Corpus Christi Police responded to an alarm at the Dockside Surf Shop located at 10306 South Padre Island Drive.

After arriving officers found a back door to the business had been kicked open.

The suspects stole skateboards, t shirts and other items from the store.

At this time no suspects have been arrested.

Corpus Christi Police responded to Mary Carroll High School to assist the CCISD Police after several people broke into the school and vandalized the property.

CCISD Police and school officials arrived and found confetti, balloons, silly string, shaving cream,  spray paint and banners all throughout the building as well as a vending machine that was tipped over and broken. The vandalism to the building was estimated to be about $500 and the amount needed to replace the vending machine was estimated about $900.

As many as 16 people were thought to have been a part of the crime.

This case is being investigated by CCISD Police.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer parked his police car in the McDonald’s restaurant parking lot for a meal break.

While inside the officer was approached by a citizens who told him that a vehicle had ran into his parked patrol unit. The officer went outside and observed a blue Kia Spectra had struck the passenger side door of his patrol car.

The driver of the Kia was identified as Christopher Miesen (09/29/1980).

After an investigation officers determined that the Kia was traveling south on Eighteenth Street and came across the four lanes of Morgan Avenue and into the parking lot of the restaurant striking the parked police car.

The driver was determined to be intoxicated and he was arrested.

A traffic stop led Corpus Christi Police to a wanted man who was in possession of several Texas Identification cards belonging to others.

An officer stopped the 2001 Mercedes Benz for an illegal turn in the 4900 block of Holly Road.  When officers contacted the driver they found he had three outstanding warrants for his arrest all for theft.

Officers arrested the driver, John Villegas (07/09/1973).

While they were impounding his vehicle, officers found four small bags of heroin.  In the suspect’s pocket, officers found three identification cards belonging to other individuals.  One of the persons had made a report to police on May 22 about being a victim of identity theft.

The suspect was arrested and charged with the outstanding warrants, possession of a controlled substance, and fraud.

Corpus Christi Police responded to the 5500 block of Saratoga Boulevard after a vehicle hit a utility pole knocking several power lines down into the roadway.

Officers determined that a red vehicle had come down the wrong way on Saratoga Boulevard and attempted to turn around. The vehicle went into a business parking lot at a very high rate of speed and side swiped the pole knocking it down.

A passing semi-truck then drove down Saratoga Boulevard and clipped the downed power line. This knocked out all the power to the area including the intersection of Staples Street and Saratoga Boulevard.

Saratoga Boulevard in both directions was closed for just over five hours while the lines were repaired.

A 25 year old male victim called Corpus Christi Police after he was assaulted following a road rage incident.

The victim told officers he was traveling north on Ennis Joslin Road attempting to turn left on to South Alameda Street when a dark blue truck drove up next to him and tried to run him off the road. The victim was forced off the road and into a driveway in the 6000 block of South Alameda Street.

The driver of the blue truck exited his vehicle armed with a hammer and approached the victim who was getting out of his car.  The man approached the victim and pinned him up against his vehicle. The man tried to swing the hammer at the victim but he was able to block it.  The man then looked at the victims license plate and stated, “this isn`t over yet.” then left the scene.

He was last seen driving away in his truck and is described as being between 40 and 50 years old.  Officers were not able to locate the suspect.

Officers are also investigating whether a second call, from a different person, regarding a road rage incident with a blue truck made just prior to the victim calling,  is related to this call.

A disturbance between roommates resulted in one being treated for head injuries and the other in jail.

A 50 year old male victim walked into Spohn Shoreline Hospital with a large cut to his head.  Corpus Christi Police were called to investigate and they determined that the victim was asleep inside an apartment located at 4443 Ocean Drive when his roommate woke him up complaining about trash left in the kitchen.  The roommate grabbed the victim by his feet, pulled him out of bed and pushed him outside.  He then shoved him down a flight of stairs causing the injuries to the victims head.

The victim was given a ride to the hospital by a friend who also lives in the apartment.

Officers returned to the apartment and arrested the roommate, Liovel Granado-Gonzalez (05/28/1963) for aggravated assault.

