Offense: Aggravated Robbery

A 48 year old man driving around looking for a motel room was robbed by several suspects in the 4000 block of Leopard Street.

The man called Corpus Christi Police and told Officers he had been driving around from motel to motel for two hours trying to find one with a vacancy.

When he parked at the Economy Inn, located at 4024 Leopard Street, and was walking toward the front office he was approached by two male and two female suspects. One of the males pointed a gun at his head and demanded he hand over his money. The victim gave up his wallet, that had cash inside, and two cell phones.

The victim was able to provide Officers with a description of the four suspects. They were described as two black males, both wearing white tank top shirts and blue jeans. The two white females were last seen wearing a pink shirt and pink shorts and the other wearing a button up shirt over a black shirt with blue jean shorts.

At this time, no suspects have been arrested.

The victim was not injured.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated

A truck stopped at a red light at the intersection of S. Padre Island Drive and Nile Drive was hit from behind by a suspected drunk driver.

Corpus Christi Police arrived at the scene and the crash investigation revealed that a 2012 Dodge truck, driven by a 32 year old man, was stopped at a red light when it was struck from behind by a 2014 Chevrolet truck.

There were no injuries reported, but Officers did determine that the driver of the Chevrolet truck, Richard Gomez (05/15/1979) was intoxicated and he was arrested.

Patrol Report 07/16/2015

A crash in the 4600 block of Corona Drive sent one man to the hospital and another man to jail.

Corpus Christi Police responded and found two trucks had crashed head on into each other. An investigation revealed that a 2015 Toyota truck was traveling west on Corona Drive. It was driven by, Ismael M. Cantu (11/21/1984), and was occupied by a 31 year old male front seat passenger.

While attempting to negotiate a curve in the road, the truck drifted out of its lane and struck a 2005 Nissan Frontier truck traveling east head on. The Nissan was being driven by a 52 year old man.

After an investigation, it was determined that the driver of the Toyota truck was intoxicated and he was arrested for intoxication assault.

The passenger in the Toyota truck was not injured, however, the driver of the Nissan truck suffered very serious injuries to his left arm and was transported by CCFD EMS to Spohn Memorial Hospital.

Employees of a restaurant located at 10669 Leopard Street called Corpus Christi Police after they arrived at work to find the front glass window of the business broken out.

Once the window was broken, the suspect went into the business and removed money from the cash register.

At this time no suspects have been identified, and Officers continue to investigate this crime.

Patrol Report July 13, 2015

“Bravo” District

Offense: Unlawful Carrying a Handgun
(Penal Code Section 46.02) Class A Misdemeanor
Case Number: 1507100115

Corpus Christi Police arrested 26-year-old Dallas Murrow (12/15/1988) for unlawfully carrying a handgun at the 4300 block of Ocean Drive Friday night.
Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a suspicious person at the Riviera Condos at 6:05pm Friday night.  Officers saw the individual leave on a motorcycle. The Officers saw that the motorcycle had expired vehicle registration so the Officers conducted a traffic stop.  Officers contacted Murrow and discovered Murrow had a warrant for his arrest for failing to appear on a charge of Possession of dangerous drugs. Officers discovered Murrow had a handgun in the waistband of his pants and learned that Murrow was not issued a concealed handgun license. Officers discovered what Officers believe is methamphetamine, and marijuana in Murrow’s pockets. Murrow was arrested for unlawful carrying a handgun, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and for the warrant for his arrest. Officers impounded the motorcycle and delivered Murrow to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a house fire on the 1700 block of Horne Road Saturday morning and believe that the fire was intentionally set. No person was inside the home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. Arson Investigators are working to locate the residents of the home.

Offense: Discharge a Firearm Inside the City Limits with injury (Penal Code Section 42.12) Class A Misdemeanor
A 32-year-old woman reported to Corpus Christi Police that she was injured by gunfire on some ranch somewhere in Nueces County, possibly inside Corpus Christi, Sunday morning. The 32-year-old woman showed up in the emergency room for treatment for a gunshot to her left arm bicep. The 32-year-old woman told Officers she and others had consumed alcohol and went for a drive, then stopped along the side of the road in an area not familiar to her and the group discharged firearms into the field. The 32-year-old woman told Officers the group drove back into town when the husband of the 32-year-old woman sat in the back seat as he manipulated a handgun when the firearm discharged in the vehicle which struck the left arm of the 32-year-old woman. The Emergency Room staff told Officers the injury was not life threatening. Officers went to the 1400 block of Casa De Oro and located a 30-year-old man who is the husband to the 32-year-old woman. The Officers gathered information which led Officers to believe the firearm discharge was not intentional, and no arrests were made at this time. The Officers seized two handguns and continue to gather facts, evidence and information related to this event.

Offense: Deadly Conduct (Penal Code Section 22.05) 3rd Degree Felony

Corpus Christi Police arrested 34-year-old Debbie Guerrero (2/20/1981) for Deadly Conduct after a shooting that happened on the 2800 block of Ruth Street Saturday afternoon. Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a shooting at 4:20pm and did not find any injured person, but witnesses provided a description of the suspect vehicle to Officers. Officers found the suspect vehicle at Baldwin and Cleo and gathered evidence both from the scene and from the vehicle. Gang Unit Officers obtained a search warrant for a home where the shooting is believed to take place, and Officers arrested Guerrero, who was the operator of the suspect vehicle. No injuries or property damage was reported.

