an operation focused on several local massage parlors. The operation was a result of an increase in citizen complaints directed at the massage parlors for engaging in illegal activity. This was a two part operation which involved regulatory inspections and had the following results:

Senior Officer Amador Gonzalez has been nominated and will attend the 22nd Annual National Association of Police Organizations’ TOP COP Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday May 12, 2015.

On March 20, 2014, Senior Officer Amador Gonzalez was responding to assist a fellow officer who was attempting to make contact with a person who fit the description of a prowler. As Officer Gonzalez was arriving on scene, he observed the suspect pull out a gun and begin firing at him and Officer S. Goodman. Seconds later, he witnessed the other officer go down after being hit in the neck and leg. Officer Gonzalez immediately returned fire, wounding the suspect in the chest. The suspect then got into one of the patrol vehicles and attempted to flee the scene. In his attempt to evade capture, the suspect struck a telephone pole and was apprehended. Despite being wounded, Officer Gonzalez rushed to the aid of his fellow officer who was severely bleeding and applied a tourniquet. Officer Gonzalez, who was also wounded, tended to his own injuries until help could arrive. Officer Gonzalez’ selfless service, helped to save the life of a fellow officer. Officer Gonzalez was awarded the Police Medal of Honor by the Corpus Christi Police Department for displaying exceptional bravery while facing imminent risk of serious bodily injury and the Police Shield for sustaining injury.

Update on Case Number 1505090011 / P.C. 19.02 Murder

Location:1100 25th Street

Corpus Christi Police Detectives made an arrest early this afternoon for the deadly shooting that occurred just before 1 AM in the 1100 block of 25th Street.  After interviewing witnesses, it was determined that a resident from an apartment complex located at 1114 25th Street confronted a 34-year-old man in the parking lot who was reportedly breaking into a car.  The car belonged to the resident’s neighbor.  The resident had himself been a vicitm of an auto burglary several days ago. The resident threatened the man with a gun.  The burglar took off running toward the 1100 block of 25th Street and the resident shot him.  The victim was shot one time in the back, and later died at Spohn Memorial Hospital.  After the shooting, the resident went inside his apartment and did not contact officers who responded to the call.  Several hours later, detectives did contact the resident and arrested him.  A revolver, believed to be the weapon used, was recovered.     Jesus Angel Gonzales (02/16/1993) was arrested for murder, and he was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance when narcotics were found in a pair of pants that detectives believe he was wearing at the time of the shooting.  

Funeral services to honor Corpus Christi Police Chief Floyd Simpson have been scheduled.
