A 48 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after another man threatened to stab him after he refused to give him a cigar.

The two men were in the parking lot of a motel, located at 3640 Leopard Street, when a friend of the victims asked him for a cigar. The victim said he did not have one, and the suspect got mad.  He pushed the victim in the chest, then pulled put a pocket knife and then threatened to stab him.

The suspect chased the victim around d the parking lot, until the victim was able to run to the Pizza Hut and call police.

Officers located the suspect, Jose Torres (08/08/1976), in the parking lot of the motel and arrested him for aggravated assault.

Police Looking For Armed Robbery Suspect

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of a suspect that they believe robbed the 7 Eleven Store, located at 6302 Saratoga Boulevard, Sunday morning.

The store clerk told Officers that a man wearing a black mask, long sleeve shirt, pants and grey loafers, came into the store and demanded money from the cash register and her cell phone. The suspect who was armed with a shotgun handed the clerk a back pack to put the property in. The suspect then ran out of the store towards the McDonalds.

The suspect in this case has not been identified and Detectives need your help in solving this crime. Anyone with information about this case should call the Corpus Christi Police Criminal Investigations Division at 886-2840. Motor Vehicle Accident with a Pedestrian

Corpus Christ Police Officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. CCPD officers arrived and discovered that a group of 4 younger children were going to Walmart. Two  of the children decided to cross the freeway, unfortunately a 10 year old male was struck by a vehicle.

The responding officers began CPR until Corpus Christi Fire Department medics arrived and transported the child to Spohn Memorial Hospital. Last update on the 10 year old child is that he was in critical condition undergoing surgery.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and contacted police. The driver was not intoxicated and is cooperating fully with follow up investigators.

Investigators are still on the scene of the accident. As soon as we have more information we will update this post.

Charlie District, Narcotics/Vice Division

Vice Officers Arrest Two Females At Spa

The Narcotics / Vice Investigations Division of the Corpus Christi Police Department ran an operation in response to complaints it received regarding prostitution activities at the Royal Spa, located in the Town and Country Shopping Center at 4252 South Alameda Street.

The operation took place at about 1:00 PM on December 23 and resulted in the arrest of Song Yuejuan (10/17/1975) for prostitution, a Class B Misdemeanor.

Jiaduo Yi (01/28/1981) was also arrested. She was charged with operating as a massage therapist without a license which is required under the Occupation Code by the State of Texas, a Class B misdemeanor.

The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to 904 calls for service and generated 207 reports for formal criminal complaints from 7:00 a.m. December 23 to 7:00 a.m. on December 24, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

Offense: Crash

Both east and west bound lanes of State Highway 358 near Bear Lane had to be closed while Corpus Christi Police investigated a crash.

Officers arrived and determined that a 2004 Ford truck driven by an 18 year old man was traveling east when the driver lost control of his vehicle and hit the outside cement wall.  After striking the wall, the truck traveled back across all three lanes of the freeway, and hit a Hummer HU3 driven by a 20 year old man.  The Hummer was then forced into a 2005 Ford Expedition that was occupied by six people. The force of that crash sent the Hummer across the center barricade and onto westbound lanes of the freeway.

Seven people were transported by CCFD EMS to hospitals. Five, including a 9 year old female and a 2 year old boy all went to Spohn Memorial Hospital. Two other children, a 10 year old boy and a six month old female were taken to Driscoll Children’s Hospital.

Those children were all traveling in the Ford Expedition.

None of the injuries appear to be life threatening.

The freeway was reopened about an hour later.

Suspect In Shooting Taken to Jail

The man who pointed a gun at a Corpus Christi Police Officer and a Nueces County Sheriff’s Deputy and was shot at a home in the 14600 block of Red River Drive has been released from Spohn Memorial Hospital and taken to jail.

Tyson Sudderth (05/26/1994), who was shot by the Officer and the Deputy on December 21, was released from the hospital after being treated. He was then arrested and taken to the City Detention Center.