Offense: Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant (Penal Code Section 22.02) 1st Degree Felony
Corpus Christi Police arrested 24-year-old Benjamin Medina (3/5/1991) for aggravated assault against a public servant on the 500 block of North Shoreline Boulevard Sunday morning for putting a knife to the throat of a Security Guard for the bank. A 44-year-old man told Officers he is a uniformed security guard on duty at 500 North Shoreline and at 2:54am, an unknown man approached the 44-year-old man in the parking garage. The 44-year-old man explained to Officers that the 44-year-old man sat in his car when the unknown man, who was later identified as Medina, approached the 44-year-old man and asked for a ride. The 44-year-old man told Officers he refused to give Medina a ride because he was on duty. The 44-year-old man told Officers Medina reached for the 44-year-old man’s phone and then displayed a knife and put the blade to the 44-year-old man’s throat when the 44-year-old man kept the phone away from Medina. The 44-year-old man told Officers he exchanged words with Medina, when Medina lowered the blade and walked away. Officers located Medina near a fast food restaurant and arrested Medina for Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant. The 44-year-old man said he was not injured and refused medical treatment. Officers delivered Medina to the city detention center.

Delta District

Corpus Christi Police arrested two men for burglary Thursday at 1:30 in the afternoon after alert witnesses saw unusual activity at a closed snack bar on Highland Avenue and called Police.

Officers arrived at the Julia’s Snack Bar and saw two men leave the building from the roof, and the men ran from the Officers. The Officers chased and captured both men and arrested 26-year-old Rudy Alba (6/5/1989) and 26-year-old Francisco Zuniga (4/6/1989) for burglary of a building and evading arrest. Both men were then delivered to the city detention center.

Charlie District

Corpus Christi Police arrested 33-year-old Daniel Luna (5/28/1982) for burglary of a building at 4710 Ayers Street Thursday after a battery shop owner told Officers he caught Luna in the act.

A 47-year-old man reported a burglary to Corpus Christi Police at 4:30pm Thursday afternoon at a battery shop that was open for business. The 47-year-old man told Officers he went to the back storage area of the business that is not accessible for the public and found an unknown man loading batteries into a truck without permission. The 47-year-old man pointed out the unknown man who had left the building and travelled away from the business and Officers contacted Luna. Luna was arrested for burglary to a building and delivered to the city detention center.

CCPD Makes Arrest Involving Amber Alert

The Alice Police Department issued an Amber Alert just after 11:30 AM regarding a 7 year old male that had been abducted from their city.  It was also relayed to law enforcement that the suspect involved, Channing Eloy Galbraith (01/06/1986), was now wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for kidnapping the child. Further information was relayed on the Amber Alert that the suspect was driving a white, 2009, Dodge, Avenger four door car.

At 12:08 PM an employee at the Papa Murphy’s Pizza, located at 4020 Weber Road, in the Hamlin Shopping Center called Corpus Christi Police to report that she saw the vehicle parked in the parking lot.  Officers arrived just as the vehicle was exiting the parking lot and turning onto South Staples Street. They were able to stop the car and take the suspect into custody in the parking lot of CCFD Fire Station 7, located at 3722 South Staples Street.

The Officers were able to secure the child, and he did not appear to suffer any injuries. The child was transported to Driscoll Children’s Hospital by Detectives as a precaution.

The suspect was taken to CCPD  to await the arrival of Detectives from  the Alice Police Department.  The suspect will appear before a  magistrate in Nueces County  before being transported back to Jim Wells County.

A disturbance between a man and his girlfriend led Corpus Christi Police to arrest the man for driving while intoxicated.

The male and the 38 year old female were in a vehicle traveling down Interstate 69 when they pulled into the parking lot of a restaurant and the female got out.  The male drove off, leaving the female walking.

He then returned a short time later and the two got involved in another disturbance.  This time a witness called the police and when they arrived they found the man driving his 2013 GMC truck around the parking lot trying to talk to the female.

When the Officers went to investigate, they determined that the driver, Arnold Adame Jr. (11/06/1978) was intoxicated.  He was arrested for driving while intoxicated and his truck was impounded.

A 18 year old female victim called Corpus Christi Police after another female jumped into her car and attempted to take it from her.

The female victim told Officers that she was driving on Sandy Oaks Drive when she stopped at the stop sign at Waldron Road.  The female suspect approached her 2006 Dodge Charger on the passenger side and knocked on the window.  When the victim rolled the window down, the suspect reached inside, unlocked the door and got inside.

The suspect told the victim to drive her to Yorktown Road.    The victim reluctantly began to drive her there and the suspect told her she was going to take her car.

When they arrived, the suspect reached over and pulled the victims hair and attempted to get the keys out of the ignition.  The victim told Officers that she fought back and was able to physically push the female suspect out of her car.

Officers responded to the area where the suspect was last seen and saw her walking north on Waldron Road.  The female suspect, Meagan Chapman (03/23/1989), was arrested for robbery.

The victim was not seriously injured during the attack.

Employees of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC Office), located inside the Hill Top Community Center at 11425 Leopard Street, called Corpus Christi Police after they arrived at work and found the offices had been burglarized, and a vehicle stolen from the parking lot.

The employee told Officers that sometime over the holiday weekend someone entered the Hill Top Center and then proceeded to burglarized individual areas of the complex that were separated by locked doors.

A window glass was smashed out by the suspects to gain entry and once inside a set of double wooden doors leading into the main hallway toward the WIC office area were also pried open.

Once inside the WIC office the suspects ransacked the area, removing a large flat screen TV from the wall, but leaving it behind. Several cabinets and desk drawers were opened and various items were scattered about.

During the burglary the suspects found the keys to a 2008 blue Honda Civic that is used by WIC employees and it was stolen

Employees at the office estimated that damage to the building was over $1,500.

At this time no suspects have been identified and no arrest have been made.
