A female was arrested by Corpus Christi Police at the apartment she shared with her fiancé, located at 6048 Ocean Drive, after she pointed a gun at him.

Officers arrived and spoke to the 55 year old male victim who told them that he was arguing with the female about her leaving the apartment. During the disturbance, his fiancé pointed a .38 caliber revolver at him. The man was able to wrestle the gun away from her and called police.

Officers arrived and arrested the female, Jennifer Valadez (01/13/1987), for aggravated assault.

The male was not injured.

Crime Stoppers Has Cash Reward to Catch a Thief

Corpus Christi Police would like help from the public to identify or locate a man accused of stealing an air compressor from the back of an unattended, pickup truck in a restaurant parking lot located at 2601 Ayers Street on October 13, 2015.

Corpus Christi Police obtained video of the man who went inside the restaurant to buy a meal at 12:38pm. The man left the restaurant with a little boy and the two got into a white four door car with a sun roof. The car went to a different parking spot and the man got out, then took the air compressor from the bed of the pickup truck and loaded the compressor into the car and drove away. The owner of the compressor told Officers the compressor was valued at about $950 dollars.

Phlebotomist On Duty This Halloween

Halloween often leads to an increase in the number of Driving While Intoxicated arrests made by the Corpus Christi Police Department. We want everyone to enjoy this scary weekend and ask that you act responsibly by not drinking and driving in our city. All drivers should avoid the risk of arrest, incarceration or tragedy that is associated with driving while intoxicated.

In an effort to assist law enforcement agencies in the investigation of suspected intoxicated drivers, the Nueces County District Attorney’s Office will provide a trained phlebotomist at the City of Corpus Christi Detention Center to take your blood. The Dracula like technician will work from 10pm to 4am on Friday and Saturday nights, October 30th and 31st.

It should be noted that “No Refusals” and having a phlebotomist at the detention center began on Halloween night in 2008. Congratulations to seven years of a successful program in the fight to keep drunk drivers off our city streets.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a burglary alarm at a business, located at 4915 Everhart Road, and once there they found a rear door had been forced open from the outside.

An employee met Officers at the business and when they went inside they found a cash register had been pried open and checks spread across the floor behind the counter. The control panel box for the alarm to the business had been ripped off the wall and employees desk draws had been opened and items from inside had been thrown to the floor.

The total amount of damage done to the business was estimated to be over $8500.

At this time the suspects who committed this crime have not been identified, and police continue to investigate

Halloween Safety Tips

Halloween is this Saturday Night. We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable day. Here are a few tips that hopefully will make your night a little safer.

 

Avoid trick-or-treating alone. Walk in groups or with a trusted adult.

Hold a flashlight while trick-or-treating to help you see and others see you.

Always WALK and don’t run from house to house. Look both ways before crossing the street. and use crosswalks when possible.

Walk on sidewalks whenever possible, or on the far edge of the road facing traffic to stay safe.

Wear well-fitting masks, costumes, and shoes to avoid blocked vision, trips, and falls.

Enter homes only if you’re with a trusted adult. Only visit well-lit houses. Don’t stop at dark houses. Never accept rides from strangers.

As for those who would rather plays tricks than receive treats, remember that damaging a person’s property can be considered “Criminal Mischief”. Don’t ruin your night by having to meet a Police Officer. The costume they are wearing is real and so are the consequences.

Corpus Christi Police were called to Doctor’s Regional Hospital after a 21 year old man walked into the emergency room with a gunshot wound to his knee.

The victim told Officers that he was walking on Brawner Parkway near Cambridge Street when a white car pulled up and two male suspects got out.  One of the suspects had a gun and they demanded the victim’s money.  The victim said he attempted to knock the gun away from the suspect, but when he did, it went off striking him just below the right knee.

The suspects took the victim’s wallet and some cash and then got back in the vehicle and fled on Brawner Parkway toward Kostoryz Road. .

The victim was able to walk two blocks to his home and his sister drove him to the hospital.

The quick actions of two citizens may have saved the life of a 60 year old female after her car rolled into the water after a crash in the 4700 block of State Highway 181 north access road.

Corpus Christi Police responded to North Beach for the report that a vehicle had rolled off the roadway flipped several times and landed upside down in water.

When Officers arrived they determined that the female driver, of the 2011 Nissan Versa sedan, had been removed by two men who stopped to help. One of the men was driving behind the female and he saw her car lose control and go into the water flipping several times. He and a man, that was fishing along the shore, ran into the water to help. They held the woman’s head out of the water while freeing her from the wreckage and then moved her to the shore.

The female driver was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS for minor injuries sustained in the crash.

She told Officers that she lost control of her car after hitting a bump in the road.

Suspect Uses Cloned Credit Card

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of a man they believe used a cloned credit card at several Wal Mart Stores in the city on October 14.

Detectives were able to get surveillance camera images of the suspect leaving two different stores. One is at 6101 Saratoga Boulevard, and the other is at 3829 U.S. Highway 77.  The suspect was able to make purchases totaling $450 from those two stores, as well as another $435 purchase from the Wal Mart Store located at 1821 South Padre Island Drive.

With a cloned credit card the suspect was able to make these purchases without the victim’s actual Visa card.

The suspect was last seen wearing a blue short sleeve shirt with a blue stripe on the front, tan pants, a cap and brown boots.

The suspect in this case has not been identified, and detectives need your help in solving this crime. Anyone with information about this case should call the Corpus Christi Police Financial Crimes Detectives at 886-2840. Detectives Investigating Death Of Child

Corpus Christi Police Detectives are investigating the death of a 5 month old little boy.

Officers were called to Driscoll Children’s Hospital on Friday, October 23 just before 3:30 PM.  Hospital Staff informed them that the parents of the little boy had brought the child to the emergency room with shallow breathing.  The child was pronounced dead a short time later.

The parents told Officers that they had just picked up their child from a baby sitter at a trailer home located in the 5900 block of Ayers Street. They noticed the child had difficulty breathing and his body was limp.  They immediately drove him to the hospital.

Detectives, along with Child Protective Services, were able to respond to the trailer home on Ayers Street and an investigation is underway.

At this time, the cause of death has not been determined.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a burglar alarm at a business, located at 4147 Interstate 69.

When Officers arrived, and went to the rear of the business, they found two suspects leaving with what appeared to be stolen property. Both suspects attempted to flee on foot, and Officers were only able to catch up with one.

Officers arrested the suspect who attempted to flee, Henry Perez (12/27/1977), for burglary. The other suspect was not located.

Officers were able to return the stolen property to the business owner.

The owner estimated that there was $500 in damage done to her back door by the suspects to gain entry.

Officers are working to identify the second suspect involved in this crime.
