Patrol Report 11/12/2015

The manager of the Affordable Mini Storage, located in the 4500 block of Weber Road, called Corpus Christi Police after she found one of her storage units had been broken into.

Officers arrived and were told that someone had cut the master lock off one of the front gates to the business. The suspects then entered the property and cut the lock off the roll up door of a storage unit and took items from inside.

At this time no suspects have been identified.

A 46 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after he had three of his favorite fishing poles stolen from his garage in the 2500 block of Date Palm Drive.

The man told Officers that he was getting ready to go fishing the next morning and had placed the fishing poles on a table in his garage. He said he went inside for a few minutes and then walked back out and the poles were gone. He estimated the poles value at $630 but the missed fishing time was priceless.

Officers are investigating this crime, and at this time no suspects have been identified.

Patrol Report 11/10/2015

Two men armed with a handgun walked into the Stripes Store, located in the 2000 block of Gollihar Road, and demanded the clerk give them money from the cash register.

The clerk told Officers a black male wearing a grey beanie over his head and face, a grey long sleeve shirt and white work gloves, pointed a handgun at her, while a second black male suspect wearing a black ski mask, a black hoodie and pants with white work gloves was carrying a purple bag.

The suspects followed her behind the counter to the register and demanded money. Both suspects got scared off after they claimed the clerk was taking too long to open the register and they left without taking any cash.

Officers are working with management to retrieve the store video surveillance.

At this time, no suspects have been identified.

Patrol Report 11/09/2015

Corpus Christi Police responded to the 4500 block of Prescott Street for a shooting.

A 32 year old male victim told Officers that he was crossing the street on foot, with a 27 year old male friend, when a newer model black Chevrolet Impala slowed down and drove past them. The driver, described as a light skinned Hispanic male, produced a hand gun out the window, and fired three shots at the two men.

One of the shots struck the older male in the lower left leg. He was taken to Spohn Memorial Medical Center by CCFD EMS with non-life threatening injuries.   The other man was not injured.

The vehicle that the suspect was driving was last seen going south on Prescott Street.

Officers recovered three shell casings in the middle of the street.

No suspects have been identified in this case, and Officers continue to investigate.

A store employee at the Bealls, located at the Five Points Shopping Center, called Corpus Christi Police after he observed a man steal nearly $800 worth of merchandise.

Officers arrived and were told by the employee that he observed a Hispanic male grab about 20 sweaters and run out the front door of the store without paying.  The employee said he ran after the suspect, but was pushed into a parked car by the man.

The suspect dropped the merchandise and jumped into a waiting vehicle It was described as a grey 2004 Nissan Sentra with three other males inside.

At this time, no suspects have been identified in this case.

A 47 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after he was stabbed in the leg and robbed of his wallet in the 1400 block of Paige Place.

Officers arrived and found the victim had a stab wound on the right upper thigh. He told Officers that two males approached him and demanded his wallet and then stabbed him. The victim was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS to be treated.

The victim described the suspects as being two Hispanic males wearing black shirts, between 25 and 30 years old.

At this time, the suspects have not been identified.

Offense: Fatal Crash

A 23 year old man was killed in a traffic crash after he lost control of his vehicle and struck the a concrete pillar under State Highway 358 near the Weber Road intersection.

Police Traffic Investigators responded and determined that a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by the man, was exiting the freeway at a high rate of speed, lost control and struck the pillar.

Police are still investigating this crash but believe alcohol and speed were a factor.

Two males and a female walked into the Sun Loans, located at 2222 Airline Road, wearing masks and hoodies and armed with a gun.

The three suspects forced all the employees and two customers in the business to the ground.  One of the male suspects pulled out a handgun and the three proceeded behind the desk area of the business.  One of the workers then attempted to call police from a desk phone, but the male armed with the gun forced her to drop it. Another female employee was thrown to the ground by one of the male suspects when she did not get down.

The suspects fled before taking anything from the business. They were last seen running towards the Saw Grass Apartments.

Officers believe they know the three suspects involved, however, none of them have been located.

Patrol Report 11/02/2015

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated

A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol found a car stopped in a lane of Interstate Highway 37 North over McKenzie Road.

When the Officer got out to investigate, he found the male driver passed out behind the wheel. The 2012 Ford Fiesta hatchback was in drive and the driver had his foot on the brake with the engine running.

After several attempts at banging on the window of the car, the Officer was able to get the driver to wake up and put the car in park.

After an investigation, it was determined that the driver, Jaime Villarreal (10/19/1961), was intoxicated.  He was arrested for driving while intoxicated and the charge was upgraded to a felony due to prior convictions.

Dia De Los Muertos Event Brings Extra Officers To Downtown

The Corpus Christi Police Department will have extra police officers at this evenings Dia De Los Muertos event in downtown Corpus Christi.

The overtime assignment will bring seventeen additional officers to the area of the event starting today at 3 PM.

In addition to the twelve officers and a supervisor on duty on the festival site, four other Officers will be assigned to cross pedestrians at crosswalks along Water Street.
