Warrant Issued for Suspect Exposing Himself

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for a suspect they believe exposed himself to children in the 6100 block of Ayers Street.

Detectives have identified the suspect as, Timothy Headley (05/09/1990). The suspect now has a warrant for Indecency With a Child by Exposure. He is 5’10” tall and weighs 160 pounds. He has brown hair, sometimes worn in a ponytail, and brown eyes.

Anyone who knows where police can located this wanted person or has any additional information about the crime, should call the Corpus Christi Police Detectives at 886-2840. A 24 year old female victim fought off an attack from a man in the parking lot of a south side nightclub.

The female told officers that she was walking to her truck after separating from her friends in the parking lot of a club located at 5702 South Staples Street.

Once at her truck, a male suspect grabbed her from behind and shoved her into her truck. The victim said he ripped her shirt as she fought him off. She continued to fight the male and was able to get away from him.

She was able to drive away from the scene and call police.

The victim was treated at Doctors Regional Hospital for her injuries.

She did not know the male but saw that he was wearing a button up shirt, blue jeans, and boots with a khaki visor or hat.

Officers continue to investigate this crime. At this time no suspects have been arrested.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol ran a license plate on a vehicle that he saw in the 4900 block of Greenwood Drive and found it be stolen.

The officer was able to stop the  stolen 2009 GMC truck and take the driver, Andrew Brunkenhoeffer (12/06/1979),  into custody. 

He was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a state jail felony, and he was additionally charged with possession of a firearm, a Class A misdemeanor when a revolver was found in the truck.

The truck had been reported stolen from a home located in the 800 block of Ester Drive on April 17.

Man Dies Of Gunshot Wound

Corpus Christi Police responded to a shooting in the 1100 block of 25th Street just before 1:00 AM. 

When they arrived they found a 34 year old male victim in the middle of 25th Street just a few feet south of Buford Street.  The victim had  a single gunshot wound to his back. 

CCFD EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to Spohn Memorial Hospital.  A few hours later the victim was pronounced dead. 

At this time Corpus Christi Police Homicide Detectives  are speaking to  witnesses that heard the shots fired, however, no suspect, and no weapon has been recovered.

Corpus Christi Police were dispatched to a disturbance between a son and his father at a home located in the 4200 block of Molina Drive.

When officers arrived , the 44 year old father, told officers that his son got into a confrontation with him and a 23 year old man staying at their home.  He said that a verbal altercation escalated between the three and during the disturbance his son tried to stab the other two with a knife.

The son then fled the area on foot prior to police arrival.

A short time later, other officers were able to locate the son at the intersection of Horne Road and Old Brownsville Road. The son, Antonio Villarreal (06/29/1994), was arrested for aggravated assault.  The suspect was also found to have two outstanding warrants for his arrests on drug related charges.

The father and the other man involved in the disturbance with the suspect were not injured.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a crash involving a drunk driver and four parked cars.

Officers arrived at the crash scene and found that the suspect was driving a 2006 Chevrolet truck south in the 3200 block of Sonoma Street when it struck a parked 2005 Jeep Liberty from behind.  The truck pushed the Jeep down the street several feet until it was pushed it into a vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a home located at 3205 Somona Street.

The truck attempted to speed off, but struck another parked vehicle and a light pole in front of 3209 Somona Street. That vehicle, a 2014 Dodge Charger, was then pushed into a fourth vehicle, a parked 2011 Ford Expedition.    The suspect’s truck then became disabled and stopped.

After an investigation, officers determined that the driver, Humberto Garcia (09/03/1975) was intoxicated.  The driver was not injured and was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

A 21 year old female walked into Spohn Shoreline Hospital after being stabbed by another female at a home in the 1400 block of Maryland Drive.

Corpus Christi Police Officers arrived and observed the female victim to have two stab wounds to her stomach, and a stab wound to her left arm. The female victim told officers that she went over to visit her 30 year old female friend who lived at the home. When she went inside the house she heard another female yelling at her from another room. When the female came out of the room, she recognized her. She was then attacked by the female suspect and stabbed with a knife. The victim ran out the house through the front door.

She was able to get a ride to the hospital were she was treated for the superficial wounds.