The suspect has been charged with two counts of attempted capital murder against the Officers after he pointed a handgun at them. He is additionally charged with aggravated assault family violence for assaulting and threatening his 26 year old girlfriend with the handgun prior to police arriving.

On December 21, 2015 at approximately 10:19 pm, officers were dispatched to the area of 14600 Red River Drive in reference to a report of shots being fired.

Offices arrived and were informed by a citizen that there was a male inside the house and he had fired a round. As officers were responding to the residence, the female victim came out and advised the officers that there was a man inside the house with a gun. She also stated there were two children under the age of ten inside the house with the suspect.

As officers were securing the scene, the 21 year old male came out of the home with a gun in his hand. Officers began communicating with the suspect and gave orders to drop the gun. The suspect refused and pointed the gun at the officers. The officers fearing for their life fired their weapons striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to Spohn Memorial with non-life threatening injuries.

One officer from the Corpus Christi Police Department and one officer from Nueces County Sheriff’s Department were placed on administrative leave during the investigation. CCPD will be conducting the investigation working closely with NCSO.

At this time the suspect faces charges of aggravated assault family violence and attempted capital murder.

Phlebotomist On Duty During Holidays

The Christmas and New Years Day holidays often lead to an increase in the number of Driving While Intoxicated arrests made by the Corpus Christi Police Department. We want everyone to enjoy this holiday season. We ask that you act responsibly by not drinking and driving in our city. All drivers should avoid the risk of arrest, incarceration or tragedy that is associated with driving while intoxicated.

In an effort to assist law enforcement agencies in the investigation of suspected intoxicated drivers, the Nueces County District Attorney’s Office will provide a trained phlebotomist at the City of Corpus Christi Detention Center from 10 PM to 4 AM on Friday and Saturday, December 25 and 26 during Christmas.

Next week during New Year’s Eve and Day, the phlebotomist will be on duty on Thursday, Friday and Saturday,  December 31, January 1 and 2nd from 10 PM until 4 AM.

The Corpus Christi Police Department remains a “no refusal” agency all of the time. However during this holiday period, when a trained phlebotomist is at the CDC, our officers will not have to take suspects to the hospital in order to get a blood sample. This will make the DWI investigation more efficient and will get our officers back on the street much quicker.

A 30 year old female victim was stabbed in the arm after she was involved in a disturbance with a roommate in the parking lot of an apartment complex located at 6838 Everhart Road.

The victim told Officers that she was with her boyfriend moving out of an apartment she shared with a friend after the two had an argument. They were loading personal items into a Nissan Xterra when the roommate showed up in the parking lot and started yelling at the female.

During a physical altercation, the roommate stabbed the victim in the left arm near her wrist. The roommate then left the area.

As the boyfriend was attempting to leave his parking space that he had backed into in the Nissan, a Ford Mustang, driven by a friend of the roommates, struck his vehicle head on.

No one was injured in the crash, but the victim was taken to Spohn South to be treated for the minor injuries to her arm as a result of the stabbing

The suspect was identified by the victim, but she was not located.

Officer Involved In Shooting On Red River Road

A Corpus Christi Police Officer has been placed on administrative leave, as normal by department policy, after being involved in a shooting at a home located in the 14600 block of Red River Drive

Senior Officer Steven Gonzalez, a 7 year veteran of the department, is the Officer who shot and injured a man who pointed a gun at both the Officer and a Nueces County Sheriff’s Deputy while they were investigating a disturbance call involving a weapon at the home at 10:20 PM on Monday.

The Officer will remain on paid administrative leave until further notice.

The suspect, who pointed a gun at both the Officer and the Deputy has been charged with two counts of attempted capital murder. He is additionally charged aggravated assault family violence for assaulting and threatening his girlfriend. He will be booked into jail after he is treated and released from Spohn Memorial Hospital.
