A 30 year old female victim was stabbed in the arm after she was involved in a disturbance with a roommate in the parking lot of an apartment complex located at 6838 Everhart Road.

The victim told Officers that she was with her boyfriend moving out of an apartment she shared with a friend after the two had an argument. They were loading personal items into a Nissan Xterra when the roommate showed up in the parking lot and started yelling at the female.

During a physical altercation, the roommate stabbed the victim in the left arm near her wrist. The roommate then left the area.

As the boyfriend was attempting to leave his parking space that he had backed into in the Nissan, a Ford Mustang, driven by a friend of the roommates, struck his vehicle head on.

No one was injured in the crash, but the victim was taken to Spohn South to be treated for the minor injuries to her arm as a result of the stabbing

The suspect was identified by the victim, but she was not located.

A 22 year old female called Corpus Christi Police after she walked into her apartment and found a man standing in the living room.

The Hispanic male, dressed in a brown shirt and brown shorts, claimed to be from a delivery service, but when questioned, he took off running.

Officers arrived and found pry marks around the front door, and they suspect this is how he made entry into the apartment. . The female told Officers that it did not appear as though anything was taken.

Officers did not locate the suspect and continue to investigate this case.

Officer Involved Shooting

On December 21, 2015 at approximately 10:19 pm, officers were dispatched to the area of 14600 Red River Drive in reference to a report of shots being fired.

Offices arrived and were informed by a citizen that there was a male inside the house and he had fired a round. As officers were responding to the residence, the female victim came out and advised the officers that there was a man inside the house with a gun. She also stated there were two children under the age of ten inside the house with the suspect.

As officers were securing the scene, the 21 year old male came out of the home with a gun in his hand. Officers began communicating with the suspect and gave orders to drop the gun. The suspect refused and pointed the gun at the officers. The officers fearing for their life fired their weapons striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to Spohn Memorial with non life threatening injuries.

One officer from the Corpus Christi Police Department and one officer from Nueces County Sheriffs Department were placed on administrative leave during the investigation. CCPD will be conducting the investigation working closely with NCSO.

At this time the suspect faces charges of aggravated assault family violence and attempted capital murder.

An employee of a restaurant, located at 1620 South Padre Island Drive, called Corpus Christi Police after the business was robbed by a man wearing a black mask and a hoodie.

The female employee told Officers that she was working in the back of the restaurant when she heard the door open and then the lights turn off. She was then grabbed from behind by a male suspect who had has face covered.  The suspect made the employee take him behind the counter and demanded that she unlock the safe, and the cash register.

After taking the cash, the suspect fled the restaurant on foot. At this time Officers continue to investigate this case, however, no suspects have been arrested.

Robbery Suspect Turns Himself In

A man Corpus Christi Police were looking for in connection to a robbery, that occurred on December 15 at a store located at 6410 Weber Road, was identified by his mother after she saw media reports that Officers were looking for him.

The suspect was identified as the man seen in the video attempting to cover his face and robbing the store with a knife.  After seeing news reports of the robbery, his mother, called police on Friday and identified her son as the man Officers  were looking for.

Later that same day, the suspect, Johnny Joe Montoya (02/03/1975), came to the police department and turned himself in.

Group of Thieves Roam Residential Streets

Offense: Burglary of a Vehicle (Penal Code Section 30.04)

The Corpus Christi Police Auto Theft Task Force would like help from the public to identify and locate the group of people who stole items from a vehicle on the 2600 block of Wool Drive last Wednesday morning.

An 18 year old woman reported a burglary to her vehicle Wednesday morning. The 18-year-old woman told Officers an unknown person went into her vehicle parked in her driveway overnight and stole papers with her identifying information. The 18-year-old woman provided video of the actual event.

Detectives watched the video and learned there were a group of people who roamed the street and approached several vehicles in the neighborhood. The video shows three people entered the 18-year-old woman’s car and opened the trunk to steal items from the car. The video shows a dark color truck with the door open which followed the group of thieves through the street.

Corpus Christi Police would like the public to be aware of this video to understand the activity so they may take precautions to reduce the risk of becoming a victim. Police encourage no valuables be left in an unattended vehicle.

Corpus Christi Police would like to warn the public about thieves who are taking packages from the front doors of homes left by parcel delivery services in Corpus Christi.

One particular incident happened on Monday afternoon on the 4300 block of Bratton Road which a theft was captured on video by the home owner. A 25-year-old woman told Corpus Christi Police Officers she discovered a silver Cadillac four door sedan stopped in her driveway at about 3:37pm and an unknown man got out of the passenger side of the car. The 25-year-old woman told Officers the unknown man went to the front door of her home, took packages left by a parcel service, and the man got back into the car and left the area. The 25-year-old woman told Officers she did not know exactly what was taken because she expected several deliveries and would have to take time to research what was delivered by the service.

Two restaurants along South Staples Street were both broken into in similar ways.

Corpus Christi Police were originally called to a restaurant located at 4102 South Staples Street.  An employee there told Officers that they arrived at work and found a hole in the wall underneath a desk and also a hole cut into the safe.

When Officers arrived they saw that entry into the restaurant was actually made through a vacant business next door.  The front door to that business had been pried open.  Once they were inside the vacant business they were able to tunnel through the drywall and into the restaurant.  It is estimated the suspects did nearly $500 in damage to the drywall, and another $600 in damage cutting a hole in the safe.  Investigators are reviewing camera surveillance images from the restaurant, however at this time no arrests have been made.

A short time later, Corpus Christi Police were called to another restaurant, located at 3821 South Staples Street, and employees at that business told Officers that sometime overnight, suspects had pried open the back door and then gained entry into an interior office.  The suspects went straight to the safe and cut it open as well. It is estimated at least $600 in damage was done to the door and the safe.

A 32 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after five men wearing hoodies and armed with guns kicked in the door of his townhome located in the 5700 block of Timbergate Drive.

Officers were told that all of the masked suspects were wearing gloves and they kicked down the front door, which was dead bolted, and held him and another 30 year old man, who was visiting the home, at gun point while they went through the townhome, stealing several personal items

Once the suspects had taken over $27,000 worth of property and were leaving, one of the suspects hit both of the men in the back of their heads with a pistol. Both men were treated for their injuries by CCFD EMS but refused to be taken to the hospital.

At this time, none of the five suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.

An employee of a business, located at 8149 South Padre Island Drive, called Corpus Christi Police after the store was robbed at gunpoint by two masked suspects.

Officers were told that a Hispanic male walked in and pointed a handgun at the store clerk and demanded money. He was described as being about 30 years old with tattoos all over his neck and one on his eye. A second male suspect then walked in and went around the counter and began grabbing the money from the register. The second male also had tattoos on his neck but he male did not have a weapon.

Both suspects left the store and were last seen walking toward and apartment complex across the street.

At this time the suspects have not been identified and no arrest have been made.
