Patrol Report 07/08/2015

A 18 year old female victim called Corpus Christi Police after another female jumped into her car and attempted to take it from her.

The female victim told Officers that she was driving on Sandy Oaks Drive when she stopped at the stop sign at Waldron Road.  The female suspect approached her 2006 Dodge Charger on the passenger side and knocked on the window.  When the victim rolled the window down, the suspect reached inside, unlocked the door and got inside.

The suspect told the victim to drive her to Yorktown Road.    The victim reluctantly began to drive her there and the suspect told her she was going to take her car.

When they arrived, the suspect reached over and pulled the victims hair and attempted to get the keys out of the ignition.  The victim told Officers that she fought back and was able to physically push the female suspect out of her car.

Officers responded to the area where the suspect was last seen and saw her walking north on Waldron Road.  The female suspect, Meagan Chapman (03/23/1989), was arrested for robbery.

The victim was not seriously injured during the attack.

Employees of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC Office), located inside the Hill Top Community Center at 11425 Leopard Street, called Corpus Christi Police after they arrived at work and found the offices had been burglarized, and a vehicle stolen from the parking lot.

The employee told Officers that sometime over the holiday weekend someone entered the Hill Top Center and then proceeded to burglarized individual areas of the complex that were separated by locked doors.

A window glass was smashed out by the suspects to gain entry and once inside a set of double wooden doors leading into the main hallway toward the WIC office area were also pried open.

Once inside the WIC office the suspects ransacked the area, removing a large flat screen TV from the wall, but leaving it behind. Several cabinets and desk drawers were opened and various items were scattered about.

During the burglary the suspects found the keys to a 2008 blue Honda Civic that is used by WIC employees and it was stolen

Employees at the office estimated that damage to the building was over $1,500.

At this time no suspects have been identified and no arrest have been made.

A 19 year old man drown in the swimming pool of a hotel located at 15202 Windward Drive on Padre Island while swimming with his sister.

Corpus Christi Police arrived and were told by the victim’s sister that she was swimming with her brother when she got out of the pool to go to the restroom.  When she returned, she observed him floating in the water.

Several people helped her pull him out of the pool and a female nurse began CPR.  CCFD EMS transported the man to Bay Area Hospital where he was pronounced dead about three hours after arriving.

The two family members were in Corpus Christi vacationing from Austin.

A 26 year old female driver lost control of her truck after being hit by another vehicle traveling down the 4300 block of Holly Road.

The female told Officers that she was driving her, 2013 GMC Sierra truck, east on Holly Road when she was side swiped by a vehicle on the passenger side of her truck causing her to lose control and leave the roadway.

Her truck struck a light pole and then went through a wooden fence striking the two vehicles in the driveway of a home at 4341 Montego Drive.

The vehicle that hit her truck fled the scene and was not located.

The driver, and her 31 year old female passenger, were both transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

Suspect Walks Out With Accordions

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of a suspect they believe stole two accordions valued at $6000 each from Clawson’s Music Store located at 2701 South Padre Island Drive on June 25 just after 2 PM.

Store employees told Officers that the man came into the store and asked to see both accordions.  When the employee left the man alone, and went to go ask store management about a price, the man grabbed both musical instruments and ran out the front door of the store without paying.

Detectives were able to obtain camera images from the store security system of the suspect.  He was last seen wearing a t-shirt, blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a ball cap.

The suspect in this case was not located and Detectives need your help in identifying this individual.  Anyone with information about this case should call the Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives at 886-2840. A 28 year old man was arrested after a Texas Parks and Wildlife Warden witnessed a road rage incident in the 12900 block Interstate 37 north.

The Game Warden told Corpus Christi Police that he saw a blue Ford F250 truck tailgating a white Chevrolet truck almost touching the rear bumper.  He then saw the blue truck hit the rear end of the white truck causing it to spin out of control and to hit the concrete median.

The driver of the blue truck attempted to leave the scene, but the Game Warden was able to stop the truck and detain the driver.

The 27 year old driver of the truck that hit the wall was transported to Northwest Hospital for minor injuries to his back.

The driver of the blue truck. Halen Lowman (07/03/1986), was arrested for aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, a second degree felony.

The victim told Officers that the aggressive driver had gotten upset when he entered the freeway from the on ramp and moved in front of him. The victim tapped his break twice to try and get the aggressive driver off his tail, but he said that the driver, instead, accelerated and hit him from the rear causing him to lose control.

Do You Know These Two Thieves?

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of two suspects that they believe stole computer equipment from the New York Life business, located at 5350 South Staples Street, on June 15 at about 3 PM.

Employees at the business told Officers that the suspect with the red cap walks into the office, while the suspect with the blue cap is watching from outside.  The suspect with the red cap enters a hallway storage room inside of the office.  He is then seen a short time later walking out with two cases, one in each hand.  The two large silver metal cases each contained a laptop computer, a printer, a web camera, and a finger printing kit.  They are worth $5000. The suspect in the blue cap leaves the area following the male in the red cap.

Detectives were able to obtain camera images from the security camera system that shows both males enter the office front doors.  They were both wearing white t-shirts, blue jeans and tennis shoes.

The suspects in this case was not located and Detectives need your help in identifying these individuals.  Anyone with information about this case should call the Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives at 886-2840. A 34 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after a handgun was stolen from his vehicle.

The victim told Officers that he may have left his 2012 Toyota Tundra truck unlocked while it was parked in the 14400 block of Chantilly Drive.  There was no damage done and no forced entry into the truck, but the suspects did take a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun from inside the center console.

At this time, no suspects have been identified in this case.

Over 70 firearms have been reported stolen from the inside of vehicles this year in the city.  Less than 20 of those firearms have been recovered.

16 Year Old Driver Crashes Into Car Dealership

Offense: Crash Involving Significant Property Damage
Case Number: C1502741
A 16 year old driver caused over $100,000 in damages to new trucks and property at a local car dealership after he crashed this morning.

The driver was traveling south in his 2003 Chevrolet truck on the Crosstown Access Road when he attempted to pass a friend of his in another truck.  The driver lost control and spun into the Allen Samuels car dealership located at 2118 South Padre Island Drive.

His truck struck a fence, a light pole, two American flag poles and five brand new 2015 Chevrolet trucks that were on the dealership lot.  A manager with Allen Samuels Chevrolet estimated that each truck was valued at $60,000.

The driver was treated by CCFD EMS at the scene for only minor injuries.

At this time, Officers with the Traffic Division continue to investigate this crash and will determine if any charges will be filed against the driver.

Patrol Report 06/25/2015 PIO2

The manager of a Car Wash, located at 9750 South Padre Island Drive, called Corpus Christi Police after she arrived at work to find the front door to her officer had been kicked in.

The manager told Officers that once suspects made it inside the office, a desk and several file cabinets were ransacked.  The suspects stole a money bag containing cash and also stole a television off the wall.

Damage to the business door was estimated to be $250.

At this time no suspects have been identified, and Officers continue to investigate this crime.