It was also later determined that the victim suffered fractures to his lower neck and broke his left wrist during the fall.  He was transferred  to Spohn Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Corpus Christi Police were dispatched to 14049 South Padre Island Drive, The Oceans Treasures Souvenir Shop for a glass break alarm.

When officers arrived they found a shattered window on the west side of the shop.  It appears that the suspects used the shattered window to gain entry into the business. Once inside the shop, a display counter containing sunglasses was forced open.

Owners of the business arrived and told officers that nearly 40 Costa sunglasses and accessories appeared to be stolen. The value of all the sunglasses taken was estimated to be $8000 and damage to the business was thought to be $1000.

At this time officers continue to investigate this case and no suspects have been arrested.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a crash in which a vehicle struck a building.

Officers arrived and found a silver Chevrolet Silverado truck still at the scene.  The truck had crashed into a business located at 1314 South Staples Street, the Hill Country Prosthetics and caused heavy damage to the building.  The driver of the vehicle had left his truck and fled the scene.

Two witnesses that observed the crash told officers that they saw the truck traveling north on South Staples Street.  The truck swerved, lost control and then crashed into the building.  They then saw the male driver, who was wearing a blue shirt and dark pants, exit the vehicle and flee the scene on foot.

The driver was not located and the truck was impounded.

Corpus Christi Police Officers worked on an overtime basis through a grant provided by the Texas Department of Transportation to enforce the states seat belt laws from May 18 through May 31.

256  Click It or Ticket overtime hours were worked

271  citations were issued to drivers and passengers without seat belts on.

22  citations were issued to drivers for children in the vehicle not in car safety seats.

98  citations were issued  to drivers for other violations such as expired vehicle registration or inspection or for no liability insurance.

2  separate arrests were made. One was for a man with three outstanding arrest warrants. The other was for possession of marijuana.

With only two cars on the street, a patrol car and a drunk driver, the suspected intoxicated driver somehow managed to crash into the back of a Corpus Christi Police unit that was on patrol.

The police unit had slowed down while traveling east, to observe some subjects walking in the parking lot of a business in the 4800 block of Leopard Street.  The patrol car was then struck from the rear by a 2012 Nissan Altima sedan also traveling east on Leopard Street.

After an investigation, officers determined that the driver of the Nissan, Arthur Walker (06/18/1976), was intoxicated.  He was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Neither the officer, nor the suspected drunk driver were injured in the crash.

A party at a bonfire at Beach Marker 210 on Padre Island left two brothers stabbed and a suspect in jail.

The two brothers were with several other people at a bonfire on the beach when the younger brother was approached by a 21 year old female friend who told him that she had some unwanted sexual advances and comments made to her by another male at the party.  The 20 year old brother confronted the man about the comments he had made and was stabbed in his upper left leg.  Upon seeing his younger brother get stabbed, the older brother got involved in the attack and he was also stabbed by the man.  The 22 year old brother was stabbed in the left side of his chest and his right arm.  The man who stabbed the two was held down by other witnesses that saw the attack until police arrived.

The two brothers were transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS.  The younger brother was being treated for minor injuries.  The older brother was last reported in serious condition in the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.

Alberto Martinez (09/23/1969) was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault.  Officers also recovered the knife used in the attack.

A 28 year old man was stabbed multiple times in his upper body after he was attacked in the 600 block of North Staples Street.  The victim was not able to provide officers with any details but a witness told them that a black male and a white female may have been involved in a disturbance with the victim on the roadway in front of the bus station.

The witness told officers that she heard yelling, then saw the two suspects running from the scene, and the victim on the ground.  CCFD EMS transported the victim to Spohn Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

Officers continue to investigate this crime, and at this time no suspects have been arrested.

A vehicle racing another traveling north on South Staples Street crashed into a third that was turning onto McArdle Road.

Corpus Christi Police arrived at the crash scene and were told by witnesses that a 2013 red Mitsubishi Lancer was racing a 2008 silver Infinity and as the two cars approached the McArdle Road intersection the light for them turned red.  Both cars ran the red light, and the red Lancer struck a truck that was turning onto McArdle Road.  A 26 year old passenger in the Lancer was taken to Spohn Memorial by CCFD EMS with critical injuries.

