Corpus Christi Police responded to a call with an open line to 911 and no one speaking. In the background, dispatchers could hear the sounds of things breaking, and people yelling at each other.

Officers arrived to find a 29 year old male victim with a stab wound to the back of his neck and slash marks on his head. Inside the home, located in the 9100 block of Caroline Road, they found evidence of a struggle and the victim’s 35 year old wife.

Both the male and female gave Officers conflicting accounts into what had occurred.

The male was transported to Spohn Memorial Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.

Due to the conflicting accounts into what had occurred and the male victim’s refusal to cooperate with the investigation, no arrests were made.

The male victim’s injuries do not appear to be life threatening, and the female was not injured.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated

Corpus Christi Police responded to Labonte Park after a truck drove into the Nueces River.

Officers arrived and found a 2010 Ford F150 truck in the water, front end first. The driver was out of the truck and was not injured.

The crash investigation revealed that the driver of the truck was traveling along the access road leading to the boat ramp. Before driving into the water, the truck struck the guard rail, a wooden post, and a barricade set up to prevent vehicles from driving into the water.

After an investigation, it was determined that the driver, Gerardo Zamora (05/29/1991), was intoxicated. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated and his truck was pulled out of the river and impounded.

Two Men Steal Metal From Grocery Store

The Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives would like help from the public to identify and locate two men who stole about $2,000 dollars worth of metal from a grocery store located at 5425 South Padre Island Drive on July 8, 2015.

Detectives received video on July 13m 2015 which the Detectives noticed the two Offenders are male, but it is not clear what race/ethnicity they are as the camera is positioned at too great a distance. According to Detectives, both men appear to be about 20 to 30 years of age. The Detectives say there are two suspect vehicles involved, one of which appears to be an older model 2 door Chevy Trailblazer, Gray in color. The second is an older model White Dodge Ram 1500 extra cab.

A 38 year old female called Corpus Christi Police after her suburban was destroyed by fire.

When Officers arrived they found two clear plastic bottles on the ground near the vehicle that were slightly melted, and had a substance inside. The rear passenger side glass was on the suburban. Damage to the 1999 Chevrolet Suburban was estimated to be $2,000.

The home owner was able to show Officers video surveillance from a camera he has mounted on his property. It shows a male suspect, who appears to be17 to 25 years of age, wearing a blue shirt, khaki or white shorts and a baseball hat, running from the scene shortly after the fire is started.

No suspects have been arrested in this case and Officers are working with the homeowner to retrieve the video evidence.

Community Outreach

Ski Basin Marine Patrol begins today. 

The Ski Basin Marine Patrol Initiative will begin this weekend on Padre Island. 

Dive Team officers and Uniform Personnel will work together as a unit to patrol the ski basin waterways by boat to enforce city and state laws in an area usually not accessible to law enforcement. 

The goal of this operation is to provide a safe atmosphere in the ski basin waterway through strong law enforcement presence and diligent enforcement of offenses such as boating while intoxicated, public intoxication, drug possession, underage consumption of alcohol, intoxication assault and stem the dangerous operation of watercraft in this area.

This initiative will begin this weekend and continue until the end of Labor Day weekend, Monday, September 7, 2015. The shifts will begin after 12 noon each weekend day.

Suspect Robs Grocery Store

Corpus Christi Police Detectives have released camera surveillance images of a suspect that they believe robbed the Las Palmas Grocery Store, located at 2006 Musset Street, Thursday afternoon.

The owner of the store reported to Officers that a black male suspect approached the sales counter as if he was going to make a purchase. The suspect then reached in his pocket, and pulled out a black knife and he grabbed the store owner by the shirt. The suspect then reached over the counter and got money out of the open cash register.

The suspect was last seen wearing a white shirt and a short billed black cap that was on backwards. He also had a black backpack on.

The suspect in this case has not been identified and Detectives need your help in solving this crime. Anyone with information about this case should call the Corpus Christi Police Criminal Investigations Division at 886-2840. Corpus Christi Police took a report for a stolen vehicle from a female at her home located in the 4000 block of Wood River Drive.

The female said that her 2012 Chevrolet Cruze sedan was taken from her driveway. About two hours later, an Officer on patrol observed the stolen car with two people inside traveling in the 1600 block of Caldwell Street.

Officers were able to get the vehicle stopped and arrested the driver, Thomas Walker (10/18/1991), for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was also found to have an outstanding warrant out for his arrest for failure to appear on a theft warrant.

The passenger in the car, Terry Brumley Jr. (06/15/1983), also had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest for possession of a controlled substance and he was arrested.

The vehicle was returned its owner.

Warrant Served On Southside Apartment

The Corpus Christi Police Department Narcotics & Vice Investigations Division, assisted by the SWAT team, served a search and arrest warrant earlier today at the Gaslight Apartments located at 4625 Kostoryz Road .

This warrant was the result of a lengthy investigation into drug dealing by one of the residents in that apartment.

Officers seized  5 grams of powdered cocaine, over 4 grams of marijuana, two scales, and $598 in cash from inside the apartment.

The man named in the arrest warrant, Roberto Jesus Flores (02/07/1989), was arrested and charged with first degree felony manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

Citizen Awarded By CCPD

The Corpus Christi Police Department  recognized Courtney Best, and awarded her with a  Citizens Certificate of Merit at a ceremony this morning at the police department.

On July 9, the Alice Police Department issued an Amber Alert just after 11:30 AM regarding a 7 year old male that had been abducted from their city.  It was also relayed to law enforcement that the suspect involved was now wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for kidnapping the child. Further information was relayed on the Amber Alert that the suspect was driving a white, 2009 Dodge, Avenger four door car.

At 12:08 PM, Courtney Best an employee at the Papa Murphy’s Pizza, located at 4020 Weber Road, in the Hamlin Shopping Center called Corpus Christi Police to report that she saw the vehicle parked in the parking lot.  Officers arrived just as the vehicle was exiting the parking lot and turning onto South Staples Street. The Officers were able to stop the car and take the suspect into custody in the parking lot of CCFD Fire Station 7.

The Officers were able to secure the young boy, and he did not appear to suffer any injuries.

The awareness and quick actions of Ms. Best helped keep a young child from being injured and assisted our Officers in taking a wanted person into custody.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a crash on the JFK Causeway in lanes going toward Padre Island.

When Officers arrived they determined that the driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala had rear ended a 2001 Hyundai SUV that was stopped on the shoulder of the road.

The driver of the SUV, a 46 year old female, had stopped to assist her 17 year old son, who was changing a tire on his vehicle. When the Impala struck the parked SUV, the SUV was pushed forward and it struck the young man changing the tire.

He was only grazed by his mother’s SUV and then thrown into the retaining wall. The young man was treated at the scene by CCFD EMS, but only suffered some bruising and abrasions.

After an investigation, it was determined that the driver of the Impala, Rodney John Cervantes (06/26/1992) was intoxicated. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