Officers attempted to locate the female suspect, but when they returned to the home on Maryland Street, she had already left the scene.

Police Search For Clues After Woman Found Dead In Water at Marina

A man called emergency services after he found a woman floating in the water around the Corpus Christi Marina Tuesday morning.

Corpus Christi Police responded at 11:31am to Dock F and were directed to the floating unresponsive woman. Emergency Medical Services determined the woman was not alive and the Corpus Christi Police Detectives responded to investigate.

The Corpus Christi Port Police responded by request to recover the body of a woman because the Port Police had the most available boat in the area. The Corpus Christi Police thank the Port Police for their cooperation and assistance.

The Corpus Christi Police Detectives are evaluating the area and searching for clues which may aid in the discovery of the cause for the woman’s death. At this point, Detectives do not know the identity of the woman, her age, or if the death was accidental or intentional. The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to take the woman for an examination to determine the cause of death. Detectives would like anyone who may have any information related to this event to call Detectives at 886-2600.

Offense: Crash

Corpus Christi Police responded to State Highway 181 north over Burleson Street after a semi-truck tractor and its flatbed rolled over.

The crash investigation revealed that the driver of the truck failed to control his speed upon entering a turn and lost control. The truck flipped over onto its right side blocking the roadway. A fork lift that was on the flatbed trailer was thrown off.

Northbound lanes of State Highway 181 were closed for nearly four hours while officers investigated the crash and debris was cleared from the roadway.

The 21 year old driver of the truck was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS to be treated for injuries not believed to be life threatening.

At this time officers continue to investigate this crash and no citations have been issued.

Mike Markle Appointed Interim Chief

Interim Police Chief Mike Markle

Mike Markle has been named Interim Chief of the Corpus Christi Police Department.  Chief Markle is a 25 year veteran of the department.

Chief Markle holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Saint Leo University and recently completed his Masters of Business Administration from the American Military University.

In 2013 he completed the Senior Management Institute of Police, a course designed to prepare today’s police executives for the challenges of the next decade and beyond.  He also recently completed the Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar, or LEEDS, that is designed for chief executive officers of the nation’s mid-sized law enforcement agencies administered by the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Police Executive Research Forum.  Locally, he serves as a board of directors member of the Wesley Community Center.

Prior to his appointment as Interim Chief, Chief Markle served as Assistant Police Chief overseeing the Operations Division. This was a position he was appointed to in May 2012.

A disturbance between neighbors over loud music led to one man going to the hospital and another to jail.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a report of an assault at a home in the 2900 block of Horne Road.  Once they arrived, a 52 year old male victim said that his neighbor was playing loud music.   When the victim decided to go to his neighbor’s house to ask him to turn down the music the neighbor refused to lower the music.

When the victim said he was going to call the police, he turned around to leave and was struck in the back of the head with a metal pipe. The victim was transported by CCFD EMS to Spohn Memorial Hospital for injuries not believed to be life threatening.

Officers arrested the neighbor, Richard Garza (09/17/1968), for aggravated assault.  They also recovered the weapon used in the assault.

It is with deepest regrets that we must inform the community that our Chief of Police, Floyd Simpson, was involved in a motorcycle accident this afternoon in Port Aransas, Texas. Despite all efforts by medical personnel, Chief Simpson succumbed to his injuries at approximately 5:30pm today. Please keep his family and our officers in your thoughts and prayers.

More information will follow at a later time.

Floyd D. Simpson became Corpus Christi’s 22nd Chief of Police on March 12, 2012, following a distinguished career with the Dallas Police Department where he retired at the rank of Assistant Chief.

Chief Simpson brought extensive management experience, where as Assistant Chief in Dallas he oversaw both the Patrol and Administration Bureaus during his 25 year tenure.

Chief Simpson achieved a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Illinois University and earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Amber University. He was a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum Senior Management Institute, the FBI National Academy, and the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas. He served on the Executive Committee of Special Olympics Texas – Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Chief Simpson was married for 27 years and was the proud father of four children. Chief Simpson was an avid runner having completed four marathons, and also enjoyed riding his motorcycle during his few spare moments away from work.
