A 29 year old female called an acquaintance to come pick her up after she got into a fight with her boyfriend at their apartment located in the 5900 block of Leopard Street.

When the 42 year old male friend arrived to pick the female up, he saw her being chased by her boyfriend who had a baseball bat. The boyfriend then saw the friend and hit him with the bat several times.

The friend was able to get the bat away from the boyfriend but then the boyfriend produced a knife and stabbed the friend in the chest.  The friend then hit the boyfriend in his head with the bat he had.

Both men had to be taken to Spohn Memorial Hospital.  Neither one has life threatening injuries.

Officers intend to file aggravated assault charges against the 41 year old boyfriend when he is released from the hospital.

A 75 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after his car was broken into and a gun was stolen.

The man told Officers he left his 2008 Ford Escape unlocked while it was parked in the driveway of his home located in the 800 block of Mariana Street.  A .38 caliber Rossi revolver and a check book was stolen from the front seat.

172 firearms have been stolen from vehicles in the city this year, only 38 of those have been recovered.

Crime Stoppers Offers Reward to Locate a Gunman

Corpus Christi Police would like help from the public to identify and locate a man who is suspected of shooting a 31-year-old man in the parking lot of a convenience store located at 3955 South Padre Island Drive at 2:45am on December 5, 2015.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of a shooting at 2:45am on December 5th, 2015 at a convenience store located at Weber and South padre Island Drive. The Officers learned a large group gathered at the convenience store parking lot and several fights erupted. Officers learned that during the confrontations, a 31-year-old man was shot in the leg and was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Officers obtained video surveillance of the event and believe there is an image of a man in a red shirt and black pants and white shoes who rushes up to the 31-year-old man, discharges a pistol, then runs away. Officers believe the 31-year-old man was laid on his back on the ground while a vehicle obstructs the view of the 31-year-old man. Officers believe the 31-year-old man was beaten by several people who kept him on the ground until the shooter rushed up and discharged the pistol.

Anyone who can identify the shooter, or has any additional information about this crime should call Crime Stoppers at 888-TIPS or submit the information online at http://www.888TIPS.com. Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward to the first person who provides information that results in an arrest and Crime Stoppers will never let anyone know who provided the information.

A vehicle stopped by a Corpus Christi Police Officer for speeding in the 2700 block of Saratoga Boulevard led to an arrest of a man for forgery.

Once the Officer stopped the 2001 Ford Expedition they determined that the driver, Ray Griffin Jr. (04/26/1973), did not have a driver’s license or insurance on his vehicle.

The Officer was impounding the vehicle when he observed a small zip lock bag which contained methamphetamine. Also found in the pants pockets of the suspect was four counterfeit $50 dollar bills.

He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and forgery, both felony offenses.

Crime Stoppers Offers Cash Reward to Identify A Suspected Credit Card Thief

Corpus Christi Police would like help from the public to identify and locate the man in this video. The man in the video is accused of using credit cards which were stolen from a car parked on Atlantic Street in October, 2015. This man purchased two televisions with the stolen credit card and Detectives need your help to identify the man. If you can identify this man, or have any additional information about this crime, call Crime Stoppers at 888-TIPS. Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward if the information leads to an arrest, and Crime Stoppers will never let anyone know who provided the information.

First Friday Fun Fact

The Corpus Christi Police Department has a campaign called “First Friday Fun Fact” that will focus on different Texas traffic laws.  It will run on the first Friday of each month. Here is this month’s traffic fact.

 

Advisory speeds

What is the speed limit on the curve marked by the sign at the left?  Most people would say 25 MPH, but the answer is that we don’t have enough information to know what the speed limit is here.  The “25 MPH” sign here is a speed advisory sign only, not a speed limit sign.  Speed advisory signs indicate the recommended speed for a particular upcoming hazard like a turn or a curve in the roadway, but they are not a legal speed limit.  Enforceable speed limits are marked by the familiar black and white SPEED LIMIT signs.  So, the speed limit for this curve would be whatever the last black and white

A security guard at a condominium in the 14300 block of South Padre Island Drive called Corpus Christi Police after a man he was trying to get to leave the property attacked him.

Officers arrived and the uniformed guard said that he was trying to calm a man who was yelling and screaming in the parking lot. When the security guard asked the man to leave the area the man threw him to the ground and put him in a head lock.

Before Officers arrived, the suspect left in a 2007 Chevrolet truck.  Other Officers were able to catch up to him on Waldron Road and the suspect, Christopher Williams (03/03/1984), was arrested for assault.

The security guard was not seriously injured.

Arrest Warrants Issued For Man After Officer Is Assaulted

Arrest warrants have been issued for a suspect after he fled the scene of a traffic stop in a car dragging a Corpus Christi Police Officer.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have identified Gilbert Trevino (12/16/1993) as the suspect who was driving the stolen vehicle and four arrest warrants in connection to this case were obtained December 2. Each warrant has a bond of $25,000 and were issued by Justice of the Peace Henry Santana. The charges include assault on an officer, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest and resisting arrest, all felony offenses.

On November 29 an Officer stopped a 2003 Nissan Altima sedan in the 1100 block of Seventh Street for going the wrong way on Santa Fe Street. Once the Officer stopped the car, he asked the 21 year old driver to step out of the vehicle. Once the driver was out, another passenger in the car, believed to be Gilbert Trevino, attempted to run from the scene on foot.  The Officer got into a struggle with the man and he then ran back to the vehicle got into the driver’s seat and took off, dragging the officer with them.

The suspect crashed into two parked cars on Seventh Street and continued on still dragging the Officer.  The Officer was then able to break free and fell from the car.

The suspect vehicle continued until it crashed into a fence several blocks away at Buford and 16th Streets and the suspect took off running and was not located.

The Officer was transported by CCFD EMS to Spohn Memorial Hospital and was treated for minor injuries.

At this time, the suspect is not in custody and remains at large.

A neighbor who lives in the 3700 block of Scarlet Oaks Drive called Corpus Christi Police after she heard gunfire outside her home and then saw two cars driving away.

After both cars left, the female witnessed a 16 year old male walking in the street.  Officers arrived and the male told them that he was in one of the cars with a group of other males, when he started to get assaulted.

The car he was in stopped on Spanish Oaks Drive and he was forced  out. Another car with another group of males that was following also stopped and they all got out and told him to give up his shoes and a cell phone.  Before leaving, one of the males pulled out a gun and fired a shot into the ground near the victim but did not strike him.

All of the suspects got into a cream colored Cadillac and the other car and fled with the stolen property.

The victim was taken to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS for the minor injuries he sustained in the assault.

Officers are still investigating this case, and no suspects have been identified.

103 Vehicles Up For Auction On Saturday

The City of Corpus Christi will auction 103 cars, trucks, and motorcycles at the Police Vehicle Impound Lot, located at 5485 Greenwood Drive, on Saturday, December 5, 2015. The auction will start at 10:00 am.

The general public is encouraged to register and view the vehicles for auction from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Friday, December 4. The general public can continue to view the vehicles from 8:00 am to 10:00 am on the day of the auction.

The vehicles for auction may be viewed online and an auction list may be downloaded from www.siskauction.com.