After an investigating, the driver of the Lancer, Oscar Delgado (01/11/1989) was determined to be intoxicated. He was arrested for intoxication assault, a felony offense, due the his intoxication and the serious injuries sustained by his passenger.

The  occupants in the truck that was struck by the Lancer were transported to Bay Area Hospital by CCFD EMS with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

Officers also later found the 2008 Infinity that they believe was involved in the racing parked in the 1000 block of Bradshaw Street.  There was no one in the vehicle.  The vehicle was impounded.

Storage Unit Burglar

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of a man they believe was involved in a burglary to a business.

Officers responded to the Move It Self Storage, located at 5560 Ayers Street, on May 8.  The owner of the business told officers that while she was out of the office, showing a storage unit to another couple, the suspect entered her storage unit and removed property from inside. The owner of the business did not know anything was missing until later in the day.  She then reviewed her office video system and saw the male suspect take the property.

The suspect in this case has not been identified, and detectives need you help in solving this crime.  The suspect is described as an older Hispanic male, with a black shirt pants and shoes.  He was also wearing a maroon and white hat and sunglasses. The suspect arrived in a green van with a broken driver side rear window.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of a man they believe stole $12,000 worth of watches from a store in La Palmera Mall on May

A store employee from the Dillard’s Store called Corpus Christi Police after he performed an inventory check and discovered forty watches missing from a display counter.  The employee reviewed store video and noticed that two days ago a male suspect reached behind the jewelry counter and stole a display of watches. At the time, the theft went unnoticed by any of the employees working the jewelry department.

The suspect in this case has not been identified, and detectives need you help in solving this crime.  The suspect is described as a male, with a white shirt, black shorts, a black cap and sunglasses.  The first video clip shows him walking the floor of the store prior to stealing the items.  The second video clip appears to show the suspect walking away from the watch counter carrying items in his hands.

Police Investigate Cheyenne St. Homicide

Corpus Christi Police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the driveway of an abandoned home located at 658 Cheyenne Street.

When officers arrived they observed a silver Ford F150 truck parked inside of a fence in the driveway.  As officers were investigating this call, they went to the rear of the detached garage on the property.  As they approached a back door to the garage, a male that had blood on his clothing and hands exited the door.
Officers immediately detained the man.

Once inside the garage, officers located the body of a female that appeared to have signs of trauma.

At this time it is unknown what type of weapon was used in this crime, and the victim’s identity is not known.

The man was taken in for questioning.

A 31 year old male walked into Spohn Memorial Hospital after he was stabbed in the forearm Hospital staff notified Corpus Christi Police and the victim told officers that he was at a home behind the HEB Store located in the 3500 block of Leopard Street when two males started fighting.  The victim said he attempted to break up the fight and ended up getting stabbed in his left forearm.  Once he was cut the fighting stopped and another unknown person present at this house gave him a ride to the hospital emergency room.  The victim could not provide officers with any suspect information or an accurate address of the assault. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Protect It or Someone May Steal Your Stuff

The Corpus Christi Police Department wants to inform citizens about auto burglaries occurring in the city.    With the upcoming summer months, and the possibility that friends and family may visit our city and stay at local hotels, the police department wants to pass on information that it has gathered during the month of May.

 From May 1 to May 27, there have been 69 reports of auto burglaries at hotels and motels citywide.

Auto burglaries are occurring in hotel and motel parking lots every day of the week.  On the average there are more than 2 reported every day.

78% of the auto burglaries occurred between 6 PM and 2 AM.

42% of the time the victim’s vehicle was unlocked.

Miscellaneous power and work tools are by far the most targeted items taken from vehicles.  The second most common items taken are personal devices such as cell phones and laptops.  Followed by purses, wallets and backpacks.

50 of the 69 vehicles targeted were trucks.
24 were Ford F-series
16 were GMC / Chevrolet
5 were Toyota Tundra
5 were Dodge Ram

The Corpus Christi Police Department wants to warn our citizens that these types of crimes are occurring in our city.  The department does have strategies it plans to implement to address these crimes but we also ask that citizens do their part in protecting their property.
